Thanks Taki! Looks promising. Any clue about pricing? Hope we have an option to put our own ssd in it. The screen resolution looks like a missed opportunity for better battery budgets. Wish the refresh rates were lockable such as the Steam deck e.g. 40fps.
700-800 usd for early bird special for the geek version I'm assuming, and then it goes up from there. And yeah, you can replace the ssd. It's not soldered on.
It's impressive but its probably going to be more than the steam deck, and while it is more powerful, the drain on battery life makes it basically not worth it unless tethered to a wall, but I'd definitely say I liked the form factor or the screen blows the steam deck out of the water, I just think the steam deck can do 90% of this and probably cheaper
It's $1,099. So, yeah, a pretty big jump in price. Valve can get away with charging much less, because they're a much larger company and they recoup the cost via Steam games sales.
Can you disable SMT on the CPU cores? That way, the CPU will consume less power which can be used to achieve higher GPU clocks and get better in-game performance
This actually loooks really good. May have to cancel my Loki reserve and just buy this instead because I don't see AYN releasing the Loki on time with the progress their currently making. Also, Ayaneo has a lot of experience with PC handhelds so I'm assuming the quality would be better.

@@TakiUdon Thanks for the quick reply! I've been leaning towards the Neo 2 vs. the Geek, but this may end up swaying my choice. Thanks again for the coverage!
As cool as this is these things are just way too expensive. $1000+ in this market where PC part prices have finally stabilized its a very tough call. You could build a PC and get a Steam Deck as a companion for whatever they’re going to charge for this thing.
True, this is basically a good desktop/laptop price range. This is a tough sell given the steamdeck is also on the market and more readily available. But I hope this is an experiment that will inspire more handheld in the future.
I feel that it would have been better to test at 720p with moderate settings, at 11-15-20-22W, and see if modern games can get to 60fps, aka Cyberpunk, Spider-Man, Elden Ring, etc.. Its a bit silly to test at 26w-30w when that will eat through battery power super quick.
This looks like the ideal device for me because I love handhelds but at the same time I'm hesitant for I fear by the time I get this something better will come out.
Looks so clean. Love no bezels. I might hold out for the slide though because of the aspect ratio and physical keyboard. Maybe if the slides battery is significantly smaller id go for the 2.
As much as I want to like AYANEO 2's next-gen technology, Valve Steam Deck is better for mobile gaming especially in the crucial area of price point. Price it like the handheld that it is, not an entry-level gaming laptop at $1099 starting at retail. Also, I understand you are wanting to be impartial by mentioning the processor temperature differences. However, the Deck's higher temperatures are an immaterial one, which I will explain now. 90-100 Celsius degrees on modern processors is well within safe margins established for full expected longevity. That means such temperatures can easily be maintained for even decades without any degradation to the silicon. On the long-term comfort and fit and feel, you will not feel uncomfortable in the slightest from that heat. Reviewers have noted of the Deck that in practice, the exhaust air temperatures are far cooler than the processor temperatures on the silicon internally. The long and short of it is the extra performance is nice to have, but you will pay for it in battery life that is on gaming laptop levels. I will patiently wait for a Steam Deck 2 that has an actual tablet-class processor (not a laptop one) which is properly tuned across silicon, firmware, and microcode for ultra-low power operation.
I think if Ayaneo made their products at a reasonable price for the average consumer, they would be leading the handheld market. This handheld seems like a step in the right direction as it looks and (supposedly) feels more comfortable. Which a lot people are looking for in their collection.
It's not possible, Valve is taking a loss on the Steam Deck because they can make up the difference with game sales. Ayaneo has not other way to make money after the device is sold. I'm sure they could lower the price but the quality would take a massive dip. It sucks because I would love this to be more affordable, I would even consider switching from my Steam Deck.
I wish you would have shown the size of this compared to the Steam Deck. I bought a Steam Deck but was so turned off by its massive size. I just received may AYA NEO Air Pro and its mind blowing how portable it is. I'm looking to see how the AYA NEO 2 looks compared to the Steam Deck in terms of size!
In all fairness, the advantage of playing old retro games on such a powerful device is that you can upscale well, and maybe even utilize wide-screen hacks without any compromises.
Once again steam deck wins there...but it's a logical fact, aya don't have the R&D teams and the economic power of valve, which can send us a really power house for 400 bucks, and wich stands UNBEATABLE on the 3 to 12W department, a beast of a device... Little corps like aya can't compete on the performance/price/ reliability, but it's cool that such devices exists, no doubt about it...
These devices are sold for €1000+ Truly impressive hardware and a glimpse into the future. This is what the Switch could be like in 15 years if we're lucky.
Those hotkey buttons looks small but I do like the idea of having buttons there as well as on the underside. Not sure what I would mape them to in game though. @@Mantenner agree 100% on those things being better .. there are better things on each side except that the price is the defining factor for many users .. glad you're enjoying your Steam Deck, what an era we are witnessing!
@@titos7050 The deck can run Windows just fine as well.
For the 1200p model with 16gb and 512gb ssd is 1100$ retail
That's a bold statement Aeya if it's good enough I might consider looking into it
It's impressive but its probably going to be more than the steam deck, and while it is more powerful, the drain on battery life makes it basically not worth it unless tethered to a wall, but I'd definitely say I liked the form factor or the screen blows the steam deck out of the water, I just think the steam deck can do 90% of this and probably cheaper
It's $1,099. So, yeah, a pretty big jump in price. Valve can get away with charging much less, because they're a much larger company and they recoup the cost via Steam games sales.
I cannot wait to pre order this 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Can you disable SMT on the CPU cores? That way, the CPU will consume less power which can be used to achieve higher GPU clocks and get better in-game performance
yep 6/12 should be fine for almost every game
LOVE this video. Can I suggest putting the names of the games you are playing on screen briefly during transitions?
That bezel-less OLED screen looks amazing. Holly cow.
It's not Oled
If I bring this machine and travel back to 1990, I think people would believe me as a person guised by an alien.
This actually loooks really good. May have to cancel my Loki reserve and just buy this instead because I don't see AYN releasing the Loki on time with the progress their currently making. Also, Ayaneo has a lot of experience with PC handhelds so I'm assuming the quality would be better.
Up to 8tb on this bad boy, nvme
@@yorkyalmanzar8959 the larger the ssd the higher the power draw and heat dissipation. i would research if you should put such a large storage in a handheld
@@OvidiuBuleandra works on my onexplayer 1165g7
if you dont have a handheld pc yet you can get anything and they are all quite good as long as they are unlocked hardware and you can install any OS you want (unlike switch and android devices)
but if you already have a handheld pc you can use, i recommend you wait for steam deck 2 because i guarantee you it will leapfrog the specs of everything else again, remember how when steam deck first shipped there was actually nothing else shipped with RDNA2 yet because valve got there first
@@tacokoneko I would rather pay more for a smaller and cleaner device though. The steam deck is just too chunky and ugly for me haha. Also, the screen is only 1280 and looks washed out to me.
Taki is back!!
Wow, that looks so clean. I love the glass on the entire face, but hate the fragility that comes with this. I have kids and I’m not sure how it would last with them running around. I already am very careful with my deck, but accidents, even from myself, do happen. I’d wonder how easy/difficult replacement and repairs would be.
I was looking at their site and it looks like there are screen protectors that cover the entire front
@@patron7906 That would be great! I shudder to think of what a mess an entire front would be if it were cracked.
@@patron7906 screen protector is only for scratch glass is glass if it's fall it will break
As somebody who already bought one and is just waiting for it to ship, I'm super excited for this product! Any weirdness you've noticed plugging into displays and trying to use external controllers?
How big of a detriment do you think having the face buttons stacked (as opposed to offset) to comfortable gameplay?
It might have been if the analogs weren't sitting lower than they do on an Xbox controller. The Geek version of this has the same processor and off-axis sticks.
@@TakiUdon Thanks for the quick reply! I've been leaning towards the Neo 2 vs. the Geek, but this may end up swaying my choice. Thanks again for the coverage!
PS3 and 360 emulation is a big seller for me. They had some really good games and I'd like to play them again!
when this was announced i thought the concept art of the bezel-less design was just gonna be lost eventually. that’s a stunning screen.
Man! I am super excited for the amd 6800u handhelds!
@@backpain100 for 1k you can get 6800h with 3050ti laptop. So I agree.
That Fullscreen display is beautiful 😍
I feel that it would have been better to test at 720p with moderate settings, at 11-15-20-22W, and see if modern games can get to 60fps, aka Cyberpunk, Spider-Man, Elden Ring, etc.. Its a bit silly to test at 26w-30w when that will eat through battery power super quick.
Use a powebank
@@manjindersinghsaini911 use a laptop, same vibes. 720p is a better option.
Thanks for including Sekiro 😊
SD2 will not have "tablet-class" processor, not even 1% change if you're talking about ARM. If you meant x86 then still it's just not possible .
@@danieldev514 Agreed, if you want a low powered ARM tablet CPU then get a Switch. x86 is way more powerful and more open
I can’t wait to see the battery life of this system
ZERO BEZELS ! 😱
They're hidden! I wonder why more manufacturers don't do this, it looks so nice! 😍
I've come back to this video multiple times and I still can't get over how this looks. I'm still almost not convinced it's real lol
I’m thinking which one to get Aya Neo 2 or GPD Win 4? But I feel like my Big Bet is on GPD WIN 4 cause I like the design of Psp
Agreed, the screen looks amazing, wow!
I won't ever buy any of these products ( I already own pretty much everything ) but I watch your videos because they're made so well 😊
What a beautiful device, the screen is amazing
By far the best looking handheld so far thanks to the all-glass front design, pretty cool.
I think hall sense should become a must for all handhelds because replacing them isn't a simple process.
All of these high end handheld PCs become an overkill GBA emulator, and I am SO ready for this one 😂
In all fairness, the advantage of playing old retro games on such a powerful device is that you can upscale well, and maybe even utilize wide-screen hacks without any compromises.
I’m with you on that one I want this so I can play my Pokémon blue and silver 😂
Come a long way since i played my Sega Gamegear :P
Once again steam deck wins there...but it's a logical fact, aya don't have the R&D teams and the economic power of valve, which can send us a really power house for 400 bucks, and wich stands UNBEATABLE on the 3 to 12W department, a beast of a device...
Little corps like aya can't compete on the performance/price/ reliability, but it's cool that such devices exists, no doubt about it...
Looks amazing ...pls pls pls make this more affordable aya team
i will wait for valve to make a deck 2 at 400/550/650$
Hopefully it's very soon
it looks amazing but i am more interested in the slide/gpd win 4.
$1100 device which can emulate $300 device...
It cost 699
You seem to be leaving out the fact that it runs ps3 games at upscaled resolutions, past native.
Oh lord the screen, looks amazing.
That screen looks crazy. I wish I had a desktop monitor that looked that good.
i always like the aesthetics of Taki's review
I can't wait to have Aya neo geek on my hands 🔥
Super clean looking design.
Thanks… please do more videos with ayaneo 2, i want to buy the Retro Power version..
Beautiful screen, links awakening looks amazing on it.
Kudos for testing Drakengard 3. A man of taste.
Hey Takii,
Any reason why you didn’t receive a review copy of the GPD WIN MAX 2? Really appreciate your reviews
The screen on this one looks great!
That is an amazing looking screen! Wow...
I can't wait to get one!
It looks Beautiful! 😍
Wow this thing is beautiful looking I love it and that screen looks amazing just wish it was more affordable
I’d love to see the version with the 1280x800 screen too
These devices are sold for €1000+ Truly impressive hardware and a glimpse into the future. This is what the Switch could be like in 15 years if we're lucky.
I would love to see this support external GPUs over USB-C/Thunderbolt :)
It does, the dock has usb 4.0
So how big of difference in performance vs the steam deck?
Those hotkey buttons looks small but I do like the idea of having buttons there as well as on the underside. Not sure what I would mape them to in game though.
Funny fact I found a PS2 controller with the start and select buttons in that location and the home button (analog) on the opposite side. Lol
It has some vibes of PS vita , with oulines over sticks and D pad, and looks generally like a bigger with with a grip case on back. Like it!
