I appreciate the honest review. I have used this a few times, and it's definitely versatile enough to play around with different ways of incorporating it into your routine. I also didn't get enough hold when I used it the way they did in their video, but I do like it when I layer a little gel on top. I get great volume, and my hair feels incredibly healthy when I use it! And for anyone wondering, it is in fact free of silicones. I know other Verb products contain them, but not this one.

Thanks for your honest review. I thought your day 1 hair looked great and your day 2 hair looked pretty good to me, too. I'm dying to try this even though the last thing I need is more products!😄 Probably a good thing it's sold out at Verb right now. 😉Like you I like more hold - and to be honest, having to scrunch out the crunch makes me feel like I'm getting more hold, so I suspect that I'll end up adding gel once I finally try it. I did that with other supposed "one and done" products after the first try gave me less hold than I like.
I haven't actually tried any Verb products yet, as some of them contain silicones, which don't really work well in my hair, but now I'm tempted to try the products you mentioned. I'll be interested to see what you do in terms of layering this product with other things. Like you, I like to layer, but I need to be careful not to overdo.
By the way, I appreciated your technique for avoiding getting too much product on your roots, no one else has ever answered that question when I asked how to avoid it.

Great review! I'm trying to find out if this is actually a gel foam hybred and different from a regular foam, or just another foam product? This is my first video I've seen from your channel and you are doing a fantastic job! In my opinion, there is no wrong g way to use a product. Using a product many different ways is how we discover what works best for each of us individually!

    • @CurlyChelle547

Thank you! Welcome to my channel! It’s mostly a foam. I don’t get much of a gel hybrid out of it at all. Not like the AG mousse gel which really does behave like both. There’s definitely no wrong way to use a product. I 100% agree! always find it weird when people tell me that. Mostly I ignore it. I just wanted to nip that in the bud this time. 😊. I do a lot of using things differently (was pretty common with my fellow hairdressers to find different ways to use products and share it with each other) and mixing and matching. Aside from being helpful to find what works, it’s just fun! Thank you for watching!

There's definitely not a lot of hold in that foam. But I actually really like it anyways since I layer things like you, so I'm ok with a product giving me a lot of definition (like this foam did for me) & I can use a different one for hold. Aw, there's no real doing it "wrong", sometimes "wrong" works right for others.
Now I feel bad about that one time I mentioned when using the Doux foam & glaze that you're not "supposed" to use oils first 😣🥺 I swear I only mentioned it cuz that would help with the cast.
Part of experimenting with new products is experimenting w/application, techniques, etc. When I used it I didn't have the ghost prep & used it like I saw the 2nd time, with Aveda nutriplenish leave in (since I love it anyways), & then I added a bit of gel at the end. I even brushed the foam thru like she did but I think next time I try it I'm going to glaze & scrunch like I usually would & then do a thin layer of gel on top. I didn't get a ton of longevity either, though it did amazing as a dry, curl by curl refresh, & then I briefly hit the curls I refreshed with a diffuser and it looked even better than it initially did

@@CurlyChelle547 ok I'm glad it wasn't something I had said. Now sure why people feel the need to say things like that. Especially to a pro stylist! I remember when it was a lot of "that's not curly hair, that's wavy!" or that viral clip with that girl screaming "if your HAIR is not curly when it's wet [insert snotty little laugh] then you don't have curly hair" 😂
But not I've seen people saying things like "why are you brushing the gel thru? You're supposed to scrunch it in" (or vice versa), or "you're not supposed to use silicones" - often said by people while they're slapping on handfuls of Shea moisture stylers after having only rinsed out half of their Shea moisture conditioner. I've seen some people literally use products like that & get great results, but I just don't want to hear someone tell me silicones are "bad" while they pile on 10x as much emollients as me, except theirs are "natural" 😂 Woo! I'm a new viewer to your channel so not sure what your normal routine is, but do you not do anything to "refresh" your hair on day 2/3/4? eg with water, or other products, etc. Or you just didn't do it for this review to keep it simple?
I usually use water to "re-activate" the products from day 1, but I know a lot of folks don't like using water on their hair every day. But if I try using more products (ie rather than water), my hair just goes limp and gross with too much product. What are your thoughts on this?

    • @CurlyChelle547
      @CurlyChelle547  Год назад +1

I don’t refresh in reviews to show how well the products hold up all on their own without any interference from me. But I also tend to not refresh when I’m off camera too. That’s why I prefer hard hold. With a good wash day and strong hold I can usually just fluff and go on days 2 and 3. Using water to reactivate the product works really well, especially for fine hair. I do that occasionally. Thank you for watching!

I tried using leave-in only before it and that didn't work. I tried curl cream and the foam gel, then leave-in with curl cream and the foam gel and neither method worked either. My last resort is to try next wash day with it by adding my regular gel over the top at the end of styling? If that still doesn't work then it's time to pass it along. Chelle have you tried this product with a gel? I'd be interested to know if you've experimented some more with it. I tried it for the 3rd time yesterday and layered a gel on top, but I still got less hold and more frizz than usual. I did get nice soft curls, though looser than usual, and good volume, but I ended up scrunching a curl cream into my hair this morning, as well as a finishing oil, to cut down the frizz and increase the definition. Guess I'll keep trying things till I use it up, but not sure if I'll buy it again. It's too bad cause I really wanted to love this product.

I actually posted a shop my stash/curly combo video recently pairing it with the Evolvh dream gel. It was a really good combo. I have yet to pair it with a strong hold gel but I think it’ll work really well with AG liquid effects. Hmmm might have to try that next wash day. I think that, like you, I’ll use it up but I’m probably not going to repurchase it. It just doesn’t do much for me to make it a staple. That’s probably why I really haven’t experimented much with it. It’s a great quality product. It’s just not for me.

@@CurlyChelle547 Yeah, same, I'll take a look at your stash/curly combo video, usually skip those lol cause I'm not in the market for new products till I use up all the stuff I have. I've spent way too much on curly hair products. 😄

@@ElaEG completely understandable. And relatable! Lol. That’s actually the premise behind them, is to use what you currently have. My thoughts are that people can hear my reasons for why I’m combining certain products and use that reasoning on their own stash. So many possibilities with what we already have!

@@CurlyChelle547 Makes sense. I just combine things. If it works, I do it again, if it doesn't, I don't. 😃

What do you think would be an effective way of using this product?

I’ll probably use it with both a curl cream and a firm hold gel, preferably one that creates a cast. Probably right between the two and scrunch it in. I think that’ll probably work the best. At least for my hair anyway. I think for fine haired people, maybe skip the cream and use this to define the hair with brush styling or rake and shake. Then follow it with a medium or firm hold gel depending on preference. I’m looking forward to playing around with it! Thank you for watching!
