Ususally the number 10 is assigned to the offensive midfilder wich obviously is the player who has the leadership of the attack of a team, he is not the main scorer, but he is the "best" player of the team because he can dribble better or just make the decisive pass or assist, or a longe range shot. Wingers are usually numbers 7 and 8 and are really fast players while the number 10 sometimes can be Riquelme (wich I may say he is the prototype of the number 10), slow but full of technique, react to him!! Other great numbers 10 are Zidane, Platini, Zico, Rivaldo,... Others like Ronaldinho or Neymar are wingers or prfer to start from the wing position to go to the middle (like young Messi) but they wear the number 10 because they are/were the best player of their teams, it's like a distintion to wear that number. ;)

modric is a million and one things. and fast is not one fo them 😂
He would not be this dominant if he wasn't fast. Don't get me wrong, he is not the fastest player in the world by any strech, he is above average and was recently clocked at 33.3km/h. To give a counter example, Mbappe's top speed was 36.2km/h and Gareth Bale's was 36.9 km/h and these two are among the fastest players in the world.
What Luka has is his reaction time, and his "first 3 meters to the ball" which is pure explosive speed, and more important for a footballer than his top speed. What's also more important for a fotballer is his speed with the ball at his feet, and Luka is amazing in that department.

He's one of the best passers in the world but there are/were better ones: Scholes, Ronaldinho, De Bruyne, Messi, Pirlo, Xavi, Iniesta, Bergkamp, Özil (who played with Modric at real) and some others that I probably forgot
When it comes to overall passing abilities only Scholes and Pirlo were better than Luka.
