Yeah it's ridiculous that it's not at least in the reserve group. I'ts a complete map and it even could be a map played in the pro map pool (and it even was played by pros for a while). Valve has no reason to not put it in the game but they still don't do it because they have no idea what the community wants nor any knowledge of the game.
Why does everyone get so hyped about de_season? Is it just because people hyped it up due to it being a remake, so everyone is giving it so much more of a chance than they would otherwise would? It's a pretty standard map, where the path to A is fairly complicated, B is simple, and there is a middle area. It's kind of like a reverse inferno, but worse. It just doesn't add anything new or interesting to the equation, and while visually I think it looks good, the map itself doesn't make much sense. The stairway to A as well as the random ladder up to that small room makes no sense at all, even less so than some of the strange things in other maps. I think the map is just given way too much credit because people hyped it up, and therefore everyone is more inclined to say it's good. I'm not saying it's bad, but lets get something unique in there. Bringing back Mill would be so much better, or maybe take a more interesting operation map like Tulip and try that out. Or at the very least Santorini seems more unique than Season.

Even though I'm warming up to the new inferno I still prefer the old one.I don't think there's anything wrong with having a map that is biased towards a certain side,like cobble for T or nuke for CT.I think it adds an interesting dynamic actually but either way newferno isn't bad either.
I also don't like the CT boost on B where you can look over smokes,the angle from apps onto A long/site,how wide the entrance into B is,the way the pit works now where you can headglitch under balcony looking at long,and the top of banana in general,I mean I understand why the wall is there but it just adds another place for CT's to hide and the area behind the sandbags as you said is IMO way too big.Obviously there are things the new one does well too but overall I still prefer the old one.Maybe a year from now I'll like the new one more who knows.
I really like that you are not prejudging inferno. I think nuke needs bit more rework, but is not that bad. Dust 2 out is good. Mill would be great. Pistols are overpowered. Thorin is my dad. Out.

I think most maps are more T-sided in mm or in pugs unless the CT is playing really well. I think once the pros get a grasp of the CT side it could be more CT sided though. The skyboxes over A apps and missing a few nades from the B site could hurt executes.

old inferno was hard as T in MM, and thats why i loved it so much: the challenge forces strat innovation and that makes for good CS gameplay. we need more super-CT sided maps in the pool
I personally enjoyed the little while season was played competitively, it had a different enough layout to work, but it had issues of its own that would have needed a rework. On the mill/tuscan side of things, one of the recent operations brought in a few maps with a very similar layout but obviously different enough to make it a completely new map, of those I thought coast had some real potential as a competitive map.

We need more maps. But what maps to add? First of all, Season. Secondly, create a competition on creating best competitive hostage maps and make a tournament out of it. Italy is actually pretty balanced if it wasn't for the glitches and stupidly long CT spawn (which makes the chokepoints be very stupid at times)
The new inferno is massively T sided, at least that is the first impression after roughly 30 games on it (Global and beyond) and i dont see it changing in the near future, the rotation time for the cts is longer and certain areas need a much higher focus on precision when you want to smoke them off (yes, because of the wider areas) - both bombsites lack cover (compared to old inf) and especially the A site will be very hard to hold, all these hidden flashbangs that work from carpet? Thats going to extinct every defense, in addition to that, pit and graveyard are slightly more open, its not easy to lurk around there for the cts. I like the new inferno, but it needs a lot of tweeks. Expect T-side domination for at least 3 months.

100% agree that nuke should have been taken out instead of Dust 2. It is clear that Nuke is a map that just does not lend itself to CSGO, regardless of any rework. It just has too much vertical variability for a competitive map. Regardless, think taking out Dust 2 for Inferno is an overall positive for the game. Also I interested in seeing what they will do with the rework of Dust 2, considering how well they reworked Inferno.

I think there is a lot of thought provoking ideas here about why different maps are good. But as far as what Valve is doing I think it's a mistake to change things just for the sake of changing things. They should change things that actually should be changed.
Why not have a 'competitive' map pool of as many maps as are of the quality to produce top level games and then randomly select 5 maps from that pool after every major to be the next 5 maps used until and include the next major? I think it'd help rotate maps in and out faster and provide more shifts in the meta game.

I've been saying this sort of stuff for years. CS:GO is being watered down due to the misinterpretation of the word 'balance'. Valve seem to think the word balance means every map should be 8-7 halves. That every gun in the game should be equally able to beat the other. I say fuck that, let's have super t-sided maps that suit some teams, super ct-sided maps that suit others and some even based maps that play as deciders etc. I say let's get rid of all these crap weapons, instead of buffing and nerfing guns to make everything equal. Let's just have the AK, the M4, the AWP, the UMP, the Scout, the Glock, USP, P250 and Deagle. If that was the game, it would be perfect. Get rid of these shit OP pistols (5/7 and Tec and CZ). Let's get rid of the underpowered weapons that are pointless (most of the SMGs).

Dust2 is a garbage map. Always has been. Glad you brought up the issue of being able to snipe across mid to the doors. I'm a shit Nova4 player with piss poor aim, and even I find it incredibly easy to tag a target crossing over 50% of the time, and then you add in random scout/awp headshots which if you try every round you'll get a couple, this whole dynamic was so broken. The fact that you HAVE to use a smoke/nade to even get to B site is bullshit. The fact that without a smoke/nade you can count the number of players crossing is so broken, and limits ct options on eco rounds so much. I HATE being tagged crossing to B on ct, can't possibly fathom why anyone would would build a map that's so fundamentally broken. When you watch pro csgo, especially Kenny and Guardian who I think are the best at this, they pretty much tag a player every single round. It's just so broken I don't understand why people love Dust2

I still don't understand the reasoning that dust2 is the only map that hasn't been reworked. It has. All the maps reworked so far were maps that had their textures almost completely copied from source. Dust2 was one of the few maps that had its own version upon csgo being released.

Map Pool is too small, watching cbble every fuckin time at the last Major was nightmare. I hope they bring back season and other maps back, some pros even have that nostalgy towards old 1.6 maps

I wish they would remake CPL_Mill and Tuscan as well as bring back Season. those maps are just to good to not have in the roster. honestly how long has it been since they released a new operation? In my opinion Valve is just to busy making new skins and glove models to actually care about the quality of the game, which is what actually keeps this game in business and not the shitty skin market.
