    Awesome, I have been using solar assistant for years, first with my growatt, and now with my 18k’s in parallel, another good way of seeing real time data without solar assistant is with home assistant, which is free, and direct connection between the 18k’s and home assistant, using mosquito mqtt broker

      Oh yeah! I just started messing with Home Assistant! Once you get it set up, it's great! Does take a little computer knowledge to get you started unless you can find some really good tutorials.

    Thanks for looking into using Solar Assistant on LuxPower equipment. I hope you have a chance to test the LuxPower 12K or the EG4 18KPV.

    I read somewhere that you can't use the network dongle and the battery communications at the same time. Do you know if that's true? I'm very interested in Solar Assistant once I get mine installed ( which should be Thursday, FINALLY :D )

    Nice! one thing I saw you do with the 6548 and I did that on mine as well is to use the victron shunt with a VE direct cable to display state of charge with mix matched battery brands or generic batteries to. See SOC broadcasted on SA I’m hoping that is still the case with the 6000xp? Can you confirm? Thanks again!!

    • @AdamDeLayDIY
      @AdamDeLayDIY  2 месяца назад

      Yeah you can still use the Victron shunt for your battery data while using the 6000XP for your inverter and PV data.

    Can this method save each days infon/Solar yield performance etc and log the info "offline" so when I come back to the cabin in a month I can look into each day from that month

    • @AdamDeLayDIY
      @AdamDeLayDIY  3 месяца назад +1

      @@stifflerjj4 Yes. Solar Assistant will save all data it retrieves from the different devices that it’s connected to and gives you the ability to look back at his historical information. The raspberry pie that the solar assistant software runs off of can transmit its own Wi-Fi hotspot for local connectivity. The only thing that cannot be done without Internet is remote access.

      @AdamDeLayDIY  5 дней назад

      @@jose-p2q1u Just an FYI, even though it can be done, the manual does recommend against it.
      Since you don't have any battery hooked up, the inverter will only pull PV necessary for the loads attempted to be run. It won't pull any more than that because it doesn't have any place to put the excess power.

    I was under the Impression that once you load SA to a Rasp and connected it to an Inverter ( I have an MPP 24 volt unit) that you could not use it on another Inv. ? I would like to move up to 48volt with this EG4 6000.... can I still use my old SA software and rasp for this new Inverter? What makes SA better then the latest EG4 web monitor or APP? Like why would you use it? Is it local LAN based, no cloud? Cause you can use the EG4 app local. Real time data? Not sure, interested to know.

    • @AdamDeLayDIY
      @AdamDeLayDIY  7 месяцев назад

      The biggest difference between the EG4 Monitoring app and Solar Assistant is that Solar Assistant displays real-time data. It doesn't require refreshing to see updated data.
      All the processing for Solar Assistant happens locally on a Raspberry Pi (micro-computer) and that allows for the real-time monitoring. I've heard rumors that EG4 is working on a faster data refresh rate but they're concerned about bandwidth issues (which makes perfect sense).
      Solar Assistant does allow for data access without internet, but like you said, so does the EG4 app.
      I'm sure there's some settings that Solar Assistant cannot do that EG4 can.
      The EG4 Monitoring App and website is lightyears ahead of its previous apps for older hardware. If you don't care about real-time data and just care about the occasional glance of data and historical information, I would just stick with the EG4 monitoring app.

      In my case when I tried to connect SA to the inverter, it found the proper serial number (seems to be case sensitive) on the network.
