I really loved proton uk model. Because most of the model equip with MPI engines including the safety features. Except Domestic model in Malaysia, most of the features are optional.

Correct!, it is Proton Saga Iswara in Malaysia. In Malaysia the colour code for this car is Jati Brown. Jati is the word for teak wood in Malay. This car in Malaysia had dark brown interior too.

In Malaysia, this model, first generation proton saga, iswara saloon and the previous model saga (1.3L and 1.5L 12v same engine as iswara) still many on the road. There also aeroback version (4 doors hatchback). Still relevant and easy to maintain except the saga 1.3L, 1.5L 8v orion, magma, it's part are hard to find and so expensive (80% parts are from Mitsubishi Japan)

Proton Iswara 1.3s was my first car. Bought brand new in 1994 for RM34k. Waited for 6 month after booking. That was the demand, back then.

I love this, we have had 3 protons overs years mainly saloons but I’m currently trying to restore my mums old 93 Areoback, finding it difficult to track parts down particularly body panels but I’m going to persevere for as long as it takes, great video 👍🏾

u can search proton malaysia for any part u need.

It is boxy. I think your local blacksmith and welder can create body panels for you. The plastic parts are harder, but you could try making replica parts using fibreglass.

This is a very high spec Proton Saga Iswara. Back in 1992, in Singapore, this will be a 1.5 litre model, having the same chrome bumper trim, blacked out door pillars. 1.3 models will have colour coded door pillars and dechrome bumper trim. And we do not have fog lights and sunroof, but we have all round power windows for both variant then.

Outstanding condition. Steph (idriveaclassic) found an L reg MPI 1.5 Triple Valve that had been in a garage for 10 yrs with just 10k on it. It fired right up.

Here in Malaysia this colour was only available on the first batches of the Saga Iswara. The 1.3 here does not come with a full wheel cover,instead it has the steel wheels with a centre cap on it. Only the 1.5 gets a full wheel cover treatment. Otherwise nice car you got there mate!

Evening John, do you know who can help with a leaky sunroof, are new seals available, my car is a 1989 1.3 GLS fastback, cheers Steve

Hi Steve. In your '89 you will have a Webasto Top Slider sunroof (assuming you are in the UK) sadly these seals are no longer available. I'd suggest either removing and resealing The sunroof with silicone or if it's leaking via the glass seal, silicone it down but mask off the glass internally so when dried the silicone forms a new seal and you remove the masked glass tape so it still works.
It's a difficult one

uk get much better version than our local malaysian market. we paid much more than uk ppl, we get only a carburator whilst uk version got an injection and with sun-roof. and i believe tht catalyst is mean for catalytic converter which only modern car have.
