    Another fantastic video Big B 👏
    This just shows the fun we have with so many variables for RC boats. Motor size, motor Kv, ESC amps, battery voltage, hull size, boat weight, prop size & pitch, hull type, strut length & angle, turn fin depth & angle, trim tab size & elevation... geesh I could go on!
    All the number crunching you do to get all the variables right is just your baseline. The only true way to determine whether you've got it right is to get the boat on the water and "tinker, test and tune"
    Long may you continue doing just that brother, and thanks again for sharing your expertise.

      3 blade has more surface area so it get a better bite in the water low pitch better take off than a 3 blade high pitch more bite at high speed. Basically. There more to it than thus

    Nice video man. I’m running the same 1900kv and a 120a in my px16 and I ran a stock ul19 prop and I’m stuck at 58 mph but I wonder how the 1.7 1.6 high rake would do on the BJ24

      I've tried that prop and it's a little big for the boat it torqs the whole boat over to the point it flips when throttled up. A Subscriber mentioned moving the strut up so there isn't as much prop in the water with the big prop on. I may revisit the ul19 prop one day here shortly and try moving the strut up?

    When I flew a lot of electric airplanes, we would calculate Watts per pound and have a pretty good idea of what to expect in the way of performance. In a way, what Big B is demonstrating here, is that formula can be applied to boats as well, BUT......... The way a boat reacts to its environment is much different than an airplane that has the same thing (air) in every direction. Riding on the boundary between the air and the water throws so many variable into the performance calculations to make them useless. FE Calc and similar programs will get you close, but the only REAL WORLD answers will be testing as Big B demonstrates. In calm conditions, I like small and light. In heavy seas, big and hefty might be better. That's why I like the boats. Every run is a challenge.

      I know the test didn't have no rhyme or reason other than having the big motor and esc laying around and wondering what would happen 🤔 why not right. Took 15min to swap motor/esc why not. Thanks for helping others sift through my Bs rambling. Lol.

    With the bigger motor running you need to move your batteries forward to bring nose down so you can lay Dwn Da power basically same speed but running cooler

    My rough, and i mean ROUGH, understanding Of motor KV ratings is roughly revolutions per volt. if you're running the same voltage battery a Higher KV rated motor will give you a higher top end, Amperage of the esc is a rating of the amount of current the esc can handle not an output rating but a potential current rating, but the current is determined by output and Load on the motor. say you have a motor and boat that draws 50A the lowest amount of ESC rating should be 50A but it would run the same if it had a 60A or a 120A ESC because the motor can only draw what it can draw.

    Hey man I got some questions for you. I recently picked up a used Blackjack 24 and it already has a brass prop on it.. 1st time out it melted the deans connector. I'm thinking the prop is way too agressive for this boat. What's a good stockish metal prop I can put on it. I just ordered a new liner and flex shaft because I believe it's a bit worn because out of water it sounds god awful even if I grease it. Can you help me out. Also side note I made sure the cooling was working as well. It had a good stream coming out the side while I was running it

    Cool video! I wish pro boat made a version of this 24" model, but self-righting(and mono-hull), so I wouldn't have to jump up to the sonicwake. Is there anything like that in the bj24 price range before I pick up a sonicwake? I can't live without self-righting at the moment.

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  11 месяцев назад +1

      That's a high kv motor, I think the 120 flycolor may be a better match, that kv would work on a 20-24 inch lightweight hull on 2s or an outrigger style hull.. Thanks for subscribing. Boats like lower kv motors lots of load, higher kv you'll need to stay with smaller props, always check temps.

    Why not f1st up just out the bigger esc in, c how that goes, then swap the motor, & lower esc, bigger prop, bang a 2,3,5mm bigger prop on & then check speed but also temps. Those r the main things I check in all my boats, & 4 me temp is the most important, if it goes like a jet but u can only do 1 or 2 runs b4 it cuts out or u desolder connectors. Also as u stated torque roll is a big factor, & a hull will have a Max prop it can take & handle, that is also dependant on the setup u run. It's a fine line between fun & flipping it. With cats u can really load 1 side with battery & leave other without, stopping torque roll. But on small boats over proping is a big problem especially in chop, the hull is leaving the water under acceleration & it rotates on the prop. Monos handle it better cos they can full roll, cats just end up bottom up, & it's swim time!! LoL. Good vid, from a great advocate 4 rc boats, ur videos r always with the watch & u share all the knowledge u can, 4 that I that u.
