The basic deal with Crowley is that he doesn't mind doing evil things, only his idea of evil is different from the other demons. He's not diabolical or completely devoid of morals or compassion or something, he's just a troublemaker in a more serious sense. If armageddon comes, it will destroy everything and he doesn't want that to happen--same as Aziriphale--because they both love the world and all that.
Yeah I thought so. Like he’s evil enough to be a nuisance, but not enough to be vastly immoral. His character is definitely my favourite

@@DanReadd My favourite thing about Crowley's antics is that while they can have some serious consequences, like the phone network not working may make people angry and take that out on other people, that's absolutely on those other people. And Crowley always is a victim of his own plans as well, he brought down the phones and then he tries to contact Aziraphale. In the book he glues coins to the street and then later tries to pick them up. You've seen the rest of the show, Crowley makes a motorway to spread bad feelings and always be congested, a motorway he himself lives nearby and has to use on occasion. He doesn't really think it through. :D
Hahahahaha omg yes!!! 😂 karma in action 😂 it’s so funny seeing him get infuriated with his own devious plans and the consequences they generate hahahaha. But hey... it shows him that his plans are successful I guess hahaha 😂
@@DanReadd :P I think it just goes to show that Crowley and Aziraphale share one brain cell between them and occasionally that brain cell just sits in limbo. I think at this point that's generally accepted in the fandom. :P They're both pretty incompetent. :D

Just for context, I don't think it spoils anything to let you know that this series is actually based on a much beloved novel co-written by Neil Gaiman and the late Sir Terry Pratchett. Both are fantasy writers, Pratchett a satirical fantasy writer, kind of the way that Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) writes science fiction, if you are familiar with any of their work. This book was so well beloved, and was talked of being produced as a movie for about 30 years before this mini series actually came to fruition, that they were able to get a number of big names in some of the roles. The angel's boss is Jon Hamm, noted for his work on the prestige drama Mad Men, the American Diplomat is Nick Offerman, best known as Ron Swanson on tv's Parks and Recreation and the voice of God is played by Academy Award winner Frances McDormand. There are tons of other cameos as well, a couple of other notables are also voice roles. And yes, after viewing this Staged is essential viewing, best thing to come out of 2020.
Yeah one of my friends has told me the book is one of her absolute favourites!!! Oh wow I think you’re like the 5th person to suggest staged 😱 seems like a no brainer to watch it!!
The issue is that he doesn't want the world destroyed. He's not as evil as the other demons. When he fell with the other fallen angels, he wasn't trying to. He got caught up in the wrong crowd, and was banished. Thus, he isn't all that evil.

And btw the hellhound isn't really evil anymore - I mean, they said that the name would have give him his purpose (expecting that the child would have call him something evil like Killer, Terror, etc), BUT Adam called him DOG, so... His purpose is just being a dog LOL

Everyone seems drawn to it ‘cos of David Tennant and I’m here cos of David Tennant and Michael Sheen..... Even Neil Gaiman, the book by him and Terry is amazing! Would recommend.

Aw, I am glad you appreciate it. One of the fun things about the music, aside from the Queen soundtrack, is it changes styles for the credits every episode.
Daniel Mays was in Line of Duty, and Des (with David Tennant.) Nina Sosanya was the mom in Fear Her. She and DT have done lots of projects together.
Michael Sheen and David Tennant star together in Staged, a lockdown series, with their significant others. They just play fictionalized versions of themselves, stuck at home during the pandemic. It is hilarious. They just filmed it themselves on zoom and on their phones. Each episode is only 15 minutes long.
I knew it!! She looked so familiar and I was certain it was from fear her! I have heard of the Lockdown series ‘staged’. Perhaps I’ll have to give it a watch 😁😁 my favourite thing about good omens so far is the genre diversity and the sound track!!!
@@DanReadd Apparently, originally, they were only given permission to use a couple of songs, but when the Queen movie fell through in the early stages, they went ahead and told them they could use whatever they wanted.
The queen music really suits Crowleys vibe so I’m glad hahaha 😝

Omg yes!! The acting is amazing as the characters are so vastly different 😱 but he reminded me of Peter Vincent off of fright night, so I was totally prepared for the weird haha
I watched Good Omens and after that Broadchurch, a year ago. It was equally soooo weird ahaha. And the definite proof Tennant is an amazing actor!
@@WeirdMaRy91 For me it was the exact opposite! The David Tennant experience, I mean. I watched Broadchurch first and THEN Good Omens... and since then, I was just... hooked. Binge-watched pretty much every film and TV series he’s in *except* for Doctor Who (because I wasn’t, and still am not, quite ready to sell my soul to him 😂)! He’s an amazing actor, and I’m so happy I found a reaction channel that appreciates his talent this much!
@@qdkdicja10 me too! Definitely hooked. Or I must say, a bit of a junkie now ahaha I still have to see some of his series and movies BUT.... I started Doctor Who some months ago. And yes, that was selling out the soul, you're right. But it's a wonderful experience, totally worth it! :D Now I'm going for the specials that ends his run as The Doctor.

I love this little universe, with all the absurd details and all the jokes about religion. And yes, both Crowley and Aziraphale want to prevent the end of the world, because, unlike the rest of the angels and demons, they've been on Earth for thousands of years and come to enjoy the human world. That's what Crowley is using to convince Aziraphale to help him, he is tempting him (that is his talent), with food, and wine, and books, and music, all the things that would not even exist in the eternal Heaven.

Yes it’s such an adorable, hilarious universe! Also Liam Neeson must say “I will find you” in ever movie he plays 😁 I do like his movies, just sometimes they feel like knockoffs or too repetitive
On the point about the "Doctor Who references", first I think it's hard to find British media without Doctor Who references and second Neil Gaiman (one of the authors of the book and the showrunner for Good Omens) has written Doctor Who episodes

Kinda went off it when Matt Smith (and Steven Moffat) took over, I liked it better when Capaldi took over and then it felt too childish when Whittaker came on board. Probably good as it's supposedly a kids show but it wasn't interesting me. So, I'm not up-to-date.
BTW, if you like Good Omens and Doctor Who, you should really check out Neverwhere when you have the time. It's another fantasy / sci-fi show made by Neil Gaiman.
Yeah I feel like a lot of people dropped off at similar points. Also I agree that the new seasons feel too childish. I’ll definitely give that show a look into as well 😁
I love how Crowley walks on the side towards the street, even switching when they cross to keep himself as the one next to the traffic. (Outside of this, you will generally find Crowley on "the sinister left" side, as Robin Williamson might say.
I guess you'd get used to someone from work after 6,000 years...
He isn't trying to get him to go to hell. He is trying to convince Aziraphale to help him stop Armageddon. They both like the world, and they don't want to see it destroyed, but Aziraphale feels loyal to God's Great Plan, and Crowley is trying to show him that the Great Plan is a load of bollocks if it requires all of Earth to be destroyed.

I had the pleasure of seeing Terry Pratchett give a talk shortly after the book came out. The relationship between Aziriphale and Crowley started as a pastiche of two cold War field agents from opposite sides who have spent so long in the field that they now have more in common than they have with their superiors.
he's channeling Ten A LOT in the whole series(and there are a ton of "Who" Easter Eggs to go along with that, also director's orders etc.)

I've seen _Broadchurch,_ but you came up in my recommended because I've gone crazy with watching _Good Omens_ reactions after season two. I love that you don't know a lot about it (at the point you started this--obviously, awhile ago).

Thank you for checking out Good Omens! It's a great show. I have realized that all my current favorite shows are at least a little bizarre if not completely so. Good Omens and Lucifer are slightly bizarre and have a lot of fun and they get serious in all the right moments. Misfits has the most bizarre super powers that I know of. Mork & Mindy is hilarious, a bit bizarre, and has a lot of heart. The League of Gentlemen is the most bizarre show I have encountered yet, it's creepy, funny, and sometimes serious, it's quite dark. Sorry for this long comment that doesn't quite have much to do with this.
Wait. Hold on. Is league of gentlemen the show the same as ‘The league of extraordinary gentlemen’???????? The film? If so I had no idea a show exists omg hahaha. Also if you like bizarre things, I imagine you’d like the kings man franchise?? I love this films, and if you haven’t seen them I highly recommend giving them a watch!
@@DanReadd No. The League of Gentlemen has nothing to do with the movie The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The League of Gentlemen is a show written by 4 British men and almost all of the characters are played by 3 of them.

When DT came to a Dallas Fan Expo his hair was VERY red. It was really disconcerting. That was a very funny panel, if you like those things. The entire audience laughed the whole time.

It's been so long since I saw "The Girl in the Fireplace," but I really prefer to think of the Doctor and Crowley as very separate people. (There are references on here, occasionally.)
Crowley is actually quite morally decent, objecting to the killing/harming of innocents, especially children and animals, though when Aziraphale points out a good thing that he has done, he goes ballistic and denies very strongly that he's good or nice. (Keeping up appearances to keep other demons off his back.) And he has suffered for it (see season 1 episode 3), but that doesn't stop him. Oh, and there are a few episodes where it's like he's channeling the Doctor. (If you haven't guessed, yes he is my favorite.)

The original book had 2 authors Terry Pratchett unfortunately died, there are a number of his books that have been adapted, Neil Gaiman was heavily involved in the production of Season 1 of Good Omens and I look forward to seeing Season 2 😍
