Yes and no. No matter how you look at it Miles had to have read the email almost instantaneously Waylon sent it. Waylon was working on the Morphogenic Engine before Miles got to the asylum. Two hours after Waylon sent the email the power shut off when he was being experimented on. The only reason the power shut off was because of father Martin keeping Miles at the asylum for a longer period of time. It’s unknown when exactly the variants started their break-out. However, I would think they broke out one hour before Miles got to the asylum. I don’t know how they got out but that makes the most sense. If you have different thoughts please share them.😁
@@MichaelStrawn_I_am I always thought that miles arrived at least a little while after Waylon escaped, that the footage of the soldiers being killed by the walrider was being played back from a previous recording and that Martin had only turned off the auxiliary power or something. This mainly came from the amount of blood and bodies everywhere already spread throughout the entrance area absolutely not lining up with the fact that the experiments would still be going on at the same time as miles appears by what you said.
I kind of figured that Waylon had been sending emails to Miles for a little while already and sometime after Waylon is running through Mount Massive is when Miles arrives, from there the two stories start to run along side each other

I love this game my cousin is kinda into it and he played a little of the 2nd(he got it from xbox game pass)game so i just told him most of the story from the first game and how it connects to the 2nd and since he couldn't play it from it being taken off game pass i told him moat of the story of the 2nd game his reaction when i told him the baby twist at at the end of the game was hilarious.
Aren’t there documents in game that state there are no females in mount massive because of the effects the engine has on females. Phantom pregnancies and other weird stuff. I swear there was stuff in the game that explained that, I could be wrong though I haven't played through it in years.
I think that's what happened. If i remember correctly, the reason why there are no women is because walrider impregnates them. It's been a long time so i'm not really sure
26:30 if someone is asking Outlast is based off a real mental asylum that is called “Byffalo Asylum” in NY. It was built in the 18th century. And they wanted to be nice to the patients, but later it didn’t go so well. U can look at some videos what happend there
The part of Trager torturing his victims and you saying he probably will also cuts off his eyes, kidneys and livers, I'm pretty sure Trager will also cuts off his tongue and genital/balls based on one of the text in game.
I dropped Outlast several times because i got fkin anxiety in some moments and went into other games , despite beeing always interested in what happened there, i couldnt keep the interest as the days passed. Finally i can sit and watch what everything is about withouth having to watch a boring walkthrough

Amazing video!! I Love Outlast, it's one of my All time favorite Games, and this is the best type of Video for a Fan! I would like to point something out that i tried to investigate for weeks: When Miles is in the Sewers, there's a corridor(after you escape from Chris Walker and climb the Ladder) and a guy chases you in this corridor but then runs back to his place. This guy starts holding the steel grid and forgets about you. Anyways, you will hear loud crying sounds, and if you turn around behind this guy, to the other corner, you will see one of the variants with straightjacket, sitting in the corner of the room crying soo much. You can see how sad he is to be there. But there's something else i noticed: To his side, there's a letter, and i'm not sure if he wrote it (cause he can't use his arms) so maybe it's a letter someone else wrote! Now i dont remember if its written in russian but i tried zooming the camera on it and translating what it says, But it's very very hard to understand the words specially with the Graphics of the game. I only managed to translate a few words but if i changed a letter, it changed the whole meaning of the message. So i never managed to fully translate what the card says and i think that's a very hidden detail they put in the game (It's like they gave a NPC variant a back story to understand him) And it would be nice to see other people trying to discover what that letter says!

I was always a big fan of outlast but I only started playing the games myself and not watching someone play it recently, which is why it’s so awesome to see a video go this in depth with the series this recently! Fantastic job.
What the FUCK!? I had no idea Outlast took place in Leadville. 2 years ago I visited Leadville and toured their mining museum. Had I been aware of this then I think the whole thing would'a had a completely different vibe from the 'winter wonderland' one I got out of it.
The fact that I just watched this for 40 minutes straight like a movie surprises me, you are great at story telling and you just showed me how much love I have for outlast. Keep it up.

The theory at 29:00 talking about the shadows in the outside portion of the game is the walrider. Not only does it look like him but not long after you see him outside, there is a scene where he chases you in a building for a brief second and Miles writes a note saying “my god I thing I I just saw the wallrider.” So I think the use of “ghosts” with certain npc’s is a reference to the walriders phantom like appearance
28:53 Yeah, I’ve noticed them, they’re called “Project WALRIDER nanoclouds”, if you look and listen closely, every time these shadows appear, the Walrider breathing sound plays, so it’s most likely the Walrider observing Miles Upshur through the game

with outlast being my favorite game of all time, I really loved this video and was even able to learn a few things. I think some other cool things to mention would be that Mount Massive Asylum is based off of a real insane asylum that was turned into a hotel (Hotel Henry Urban Resort Conference Center). I actually had the chance to see it in person, it's absolutely insane being able to go inside what is essentially the Outlast asylum, but its all fancy and renovated and stuff. One other thing I'd like to mention is the debate on whether Miles is alive or not. I personally think he is alive because despite being turned into swiss cheese at the end of the main game, we see him at the end of whistleblower. I know that for the Walrider to possess a host they have to experience immense trauma and horror, but I also believe the host must be alive as well (hence why the Walrider posses Miles once Billy is killed). My theory is that once the military (and perhaps even Wernicke) gets slaughtered by the Walrider, Miles (now being able to control the Walrider) somehow managed to keep himself alive, perhaps by hooking up his body to the same type of life support Billy was on. then again, Miles turned off all life support so I don't know exactly how he would've been able to do that. either way, I'd like to hear some thoughts on this and once again, great video!

I do believe the fact that miles was alive during the first game, but mainly because of the fact that there was evidence of him being seen as the walrider. If that was not there, it could be believed that the government or murkoff cleaned up the evidence of his death and took the camera so that evidence didn't get leaked per say. But that would be contradicted by the first piece of evidence, which still stands as a cool theory imo. Edit: had to take out a word

Wow I was expecting to hear something about the game itself but you've actually surprised me with the amount of lore within this iceberg, made me more interested in the Outlast series now. .
Great video on such an under appreciated gem. I remember picking it up on sale in 2015 for like $2 with all the DLC, and it was totally worth every bit of that. That same sale I got metro, too which was fine, but out last has that certain quality.
Man its extremely sad the fact outlast 2 couldn't live up to the original, i really really hope it wasn't just them getting lucky with outlast 1, i hope it was just an unlucky fluke we got with outlast 2 and the newest game actually shows some of the amazing writing and story along with delivering another truly terrifying experience that we got with outlast 1

Before i played this game i was heavily invested in researching truama based mind control, mkultra, sra, mpd, institutional child abuse, governmental blackmail, and dark military projects that stemmed from operation paperclip. Soo when much of this popped up in the game i was actually surprised, these things dont get exposure or reference in mainstream pop culture. It was deff interesting to see this game successful in the industry even with its real world equivalent being suppressed so deeply. Anyways, great job on this video, im sure many people will learn a thing or two from this presentaion. Cheers.

The theory at 29:00 talking about the shadows in the outside portion of the game is the walrider. Not only does it look like him but not long after you see him outside, there is a scene where he chases you in a building for a brief second and Miles writes a note saying “my god I thing I I just saw the wallrider.” So I think the use of “ghosts” with certain npc’s is a reference to the walriders phantom like appearance

Yeah, I’ve noticed them, they’re called “Project WALRIDER nanoclouds”, if you look and listen closely, every time these shadows appear, the Walrider breathing sound plays, so it’s most likely the Walrider observing Miles Upshur through the game

with outlast being my favorite game of all time, I really loved this video and was even able to learn a few things. I think some other cool things to mention would be that Mount Massive Asylum is based off of a real insane asylum that was turned into a hotel (Hotel Henry Urban Resort Conference Center). I actually had the chance to see it in person, it's absolutely insane being able to go inside what is essentially the Outlast asylum, but its all fancy and renovated and stuff. One other thing I'd like to mention is the debate on whether Miles is alive or not. I personally think he is alive because despite being turned into swiss cheese at the end of the main game, we see him at the end of whistleblower. I know that for the Walrider to possess a host they have to experience immense trauma and horror, but I also believe the host must be alive as well (hence why the Walrider posses Miles once Billy is killed). My theory is that once the military (and perhaps even Wernicke) gets slaughtered by the Walrider, Miles (now being able to control the Walrider) somehow managed to keep himself alive, perhaps by hooking up his body to the same type of life support Billy was on. then again, Miles turned off all life support so I don't know exactly how he would've been able to do that. either way, I'd like to hear some thoughts on this and once again, great video!

I do believe the fact that miles was alive during the first game, but mainly because of the fact that there was evidence of him being seen as the walrider. If that was not there, it could be believed that the government or murkoff cleaned up the evidence of his death and took the camera so that evidence didn't get leaked per say. But that would be contradicted by the first piece of evidence, which still stands as a cool theory imo.

Great video on such an under appreciated gem. I remember picking it up on sale in 2015 for like $2 with all the DLC, and it was totally worth every bit of that. That same sale I got metro, too which was fine, but out last has that certain quality.

Man its extremely sad the fact outlast 2 couldn't live up to the original, i really really hope it wasn't just them getting lucky with outlast 1, i hope it was just an unlucky fluke we got with outlast 2 and the newest game actually shows some of the amazing writing and story along with delivering another truly terrifying experience that we got with outlast 1

The Walrider was being contained in some type of room(we never see the room in the game). When father Martin shuts off the power that released Billy.
it makes me so happy to see this video on my feed. outlast (1 at least) has SUCH a good story and i got so attached to the characters and even the monsters/patients. it sad to not see any content about it especially because its so good :(

Before i played this game i was heavily invested in researching truama based mind control, mkultra, sra, mpd, institutional child abuse, governmental blackmail, and dark military projects that stemmed from operation paperclip. Soo when much of this popped up in the game i was actually surprised, these things dont get exposure or reference in mainstream pop culture. It was deff interesting to see this game successful in the industry even with its real world equivalent being suppressed so deeply. Anyways, great job on this video, im sure many people will learn a thing or two from this presentaion. Cheers.
