2m SSB portable with old Icom IC-202

Activity in the last week of March 2024. Tuesday was the vertical polarisation SSB net. Sunday was other SSB activity. The highlight was a contact with a firmware modified Quansheng UV-5K handheld which can transmit a DSB signal. With this setup you can get a useful portable station that can communicate with SSB operators for about $70.

* Monday 7:30pm 432.310 MHz
* Tuesday 7:30pm 144.310 MHz
* Wednesday 8:30pm 144.150 MHz
* Thursday 8:30pm 144.190 MHz (VK3 - VK7)
* Sunday 8:30am 144.125 MHz
* Sunday 8:00pm 144.300 MHz

I have several or more IC202, one with a 1296MHz Minikits transverter fitted into the battery compartment, with external PA, and another with a Mutek high performance front end, and maybe another as a 10GHz IF.

Great fun! The rig is working like a champ. I was a teenager when these came out and couldn't afford one. Sadly, the price now here in the States is outrageous. This rig, even in rough shape, is several times what you paid.
