thanks for watching geoff and good advice. We have been living on the boat for a year now. some day to day living and what we do on the boat is a good idea. will try and put some more on the next video. cheers Dean n Fee.
Hi Gary, all is going well thank you. We have been living and working in Airlie Beach the last few months saving up for our next trip. Working put a bit of a hold on the Videos and then I damaged my laptop. Good news we just bought a new Laptop this week and looking forward to making some videos again soon. all the best Dean and Fee
Dig your Vids. But like the poor Doctor that lost his life at Cid Harbour, I have anchored there many many times attending big raft ups and parting hard with some tuff blokes but they were locals but never seen anyone swimming "Hmm" most have seen what comes up on the end of a line there. Keep up the Vids, be careful and Cheers.
Thanks for watching the videos Peter, you are correct, it is all about self preservation and minimizing the risk out there. great place Cid harbour but we have never had much interest swimming there, water is way too murky. On a positive note I guess spending a year sailing up the east coast has been far safer than driving to work every day. cheers Dean and Fiona.
I noted that when you returned to the boat that you don't have a snubber fitted, any reason? Love the vids, and am looking forward to setting off up the East coast one day soon.
thanks for watching Kris, we don't always use a snubber, but probably should have at pancake creek to reduce the noise from the chain on the tide changes. all the best for your trip Dean n Fee.
Thanks for an awesome video... I think you need too try to set the mic a bit louder at times I could barely hear what y'all were saying... But it still was a great video. especially when you got her with that small limb off the bush or tree.. I thought for sure that she was going to give you a verbal lashing... I know for sure my wife would of laid into me verbally without cursing... I quite a bit older than my wife but she can scold me like I a little school boy that put a tack on the teachers chair... LOL,LOL,LOL Y'all keep having fun out there and be blessed... BBE..
Thanks for watching and thanks for your message Bobby. sometimes we have the waterproof cover on our camera and blocks out a bit of sound. glad you liked the little prank that I pulled. all the best Dean n Fee.
Hi Peter, thanks for watching the video, most of our swimming was during the middle of the day and we stayed close to the sandy shore. We kept a good look out but felt pretty safe. cheers dean and fiona.
Great Vid again Dean and Fee. Can I ask what Nav software are you using? It Looks like i-Boating. My wife and I are heading off early next year for pretty much the same trip ex Sydney and you have given us additional inspiration!! Did you stop at Hervey Bay for Supplies at all? I look forward to the next leg up to Gladstone and beyond!!
thanks for watching jason, we use opencpn on our laptop to plan most routes and use our raymarine chart plotter for close up detail when navigating channels and sand banks. we also have navionics boating apps on our mobile phones. All the best for your trip next year and hope to see you on the water. dean n fiona.
Hi Kevin, we use opencpn on the laptop for passage planning, It is easy to use and great for plotting and logging our track and estimating our time of arrival. As the opencpn maps are old we also use our raymarine chart plotter and samsung phone with navionics charts when navigating shallow depths for finer detail.
The maps i am using are CMap "cm93 jan 2011" I was given them some time ago on a usb, you may be able to find them on the internet google search but it is quite a large file. The maps can then be copied into the OpenCPN folder.
Another nice video. Pancake Creek is one of my favourite places to stop on the passage north. Looking forward to your nest episode.
