  • Ray shows us how dowsing for water works, and tells a World War II combat story. This is a rough cut from an unfinished student documentary on gold prospecting and ancient treasure hunting in Utah.

Wonderful listening to him -- you will treasure this video of him someday. Please keep recording his stories while he's still with you to tell them in his own words.

@Anrirua We liked Dale, too. I'm afraid we may never finish the doc, as our team has moved all over the country. Thanks anyway -- very complimentary.

Hi Chris, I'd Really like to use this video for my non-profit T.V show, to pass on to the Next generation if possible? I'd really appreciate, Lonnie

"Switched fork react immediately?" It kind of felt like it. It was an unusual experience!
"Dry Creek?" I'm afraid I've lost the address. I'm not sure that his physical address would have been in "Dry Creek, UT", per se. It was definite in north east Utah, though. Beautiful country.
"Finish!" I'm afraid we may never finish the doc, as our team has moved all over the country since finishing school. Thanks anyway -- very complimentary!

For those who still ask questions occasionally: This is my Grandpa. He passed away almost 6 years ago from cancer. This was filmed in DryFork Utah which is basically up Vernal canyon.

Guess you have never seen it in person. It would blow your boots off. My great grandfather made a bunch of cash finding wells using this same method. He would hold the branch so tight that it would tear the bark right off.

Really enjoyed that. That guy's what makes America great. No gungho bullshit, just a real man, a family man and a God-fearing man. I like his style.
ps Please finish the doc someday. Excellent filming, excellent subject matter.

deluded. It's such a shame. His whole life spent thinking he can find water with a wooden stick.

Maybe not everyone can dowse, but a lot can. Haha even people that dig for utilities some have used it to locate pipes. In Vietnam they used it to find bombs. It reminds me of those really smart autistic kids. Nobody can replicate them, but some of those guys can memorize an entire phone book or other data. Scientists can’t replicate it, but just try to explain it.

@@koltoncrane3099 The truth, is that there's ground water almost everywhere. Dowsing has been disproven in every scientific environment and has no legitimacy. Letter to Robin and it's companion, do not detail any sort of reliable method either. "Just believe in yourself and the sticks" is what it comes up to.
