    I am a girl on a pretty tight budget so this is a nice bit of inspiration. You really prove that you don't need to spend alot to look pretty and pulled together. Also, I just purchased the NYC concealer stick, and so far so good! Thanks!

    This is my favorite $20 dollar makeup challenge simply because you varied your products and didn't only use e.l.f like every other beauty guru. Also, you were very positive about the products and tried to make the best out of them regardless of any problems they may have had. Good job Ingrid!

    i have the wet and wild pencil... you really can't use it as you would a normal brow pencil its much too concentrated, you kind of have to use it with super gentle strokes just to fill in because if you really try to draw with it you'll have a black messy block eyebrow situation on your hands...

    Urban Decay Primer Potion doesn't work for me because I have VERY oily eyelids. For most people, it's works just fine... but if you're like me and your eyeshadow smudges/creases within the first hour without primer, try out the NARS Pro Prime Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base. It's the only thing that works for me and makes my eyeshadow last all day!

    u can buy elf online in the uk, also u can buy foundation in superdrug anywhere between £2-£12 so it is do-able if u try hard, try the MUA range, the products are actually really nice, some of the matte shadows are as good as my high end 1s

  • @madasahatterxox
    @madasahatterxox 12 лет назад

    I've seen a lot of these and yours is BY FAR the best. You went into the challenge wanting to create an actual, wearable look whereas many other gurus only treat it as a "I'm-doing-this-for-the-challenge-and-then-wiping-this-off-my-face-because-it's-cheap" sort of thing. So thank you for understanding some of us can't afford a lot of high end makeup brands and stirring up some inspiration for a look that doesn't break the bank :)

  • @Georginagiggle56
    @Georginagiggle56 12 лет назад

    sorry its late i would recommend from elf the basic line lipsticks, the mineral line lipsticks, the liquid lipsticks are nice but some dont have much colour and i also like the liquid eyeliner in the pen and the like dipping ones. I also will say that if you buy the cream eyeshadows they are nice and come in HUGE pots. But with elf things vary like some of my eyeliner pens are great and come out really pigmented but others dont so i would just watch out for that as some work and some do not :)

  • @jking1014
    @jking1014 12 лет назад

    No offense I love your channel but , I don't see why you keep telling us to buy these really expensive makeup products and your video just showed how you can get a gorgeous look with all drugstore makeup. You make drug store make up look cheap by the way you talk about your expensive stuff. Drugstore make up is perfect for me and better than any $30.00 foundation. Sorry if this is rude but it's true.

  • @YeahsCee
    @YeahsCee 12 лет назад

    I think some people should keep in mind she is in her early twenties, so her income will be probably higher. I'm going to assume that quite a large percent of her followers are still in high school. It's obvious she buys high end products, but it doesn't mean you can't achieve the same look for cheaper. Why are people putting the hate on her? She'll buy whatever, she'll have an opinion, good or bad.

  • @angelx0x
    @angelx0x 12 лет назад

    + the whole point of the challenge was to use products you already have that add up to 20$ max...which she did. and she already had it from before and it was obviously used. She didn't say "oh i bought this today for this video" like all the other gurus. So obviously she's been using all those products, just not in the videos. lol .. and you can tell from just looking @ then in the video they've been used already. so i don't think its just ONCE, especially when she said ALL of high school.

  • @angelx0x
    @angelx0x 12 лет назад

    That's why I've said she's probably just found products that work better since now she can afford them. If you watch some of her older videos, she does talk about drugstore products and her favourites. If you start watching from half way, yeah you gotta expect to feel like that. But she does do those videos. I do agree that some of her tutorials should be like just drugstore or even briefly mention "hey here's a great substitute for this product from the drugstore" or something.

  • @Amiee716
    @Amiee716 12 лет назад

    Ah, i was confused lol. But again, it's just my opinion. I use plenty of drugstore products, in fact I rarely use high end stuff, but eye primer is just the one area where I can't find a good drugstore product. As I said, my eyelids are extremely oily, to the point where they can actually look quite shiny and almost wet looking. I just find higher end primers to get me more wear time out of my eyeshadows, because otherwise they crease like crazy or slide off.

  • @mymelody9137
    @mymelody9137 12 лет назад

    I don't think she failed the challenge. She may not adore the products she used, but she still managed to create a perfectly cute look that is extremely affordable to those who may be working with a budget. It's no secret that higher end products will typically yield greater results, and Ingrid is aware of that, which is why she uses them herself. I think that this video is encouraging to those who may not be able (or want) to splurge on high-end makeup. Nice looks can still be achieved cheaply.

  • @angelx0x
    @angelx0x 12 лет назад

    I don't think thats entirely true, if she wanted to just use completely cheap products that she didn't recommend then she would've used ALL elf products like everyone else that did the tag. She mentioned in the video for some of the products how she's been using it since high school or used to use it in high school all the time, so obviously its a good product. Its just she found better, something she can afford.

  • @sarahdianajenninfer
    @sarahdianajenninfer 12 лет назад

    True. To a point. There are so many Guru's on here that purchase so much HE that most ends up languishing (sp) in their collections. I like guru's like Ingrid and Emily because they have quite a bitm but they make a point of using everything, which I think is uber important too :) That swings both ways with clothing also. A 3 dollar shirt that gets worn twice a week is sometimes a better deal then a 60 dollar one that sits unloved in the back of a closet ya know :)

  • @Chanelly2011
    @Chanelly2011 12 лет назад

    True,but she did a great job! Considering to get a decent foundation you could honestly say you like, would cost at least $7.00.Then,it'd be a struggle for her to meet the $20 budget,since she'd still have to buy the other products.I think this was a fun little challenge and the overall goal was to find a makeup look for $20.If this was going to be a video on her sharing her favorite cheaper products then I'm sure she would've done just that.Not trying to be rude or anything, just an opinion(:

  • @Miranzira
    @Miranzira 12 лет назад

    She loves the concealer (except for the wrong shade, haha), and she loves the wet n wild palette. I mean, most things she didn't have anything bad to say about at all; I may have misunderstood, but most of the $20 challenges I've watched have been the person's first try with a lot of the products, so I was surprised she'd used so many of the products in this video already. I didn't realize that wasn't part of the point, to be honest XD Maybe I just haven't watched enough of them.

    somebody actually get hurt when the person sees her unnatural eyebrows? SHOOT there's plenty of people have less and lighter eyebrows than her, I am freaking one of them, and no matter what I do they just don't grow, at lead not as easily as you think!! BTW, Since I have dark hair and the way I do my brows is just using a brow pencil or powder that is 2 shades lighter compares to my hair color. Comment, but never tell people what to do, this is the thing you want to remember 4 life as a girl

I do not search for comments like yours, I came on this page, and your comment was the last one added. And ok, fine, you said one word, but in my opinion you commented in that one word negative about the way she looks, and that's just something that I think is rude.

    @ZoeLeeJames 12 лет назад

    i was just thinking the same! i pay more than that just for my foundation! and rimmel here averages around 15 dollars for mascara, how is it only 3 over there? i don't understand!! a 20 dollar makeup challenge here you wouldn't get past foundation, and if you did it wouldn't be more than adding a very cheap brand eye liner or a single eyeshadow

  • @SnowFamilyVacations
    @SnowFamilyVacations 12 лет назад

    lol brand name products have their perks, just have to know which ones are actually worth the splurge! For example, I bought Mac mascara just to test a more "high end" one and I prefer the maybaline mascaras! Never going to spend a lot of money of an expensive mascara again because it's not worth it! But things like foundation or eye primers can definitely be worth the money! :)

  • @RaChAl84

    There's actually an amazing makeup community on livejournal called "mac_cosmetics", and the gals there do trades a lot, even internationally. • @AgehapopMakeup
    @AgehapopMakeup 12 лет назад

    OMG yeah! its pretty much the same in singapore! its like three times more expensive high-end products wise and like 5-7 times more expensive for drugstore products! like a mascara would be considered cheap if it were $18 and that's probably the cheapest mascara you could find! :S i wish i were in america!!

  • @TheIrishGrl1
    @TheIrishGrl1 12 лет назад

    I am IN LOVE with the Elf eyelid primer. If you don't have oily eyelids, and if you aren't really looking for a primer that will brighten the eyeshadows you put on, then there is no need to spend $20 on a primer when the Elf one for $1 will work just as well from preventing creasing of your eyeshadow. Just my opinion from my experience with it. :)

  • @xtwirlergirl156
    @xtwirlergirl156 12 лет назад

    Also in reference to your first comment you said if she had actually tried it out for a day. And if you pay attention in the video, she states that she has actually used it before. So she isnt just knocking it because it is cheaper she has used it before and didnt like it. Just because it works for one person doesnt mean it will work for everyone.

  • @YeahsCee
    @YeahsCee 12 лет назад

    Honestly not trying to be rude, why can't you find beauty gurus who use the same products as you or like similar products? That would be like me asking you, to splash out a bit more and use high end products. She shouldn't have to do what she doesn't want too because her subscribers want that... ridiculous.

  • @angelx0x
    @angelx0x 12 лет назад

    I agree with you whole-heartedly. I think some people are just overreacting. It's called a challenge cause these gurus 20$ eyeliners. Thats for them, after using amazing quality products they find these ones "all-right" and not as good as the higher brand. lol..and I don't think people get that -_- oh well.

  • @herdingborahae

    I have the Asian eyes where I have no crease in my eye brow area. How would you suggest I do my makeup for my eye area? And I also have really thin eyebrows. I got them waxed probably about 15 years ago, and ever since then all I've ever had to do with them is pluck every month or two. I'm afraid that using a pencil to fill them in might make them look too fake. Help?!

    I don't consider Sonia Kashuk a drugstore product.
    Other than that, you really listed all of the products in your reply, and then said "and others". There were no others. lol. But that's all she has. Like I said, I *saw* one product. I wasn't really paying attention. But anyway, not a lot for a "huge drugstore person".

    Even if you want to use higher-end products, maybe briefly mention good cheaper substitutes? :) I don't think any other beauty guru does that..mostly cause they've all started with higher-end whereas I don't think you have. I've been following you since Day 1 haha, not being creepy :$ But I don't want you to feel bad, or stop making videos!

  • @Chitchatsbykim
    @Chitchatsbykim 12 лет назад

    but it's the 20$ makeup challenge...she can't exactly go out and buy the normal drugstore makeup for a whole entire face...if you watch all the other gurus vids of the challenge, they all use more or less the same product;elf, wetnwild... anyhow I completely agree with you wanting Ingrid to show more drugstore items that she loves.

  • @SylviaMarie30

    I know that this conversation really isn't any of my buissness but something you said needed someone to comment on you said that this is your opinion right? • @prjkaur
    @prjkaur 12 лет назад

    While I agree with you, I think because this is a $20 challenge, it was going to have to be elf, or NYC or Pixi. If you want a legitimate good but "cheap" vid from ingrid, check out her first videos. They do have pricier items than those mentioned here, but they are mostly drugstore. And almost all of those products are available today.

    Please, do you hear yourself? Stop complaining about those stupid things! She likes her eyebrows that way! Let her be herself. And I can already hear you say: 'can't I just have my own opinion?' Yes you can have your opinion, but in this case it's better to leave it your 'own'. Instead you can tell her something positive, that's what you would like in her position!

    Hi Ingrid! :D You did an awesome job with this challenge & I love Emily. She's wonderful, just like you! I really want to try the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation you rave about, but I've never splurged on a high end foundation before....is it truly worth it? Or is there a drugstore alternative? Thanks! Love your videos & Nugget!! You are bright and beautiful, as always!
