@@greenonionsalad It’s still vague. Like for the speed impact explanation, it says “during the single strike, players must match inputs with what is being shown on the screen” but it doesn’t explain weather you have to tap or hold square, when to press the boost and when to press the square button, do I wait before the big circle matches with the little circle, do I press it before it gets to the little circle, what and how does the boost effect the input. It does not explain these things in depth. Very stupid
3:04 on boosting, you’ll only enter the fatigued state if the amount of boost’s you used exceeds the amount of ki you have, each boost is one bar of ki. So throwing one, two, or all three in is typically fine as long as you don’t overreach.
Didn't know about that. But now I kinda already got used to the standard controls to the point I even prefer them over classic (even tho I played Tenkaichi for 10 years)
If you press the explanation button in training it will explain how the clashes work better. For speed impact, the game explicitly states that winner is determined purely by who more accurately stops the closing ring in the first part of the clash. The button mashing competition after just determines how much damage is done to the loser. At that point the clash was already won or lost, just that nobody knows who yet.
That's why I like the fact that you can change specific controls and make it custom instead of specifically classic or standard controls. In other words you can have for example classic controls but for clashes instead of it being classic and spinning the anaIog I change it to standard so I can mash instead. Like the video creator said these controllers aren't cheap.
Surprised no one’s said this yet but there’s a little more to the power impact than that, you gotta button mash after getting as high as you can from holding it I think
Great video and just some other notes to add: Boosts cost exactly one Ki bar, and you will only get fatigued if you press for more than the Ki you actively have going into the clash You CAN change your clashes to be a button mash instead of stick rotation while using Classic controls in your settings.
Ngl i'm kinda sad that these cheap controllers have ruined clashes. I can tell that they probably intended to have the original style included but couldn't because the vast majority of players would have broken controllers after only a week playing this. They're using decades old technology in these controllers yet they still cost $60 dollars.
We've had hall effect sticks for years but these companies do not give, and as someone who dug into her PS5 controller like I was doing surgery not too long ago they also make it impossible for the average person
Great video! I will still continue to lose my clashes bc I have the reaction time of a grandma ;w; That super quick flash of life will be the death of me.
@@LotusAsakura Important side note when your character is exhausted after boosting a clash, mash the face buttons as it makes the exhaustion go away quicker
Yeah honestly wish clash mini games were longer. So far in my experience they dont even happen that often and it would reduce the confusion and scrambling people do when it pops up. Plus it would make it feel more like a power based clash and less like a reaction time thing.
I also recommend playing story mode they help a lot. Yes you can spam them to clear the mission however if you fight them it helps with defense in all areas
The game explains the impacts in the tutorial by hitting triangle in the selection screen. For speed impact the 1st part determines who wins. The better the timing in part 1 means you’ll win the impact. Part 2 (the mashing) determines how much damage you do in the clash.
I do think they need to redesign the gauge that is getting filled during the beam clash because it’s hard to tell when it’s actually being filled. Same with making the dash impact “when to press” the button prompt
Thanks for clearing the crash impact up. I didn’t realize there was more than just simply pressing it first. Edit: I appreciate the guides you’re putting out a lot.
I noticed that when doing the grab impact. It’s not just holding square. I noticed that once you hold it You also have to have a tap battle to see who holds it longer. If you don’t tap after getting bar high. Your bar just goes back down again. It’s almost like Timing/ and then speed. Whoever has better timing can get a higher bar but then you gotta still spam to fight for the grab. If you don’t spam you can end up losing the grab despite having better timing on the hold. You can also feel a rumble in the controller as you do it as if you’re literally fighting the other persons spam
The blast impact/beam struggle can be mashed too as stated in the tutorial for blast impact. If you press the Info button before entering the blast impact training, it states that it can either be timed or mashed.
struggle beam moves when you press/hold the button. the reason why holding is better than mashing for this clash is because holding the button has less time off of the button than mashing. Think of the mashing, and every time you lift up your thumb, you're losing some struggle bar, even if its for just a couple of frames. But if you hold the button, you leave the button was less and as a result, are building more charge because you aren't missing those several frames of charge that you would lose from mashing. lotus just showing us whats optimal
Great video. Though I feel they forgot to do the teleport clashes (where you see the opponents briefly disappear then you see the aftershocks of the two's teleporting hits), where the winner launches the the opponent around the map.
It was similar too the third type of clash except it was done during juggling your opponent/teleporting variously around them. In Budokai Tenkaichi 3 I think, it was mainly done if one opponent has a type of teleporting melee special attack and the opponent does the same or activates a melee special to counter.
5:06 don’t worry I play on Xbox and the inputs are automatically translated in my brain. I have both consoles. I’m pretty sure everybody is in the same scenario.
I haven't watched your beginners guide video yet but can you teach us the mechanics on defense? I'm stuck on beating Jiren with MUI Goku in the last mission for the TOP arc. I know some of how the mechanics work but I can't vanish in time or I'm stuck just getting hit nonstop for 5 minutes by the opponents on story mode or online. It's pretty frustrating when I'm losing 2-3 bars of health and I can't get out of that particular situation. If you have gone over this in your beginner's guide then let me know please. Thanks
2:30 now even though only the first sequence of timing the button press matter, but does mashing in the second phase allow the loser to debate some damage since they’ve already lost they first sequence?
Im pretty sure you can still win a crash impact with 2 losses at the start idk why but I was in an episode battle with I think goku black and I thought the arrows were pointing based on the location of the model character after it happened to me i was mashing ofc
Me and my friend were testing the beam clash out and when we did it he said he didn’t press any buttons while I was tapping triangle as soon as it got close to the end of the meter and somehow he still won the beam clash even tho I had tapped triangle everytime the meter had filled up to a certain point
So during beam clash you need to press the button early on on your third bar? No wonder I kept losing all beam clashes, I've just been waiting patiently for it to fill up before pressing.
I still just can't get grab clashes to go in my favor, i hold the button until it reaches the bar then let go and it immediately drains all the way down and when i try to hit the button again it instantly cracks and fails
Does anyone else beam struggle and power struggle not show the orange fill up bar? Bc my doesn’t at all in story mode I haven’t tried it out in any other modes

You can specifically adjust your preference for the spinning the stick vs mashing square on impacts, save your sticks AND use classic controls.
