OMG I've been searching for a video like this since 2015. Thank you very muchhhh
Thanks mate. I’m very glad I could help put your long journey to an end. Hope you enjoyed it!
Your channel is amazing. Keep up the the great work mate!
Thank you so so much. I will aim to do so 😁
My favourite song of all time learnt basics slowly but lost on getting the sounds lol
Thanks for the tutorial man, that was awesome. Do you know how Matt controls the fuzz factory with a knob on his guitar? That's how he usually seems to control it live
Thanks man. that guitar has a fuzz factory built into it and the two controls on the guitar that you can see are the comp and stab controls
@@harrychrisrobin Lmao, that's insane, I love it! Appreciate the response brother
i highly recommend you to put the phase 90 before the distortion or the fuzz in the chain maybe you'll like it because the phase sound coming from the back of the distortion otherwise the phase feels more intense
Thanks! since i made this video i've added the boss ES8 into my rig so i can change the order of effects per patch so its way easier to put the phase first. To me its a minor change but still worth experimenting with
So many guides focus on the fuzz factory tone, it's great to have a complete guide to this song. One question though - what do you have after the pedalboard? Direct or amp?
Thank you so much. Yeah there’s loads more to this song than just the fuzz factory. It’s only used for the riff and nothing else
After the board its straight to my amp simulation for me
can you describes or make video for plug in baby guitar tone in absolution tour, because It sounds kinda different, and its more epic. Thank you!
The more videos I watch the more I realize how cool you are lul hahaha
haha those are your words. I'd never describe myself as cool, just a huge nerd
What kind of pedal board do you have?
Hey, does amp matter in these songs (also talking about other muse songs) or is it the pure pedals your getting this super tone off? Cool vod btw.
Thank you so much for your support!!
Amp does matter, I wouldn't use an amp with a small driver (speaker) it would get the frequencies you want. Little practice amps are good for just the practicing for the most part but for beefier sounds you'd want an amp with a larger speak and one that you can control more aspects of its frequency content. I.e. bass, middle and treble, as well as gain, presence and pre and post amp volume.
The way I see it, there's never just one thing that makes a good guitar tone. It's every single thing in your chain, or not in your chain, that makes your tone. Right from your fingers down to the amp you're using. I've never rely on just pedals to get the sound I want, it's everything else as well.
@@harrychrisrobin do you think I could get muse tones out of a peavey studio pro 112?
You can certainly try to get them. But there's more to being a guitarist than just trying to emulate the sounds of guitarists you like. I would strongly encourage you to find a sound that you personally like just because you think it's a good sound and go with it.
@@harrychrisrobin that’s definitely true, but i would like something a bit similar, my amp isn’t the best so I was thinking of a vh4 pedal wich will emulate Matt’s diezel a bit. But what settings on the amp would you recommend and should I get the vh4 or maybe like the prime dist or the boss dist/od?
@@youkjonges8151 i've not used a vh 4 so i can't give an opinion on it. i have the MXR prime distortion and the Boss os-2 and they're great pedals and really sounds great. you should do your own research and find what pedals you like the sound of. but remember the amp you use is important too so keep that in mind.
Dumb question, but can you use any phase pedal instead of getting a Phase 90?
Great question. If you want that sort of sound then you’ll need a phase pedal. It doesn’t have to be a phase 90 but you’ll want that phase modulation sound. So I would say it doesn’t matter what modulation pedal it is you have, as long as it is a phase and not flange or chorus
That volume pedal, can you use that on the fuzz factory? Instead of having to use your hands to make the stab noise
great idea but sadly no
@@harrychrisrobin dang
What ever happened to the video you had where you explained how your pedal board was set up with the KP2 pad? I could use some advice on how to properly set it up with my board, I also have the PXL 8 like you used to have . How would I go about it?
I took it down as it was super out of date and i didn't like the production of those videos, it was way back in the early days of the channel. i'd like to make a new set of videos coving my gear and in more details. If you want to integrate the KP2 in your rig i would suggest that you have it fairly on in your signal chain, before your drives would be good. That way your drives, delays and modulation effects can affect it. You'll obviously need to have phono to jack cables to connect the pad too, i wouldn't use the mic and headphone ins/outs personally.
@@harrychrisrobin appreciate the input! I’m just a little confused on what exact cables I would need and weather I should just have it as the first thing before my board? Or somewhere in between a few pedals? Because I am currently still using the PXL 8 , so not sure where exactly to place it in the chain, I can send a picture of my board if it helps
@@michaelg.nathan1386 you will need 2 phono to jack cables to go in the line in and out of the kaoss pad. I have mine pretty much at the start of my board so any of my pedals can affect it
@@harrychrisrobin you mean TRS 1/4 inch to dual RCA?
@@michaelg.nathan1386 yeah but you don't need it to be a TRS, either side is a mono signal. but yeah you got it
What do u think about a telecaster as ones only Electric?
I love telecasters but I have mine modded so it isn’t a standard tele
@@harrychrisrobin please do tell me about those mods :o
@@Daniel-fn1tm I have a man mbk-1 in the bridge. I really enjoy the p90 tone
Sound really incredible, too much close to matt sound on that song, but, matt uses humbucker pickups(p90) in their guitar, and you uses a single coil, it's only observation, you know I love you job, keep doing this, your rules
Aaron Ramos thanks man. I’m using a p90 in my tele. I had my tele modded to fit a humbucker sized p90. It’s the mbk 1 which I believe is the pick up Matt is using in the mirror Manson used for plug in baby. Glad you like the video man
@@harrychrisrobin ohhhhh i see it, haha, sorry sorry, your arm cover that part of the guitar
@@kerhaps7796 not to worry man. yeah the mic covers up my picking hand haha
@@kerhaps7796 a P90 is not a humbucker dude
can u please do preasure
Yes of course I can. That would be a great song to do a sound like for 😁
Hey mate! I have problems with my fuzz factory: if I turn it on starts to oscillate and won’t stop with anything, did you have the same problem with it?
Hi mate. I’m sorry you’re having problems with it. I’ve never had that problem that it makes a noise even with the gate and/or comp turned up. Have you checked the power supply or battery and the jack cable???
@@harrychrisrobin I’ve tried different cables but the problem persists. Do you use battery or power supply?
@@ThomDLuffy strange. I use a power supply. I’m sorry I can’t help with this problem. It’s hard to figure out just over text isn’t it
@@harrychrisrobin indeed! I will test with battery as I am using also a power supply, nevertheless, thank you so much for making some time to answer all of the question I’ve had!
@@ThomDLuffy I do hope you resolve the issue soon. Always happy to help where I can 🤟
YEEEES, nice vid. Please do whit Stockholm syndrome. I have the cort mbc 1 whit mbk 2 and sustainiac pickups. Zvex fuzz factory, whammy, phase, delay dd5 and fuzz head. Im saving money for a marshall dsl40c, way better than my roland cube x20 that sound like plastic
Im looking to use the ultra gain channel whit the fuzzhead. I read on reddit that combination will make somethin near to muse guitar tone... what do you think?
Marshall DSL40CR*
Gonzalo Sariego Castro nice set up man. I can’t say if that’s close to the muse sounds, I’ve not used all of that gear before I’m afraid
How to sound Unsustainable
Funny you say that. I've got that one ready to go. Might go out next week
Chorus sound is not right. Listen to the isolated stems.
