@@Max-nt7ho think this takes place in ancient china (warring states, i believe?) as opposed to imperial china, so the crowned prince is meant to become king, not emperor. basically, i'm of the belief that this show takes place at some time during the zhou dynasty. i'm kind of curious to know which era (ancient or imperial) was more difficult for women in the palace. if this was a qing dynasty drama, hao jia's fate would be much different, for example. 🤔
