Looks like when Miranda was scooping up Shepard's brain during the Lazarus Project she threw away the chunk of Shepard's brain that contained his ability to use Warp.

Nothing matches the sheer *ECSTASY* of running around as a Vanguard in 3 with nothing other than the Executioner's pistol. It's one of the happiest experiences I've ever had in a video game.

Give Vanguard the Energy Drain bonus in ME3 and you're next to unkillable, even on Insanity. Love this class.

    • @G_Bez
      @G_Bez 8 месяцев назад +1

Energy drain feels redundant to me. I always pick fortification for that sweet passive power dmg and force bonus (force bonus really improves nova). You're gonna recharge your shields anyway with biotic charge and fast power cooldown. And common shielded enemies get destroyed by a properly upgraded nova (double nova + bonus dmg to shields and barriers).
Vanguard's only weakness are atlas and banshies but you can just pick venom shotgun as a side weapon to destroy them. All other enemies get destroyed by nova and DLC lancer rifle with incendiary ammo + extra ammo capacity + armor piercing mod. Incendiary ammo also primes fire explosions for biotic charge and nova.
With this build you're basically unkillable unless you mindlessly charge into 2 hidden cerberus turrets.

For me I really like Area Reave. It's great for crowd control and priming multiple targets that you can then hit with Miranda's Unstable Warp, followed by a Charge. Allows you to clear out all the mooks while also doing heavy damage to any nearby elites. It's very effective against stuff like Brutes, too. Banshees practically evaporate in the face of this combo.
Like G_Bez, I find Energy Drain redundant considering Charge will fill your shields. While the extra protection is nice, it's not necessary with Garrus and Miranda in your squad and if you're using Charge properly to duck in and out of close-quarters. In ME3, this combo with Nova pretty much crushes everything in its path. You have to replace Miranda with either Liara or Kaiden. In ME 3 I think Liara is the better choice because she can spam Pull, Singularity, and Stasis as quickly as Shepard can Charge and Nova; Kaiden is hardier not quite as spammable as Liara, and also lacks Singularity, but does offer some similar party buffs and other abilities similar to Miranda's.
I agree with you: Vanguard is probably the best class in the game. The most fun, at the very least.

    • @orarinnsnorrason4614

@@TomatoFettuccini recently I tried reave. didn't like it coz the defense thing doesn't last long + you need to waste precious time casting it. Now I go purely with Fortification. Its a one cast only and it stays, no bs. with it you get the best defense possible on max shield/armor build.

Everyone tell me that the vanguard learning curve is harder in ME 2, and once again i take that as a challenge i havent play any other class but my God Vanguard in 2 is so damn fun and when i mix and match my powers with my my guns effectively it brings one big stupid grin across my face! and is so damn satisfying! Combine nova with tech armor and you essentially have unlimited shields and novas. If you spec right. Charge acts as a shield safety net.

  • @homefront1999
    @homefront1999 Год назад +11

I struggled a ton with difficulty. I think I picked the soldier class. But I didn't really understand anything. I remember it was some years later after all the DLC had been out. But I decided to change how I play. I decided to go Vanguard. My god. I realized how truly OP this can be. As long as your able to charge, you're almost unstoppable. I remember checking to see if I was actually on legendary difficulty.
My other favorite class is Sentinel. I got ME2 long ago. Played it, and for some reason I picked legendary right off the bat, my friend in passing told me " Hey the Sentinel has tech armor" I didn't understand it really but picked that. I did not understand how the game restricts you of weapons. I was so frustrated. I even went and bought one of those DLC weapon packs cause I saw it added an Assault Rifle. Still didn't work and I contacted Xbox support to help. Poor lady must've been so confused. But I struggled to get past Omega. And when the Colony Collector attack happened with the final boss area, is when I stopped playing. Then went on to ME3 and eventually worked my way downward through the series.
I decided when wanting to change it up again. To give Sentinel another try. I kind of realized in a way it's almost an easy mode. But then I got to ME3 and while on Legendary, I was speced out for max shields and realized how tanky I have become. I double checked multiple times to make sure it's legendary difficulty. I would even walk out in the open and shoot. Not bothering with cover.
Engineer, Soldier, and Infiltrator are my least favorite. With Engineer I get too bored and annoyed using the turret and other stuff. The infiltrator might've just been a bad run. But felt so eh. But after doing ME1 Legendary Inf, I wasn't too enthusiastic about the rest of the run ( Before Legendary edition) Also it seems almost too specific to using Snipers. I think you can do a melee build but it leans more towards Snipers. This is also the class I carried over into my second playthrough of Andromeda. My first Legendary playthrough of that game as well. Man are enemies tanky in that game. But Soldier feels too blah. Nothing really pushing you to one playstyle. Having large weight capacity is nice but I found I often don't even need all the guns.
Either way, I still wish we got a Platinum equivalent for the campaigns. Imagine not only ME3 being tougher, but also having to fight Collectors, Cerberus, Geth, and Reapers all while escaping Earth or on Thesia. Would've been nice to see something like that in the Legendary edition.

That's different. I'm always a Soldier or an Infiltrator because I just love using a sniper rifle. Particularly using the Viper in 2 or the Black Widow in 3. Being a Soldier with maxed Adrenaline Rush while Shepard, Garrus, and Ashley all have Black Widow's is unstoppable.

Played properly Vanguard is the class that you can run through Insanity without dying or without ever having to use medi-gel. It's ridiculously OP in ME3 combined with Nova if you carry just 1 weapon (I like the Cerberus Harrier for its short/long range capability) and have a 200% reduced cooldown ... you can literally spam charge and nova all day without delay.

i recently finished a full ME LE run (1-3) on insanity, with a Vanguard who ONLY used the Evicerator and Wraith Shotguns. None of the cheesey Venom or Arc gun nonsense.
I modded it as well to make it as immersive a journey as possible and LEMME TELL YOU, it can get BRUTALLY difficult but not because of the actual difficulty, but rather the effin levels themselves.
Grissom Academy gives me PTSD because you gotta get everything just right to fight Cerberus and not get swarmed. No other mission in general is that punishing with your available places to fight from.
Earth isn't as bad, but specifically firing the missiles is pretty rough too. The Banshees are absurdly hard, and they just won't let you stay still for any real period of time. Really aggravating as Vanguard.
Everything else is doable. I never even really used Nova that much because losing shields is usually waaaaaaay too risky, you need that 1-2 bullet sponge to line up the next Charge and point blank shotgun headshot. (Evicerator and Wraith give me just enough range to deal with most things, everything else i have Garrus with a black widow and Javik with a good AR to help out, but no cheesey "GARRUS DPS MAXIMUS AP ROUNDS"

    ME3 vanguard
Bonus power: fortification, for PASSIVE dmg reduction, force and power bonuses. You don't mind the higher power cooldown. You're gonna get 170%+ recharge speed bonus anyway. That's why I prefer it over reave.
Ammo power: incendiary ammo no brainer. Squad cryo for everyone else except ascended garrus.
Nova: double nova + bonus dmg to shields and barriers. A single nova basically depletes all shields and barriers from common enemies.
Weapons: venom for banshies and Atlas (only vanguards weakness), DLC lancer rifle with ammo capacity and armor piercing mods for everything else. Just spray everything with infinite bursts of explosive ammo. Way better than any shotgun due to their limited ammo and high weight.
Use lift shockwave to expose covered enemies, and detonate fire/cryo/biotic explosions from distance when biotic charge is too dangerous.
Run this build and just see everything getting ripped to shreds.

Vanguard's my go to in the first Mass Effect, but never really liked the way it played in ME2 so I switched to Sentinel as my go to there since it still gives me Warp and Throw, but also gives me Overload and Tech Armor. Then I unlock assault rifles with advanced weapons training halfway through the game on the collector's ship, then destroy everything with the Mattock. Then I always switch up my class between games again with Engineer in 3 cause Incinerate and Overload are extremely useful and then being able to deploy a Combat Drone and the Sentry Turret just makes combat a breeze.

Garrus is probably the best squadmate for Vanguard Shep across all 3 games. For ME1, I chose Garrus and Ashley and had them use sniper rifles in all outdoor encounters. Total domination.
For ME2 I've found that the best squad choices for Vanguard are Garrus specced as Turian Renegade and Miranda specced as Cerberus Leader, with Shepard having Reave as their bonus power.
This combo allows you to deal with every protection type in the game, and Miranda's squad buffs to weapon damage make Shepard and Garrus into damage monsters. Give Garrus a Widow and evolve Incendiary Ammo to Squad and he'll basically have an armour-piercing grenade launcher, especially in ME3 (don't bother with AP Ammo - it's not as good as Incendiary, so spend those points on Concussive Shot instead).
For ME3 just repeat the above advice but sub either Liara or Kaiden for Miranda. Liara will prime you to Charge/Nova explosion combos, basically turning you into an artillery piece, and Kaiden will do the same to a lesser degree, but provide better fire support and Barrier/Shield stripping.
Vanguard is the most fun I've ever had playing a game like this.

Vanguard is absurd in ME3. Hard to master due to the high risk/reward nature, but almost an untouchable god of destruction on the battlefield once you figure it out. You do indeed live and die by your cooldowns, so keeping your gun loadout light is paramount. That being said, you can... ALMOST... go the entire game with no guns at all of you really wanted to because of how brokenly strong charge and Nova combo is. At any difficulty level. The only thing they really struggle with is shields and barriers, which can be rectified by an ally with overload or energy drain, or taking energy drain as a bonus power.
