I did an experiment: I used butter the first time I made this, it was wonderful and moist....then I used oil!!!! OLIVE OIL. if you make this using oil, please remember to use a very light not strong tasting oil.......please LOL this is what I have learned thank you.

Well, if you used a substitute then you cannot expect the same results. There is a reason why regular sugar is added, it provides the moisture when it melts and blends into the batter

Shireen, I baked this cake twice. In both instances the cake was dense; the second time was not as dense as the first though. I think it's the bake time. I have a Microwave Convection so I think I need to increase the bake time to between 50 to 55 mins (my first cake was 40 mins and second 45 mins). For your info I used 30ml pineapple juice and 30ml milk because the pineapple juice was too sweet.

Hi, I have never tried this in a pressure cooker so I have no idea. However you could try it if you have been making cakes in the pressure cooker. I did not understand your second query. Do you mean that you want to add the syrup to this recipe?

It may be good to use less baking power, because, there's a slight bitterness. I'm not sure if it is the baking powder or something else, but there's a slight bitterness. The texture comes out nice though
From the comments of others on my video I guess the cake shows better results with canned pineapple as it is sweetened by the sugar syrup. When you use fresh pineapple we don’t know the level of sweetness and it ends up giving out a bitter flavor. I had used canned pineapple for this recipe and the taste was perfect

If you use butter at room temperature then I suggest using 1/2 cup itself. The batter in this case may not be as runny/thin so baking time may be lesser. Keep an eye out and check after 35 mins. For a strong flavour and aroma of pineapple use more pineapple essence

Sorry to hear that Karthika! Honestly I have never baked cakes in kadhais so I really don’t know how they work. I am not sure if the heat was adequate enough for the cake. Regarding the bitter taste, did you use fresh or canned pineapple? My cake tasted fine as I used canned pineapple

@@ruchikrandhap Does sugar make the batter thin? The batter was moist, took a long time to even make it edible.
Sugar by itself wont make the batter thin but it will affect the texture and flavour and baking time of the cake

As mentioned above, did you use fresh or canned pineapple? That could be the deciding factor. Apart from that how did you like the cake?

I have not tried an eggless version of this recipe. You may not get the same results if you skip eggs

I have never tried it with butter so im not sure. The baking time may reduce as the consistency of the batter wont be so thin when butter is used

You could try it. Do note that coconut oil has a strong flavour which could overshadow that of the pineapple
