I love the gentle way you teach. I like both pages, but I can see how much easier it is to blend the colors on the gessoed page. Thanks for sharing, Amber! ❤️
I found this today. I prepped an entire book for art journaling. This is just a whole bunch of amazing beautiful yummy goodness. I'm on my 3rd viewing in a row. Thanks so much for sharing this :)
Each page has its own charm -- you just need to know what look you want in any given project or page. Doing this as a comparison with gesso / non-gesso, paper towel / heat drying is a great way to show what each option has to offer. Nice teaching as well as nice pages!
I love the non gessoed background as there was more variation in it but I love both ways when you added the peacock feathers. Thank you for sharing Amber great pages
First of all, thank you for doing that. I truly learned from it. I love the non gesso side. It has a lot of inconsistency. The gesso is a softer touch and I'd use it on card making if I needed that. I love everything about these two examples, Thank you again Amber!
Thank you for the comparison of gesso and non-gesso pages. Very informative. The pages turned out beautifully even though they were slightly different. Both lovely pages in your journal.
I agree that the gesso page is better. The ideas you think up to use the supplies in different ways are soooo good! I'm always excited to see when you've posted a new video!
You’ve made me so happy. I have the reinkers not the pads. But you’ve shown me how I can finally use them. After I got them I couldn’t use them nicely so they’ve been packed up pretty much since their release. Now I actually want to get them out and play. Thank you so much for the beautiful new techniques. I’m going to be very happy to apply them to my art journals. Cheers Cherie K🦋🌈🇦🇺
It's amazing the difference gesso or no gesso makes! I appreciate the ease of blending with gesso and the smoother transition of colours. Yet I still like the non-gesso brightness. Both super duper as always Amber. Tfs 🥰🌻🧡
Thank you so much Amber, I really really love 💕 these pages. I really like this without gesso, but I also really really love 💕 gesso when it’s used to. The colours and stencilling is stunning and gorgeous and I really really love 💕 how it’s blended. xxx Mags
I guess it depends on the look you are going for. I prefer the gessoed side because blending and lifting is smoother and easier. Plus the colors are more vivid.
I’m gonna have to go with the gessoed page as my favorite. I LOVE the look of oxides...they are by far my favorite ink, but it is work blending them on non-gessoed substrate. They do look beautiful on both pages though. I’m going to have to try this color combination. I tend to stay away from the oranges because it’s not a favorite color of mine, but it is so gorgeous with abandoned coral. Oh and I totally agree about the make-up style blending brushes. My hand aches after a short time of blending. I have found that using the larger brushes helps a lot and also holding the head of the brush rather than the handle takes away most of the hand fatigue. I’ve recently tried the domed blending foams from scrapbook.com and am finding them to be a bit quicker for getting nice blends. I’m waiting for the new blending brushes from Pink and Main to arrive so I can try them. They look like a dream for someone with arthritic hands, but they won’t be good for fine detail work I don’t think. Anyway, I ALWAYS enjoy your videos, Amber, and I’m so grateful to you for sharing your ideas with us. God bless!
Those brushes I think work better with wanting light covering of ink. I do not think these replace the other dobbers that blend out. But besides that I love the colors. Great pages. Thanks for sharing .
The gessoed side blended easier and it didn't take you as long to get color density. I like the ink removal on left though it was softer. In the end I liked both, but leaning a little more towards the un gessoed side . I'm not sure I would have done the edges in the brown/black (was hard to tell). I love grunge but it didn't work on the whimsical colors for me. Two great pages though.
Beautiful pages! You do such beautiful work! I really want to get the Distress Oxide Inks! Maybe I can talk hubs into it for my birthday in June! thank you for sharing your beautiful art process with us!
@@AmberKCreative always enjoy your videos..you make mixed media look easy..just purchased gesso..heavy body for stencils, Liquitex, Dina’s journal, smaller size, brushes, stencils, now looking at paints, oxides, highlighter pencils, always have micron pens…OMGosh..soo many colors to choose from..😂..where do I begin on colors..😳😳
honestly after you put all the stencils and smudges, and water spots, stamps on top of it you really can't tell one was ever gessoed and the other wasn't, they end up looking the same...although the gessoed one looked like it blended easier.
I like aspects of both. I never gesso a Dylusions journal page, but some of the initial blending on the non gessoed page was not as good, but it gives it more texture. Once everything else is added, I don’t think there was really much difference. Both pages are individual. Thanks for the experiment but I still believe you don’t have to add gesso to Dylusions journal pages.
Hello 🤗 Everytime i love watching your process vidéo😍😍😍 kisses from France 😘 "as always I am dazzled by your work. I love your video process "??😶my friend "Google "

Oh wow quite the difference between the gesso and no gesso. Thanks for experimenting!
I like both. Depends on my mood. Nice and bright like a sunny day with gesso. Quiet and peaceful with the non-gesso side.
Loved the non gesso page! But both are lovely pieces. TFS!😘✨👍🏾
Thank you! ♥
I know this is two years past now, but I sure am enjoying the video. I think both pages have their own uniqueness. I love them both
I like the gessoed side better (the other is nice too). It blends so much better. Those colors are very nice together!
I like the non-gessoed, it looks like a beautiful sunset. I can see clouds in the texture.
I found this today. I prepped an entire book for art journaling. This is just a whole bunch of amazing beautiful yummy goodness. I'm on my 3rd viewing in a row. Thanks so much for sharing this :)
Thanks for doing a page with gesso and a page without gesso. I enjoy your videos.
I really enjoyed watching this. I always thought of distress oxides as a card making supply. Now I want to go use them in my art journal.
I liked the gesso background better. It seems the colors blended better. I just am obsessed with your videos. 😀

Absolutely love your choice of colors. I like the gesso much better. Everything just blended so much prettier.
I agree the page with gesso blends much more smoothly but I also appreciate the more aged and rustic blending without the gesso. Both could be useful!
I love the non gessoed background as there was more variation in it but I love both ways when you added the peacock feathers. Thank you for sharing Amber great pages

Love the bright colors and the visual effects of both page techniques.
Wow what a great example. I like the gessoed page definitely better
Have been watching a lot of process videos lately and yours are becoming a favorite. Thank you.
I'm so glad! Thank you!
Your colours and pages always add so much joy 🥰
Not sure which I like best. probably the gesso for the ease of application. Both are really pretty.

gesso it is....the difference in the blending is amazing and as usual beautiful pages
Both pages are beautiful ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
This is great & love seeing the difference gesso makes!
Excellent video. Good to know both gessoed and un work pretty much equally.
I think both pages look amazing! Thanks for sharing 💜💜💜✌️✌️ Sherry
absolutely gorgeous and so creative!
They are both pretty. But the gesso one does blend better. Lovely pages
It turned out amazing! I really love the page with the Gesso much better!
I really enjoy your work! I like the comparisons. Both sides have their charm!
Thank you, Judy!
Watched twice, and shared in my facebook group. I really enjoy your style. Thanks for sharing with us!
Thank you so much, Sally! 💕
I like the brightness of the page with gesso but love the "distressness" of the non-gessoed page. 😍
I love the gesso page! Beautiful techniques though! You always amaze! Thank you Amber! Patti

Very nice. Great demonstration.

Inspirador al 100%, muchas gracias ❤️❤️❤️
Love both pages! Each is beautiful and I love the colour combos! 🥰
I love them both!! Beautiful pages!! TFS!
Each page is beautiful in its own way but I like the gesso side better because the colors seem to flow better to me.
Wonderfull colors. Very pretty
Stunning! 💕

Instead of a baby wipe, a stamp shamy Is a great alternative! Less waste too. 💜 love your videos - very inspiring!
Hi Amber, love what you did here . I liked the gessoed better- I’m going to test it myself on my papers !!! Tfs 👵🏻🎨❤️🤗
Gorgeous
Love this
Goodmorning it is so nice to meet you! I enjoyed your video! It came out so nice! Have a great day!😀💛💜💙❤🤗
Thank you so much, Loretta!!!
@@AmberKCreative You are so welcome!😀💛💙❤🤗
The side with no gesso has lovely texture rather than the smooth side with gesso. Both are lovely.
I love them both, thanks for this video. I like what you did a lot.
Those brushes I think work better with wanting light covering of ink. I do not think these replace the other dobbers that blend out. But besides that I love the colors. Great pages. Thanks for sharing .
I think they both look nice but I will go for the none gessoed one I like the colors they are more vibrant
Amazing. Totally love it. Xxx🇮🇪

Amazing. I’m only now starting to get I to creative journaling and art. I’m not a born artist but I really want to develop :)
Beautiful pages! You do such beautiful work! I really want to get the Distress Oxide Inks! Maybe I can talk hubs into it for my birthday in June! thank you for sharing your beautiful art process with us!
This was a great demo - thanks! I subscribed :-)
Gesso👍😍
How did you create the white sprinkle marks?
I was thinking I like both sides for their own reactions to water and stencils. Slightly different looks but both have merit.
🧡❤️💙..so pretty..
Thank you! 🤗

Would you gesso a watercolor journal as well?
I would if I were using acrylics and other mediums, but not if I were just using watercolors. =)
NICE❤
Yes I agree.. i like gesso better xxx

What are you using for clean-up? Baby wipes seem so wasteful.
Gesso smooths much easier looks like.
Which side did you like best?
Non gessoed because the colors are more vibrant
Gesso side
Gessoed!
I like the non gesso better
