- Hello Funkers, Tony Funk here and today we'll try to make sense of Tengoku daimakyou AKA Heavenly Deslusion as we try to understand Asura's role in the series. According to Kona, the one who killed Asura will take Tokio away, but who is he talking about? We can assume he meant anybody working at Takahara Academy, but how much water does this theory hold? Is it possible that by figuring out Tokio's whereabouts in Maru and Kiruko's timeline that we can find clues regarding Asura's alleged killer? In this episode we'll be examining Mina and her human sized pods as possible connections to the conclusion of the series, we'll also conjecture in regards to Yamato's whereabouts and the possibilities of Mikura AKA Director Shino, and Imanaga Misaki's roles in the creation of i373 and the killing of Asura.

I haven't read the manga, but i interpreted Asura's "death" scene as her just separating her mind from her physical body. That's why some of the kids still see a "shadow" of Asura lurking around. Maybe she is still trying to find a way to interact with the physical world or she is just waiting for something.
They also seem surprised when the hiruko core was left after the other student died, which implies it didn't happen when Asura was cremated.
I like to note that the other kids in the school have some "Gifts" such as Kuku's frog-like abilities and Taka's whips.
So when Asura asked Tokio "What are you good at" she could ask what her "Gift" is, since we don't know yet what it could be.
The only thing that Tokio could do that can be considered a "Gift" is the mummification she went through when the school was bombed.
I thought about including that in the script for this video but I didn't feel like I had enough evidence for the claim I wanted to make about that. I assumed 4 different Hiruko children with specific gifts had to be in the pods in order for the next "step" to happen which is why Asura asked Tokio what she was good at. But again, that's just my head cannon and I'm waiting on more evidence to talk about it.
@@tonyfunk That is one possibility. It could also be that to become a man-eater, one must have a gift that the man-eater can use. which is why Asura is asking Tokio if she has any.
Frogs have moist skin which is why Kuku's man-eater has that water barrier.
I know there are holes in this theory. like what's Tarao's gift? We know he was super strong even compared with the other strong kids in the school. but all of the man-eaters we have seen (so far) don't use their physical strength to hunt. They use their gifts to defend or attack.
also, most of the man-eaters have some connections to regular animals but I'm not too sure about this.
Kuku is a fish
Anzu is possibly a sea urchin
Taka is a bird
Kona is a slug
Nakaki is a spider
Other man-eaters don't fit animal criteria
Ohma, The man-eater Robin was keeping, the mummy demon in the cave, and that man-eater that can reflect the Kiru-beam
At this point, I'm just speculating all possibilities that could be useful for the future.

My bet for the one who reflects the Kiru Beam goes to Mako because of her ability to manipulate some sort of force fields.
@@bophi_true I guess we can't just associate each kid with one animal: it looks like Taka had Mantis Shrimp DNA too and we have no idea how many other kinds of DNA from plants/fungi/bacteria were used to make the kids.
Anyway for Tarao I would say that if you want super-strength you need some insect DNA, maybe from ants.
Awsome video! It made me think about a couple of things. After finding out about Asura death, i didn't realise how the teachers didn't find a huruko core inside her, but did with Tarao. This might reinforce the teory that Asura is still alive OR inside the closed pod (she might have tried to k herself but the director trapped her there in a sort of coma or as a hiruko).
The other thing is related to conversation between Mihime and Kona in the hospital: we know that Mihime's phobia of sharp objects is related to her very sad future, the interesting thing is that Kona tell her he's afraid of being trapped in a small place... like a pod...
These are great theories! I definitely think you're on to something with Kona's claustrophobia, and Asura not having a core (or at least there being no mention of one). Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
When Dr. Usami unalived himself, he didn't seem worried about becoming a monster. Maybe you have to develop the disease first in order to turn into a monster, and Usami hadn't gotten those yet. Meaning, Asura's core would die along with the rest of her prior to developing the disease, and it wouldn't survive the cremation that way Tarao's did.

@@silksongreactions Well, speaking as an anime only, we never actually saw her during the series of events Juuichi described, so we couldn't know if she was developing the first symptoms. Maybe she got caught trying to escape because she was physically weakened by the first stage of the disease?

I think Asura is “alive” as a pure energy being. We see that people got blurry photos of her on film before Nibiru hit. And, I think she knew to liven’t herself before her core overloaded and she became a man eater.
the blurry photos wasnt of asura it was of one of the 8 combatants probably the one that diverged from the group

I think Kona turned into the sea slug-like thing based on Mimihime's vision that Haruki killed with his handmade gun.

Great analysis, my guess is that Asura is alive and has plans to do something to fix things. And also wasn't there a panel that showed Asura floating above a city after the disaster. When they were talking about what caused it and someone said something about winged creatures? It's been a while so I don't remember exactly what it was.
Yes, there is a panel that shows that! The reason I didn't include it is because I felt that it could have easily been a reference to one of the soldiers too.
Hmmm, so that was Asura? I thought it was the grown up alien like-thing that Tokio saw with Kuku, since in the manga shows a scene where it flies away from the battlefield and comeback to Tokio to free Tokio and her babie from mummification.
Having only watched the anime and connecting the bits and pieces i've seen in a few analysis videos about the manga (which i'll wait to be finished to read), i think the 4 pods theory could be to have tokio, kona and the twins connected. Being related would bring them closer to a possible link to use mina in a way, no idea what way tho.

If you are theorizing Asura is the one pulling the string that make Kona and Tokio together then Asura should also be the one that sent naked picture of Mimihime to Shiro for the same purpose as Kona and Tokio but that pair is a failed attempt?
Yes, so I think it was Yamato who came to kiruko’s dream in ch. 54, I think he pulled kiruko into the pods which could be heaven, like the cave heavens you see the academy kids go to, and maybe asura being in the one that was locked in

Oh wow, there is a ton of details I skipped!
Not strictly related to the content of the video but here's some of my questions/speculations:
Any idea of what are the six sort-of-cylindrical-boxes-that-totally-look-like-rice-cookers behind Miina's head? There is one behind the doctor's robot too and I guess it contains Nata's brain because it was added only after her body transplant but could also be some sort of backup battery.
About Maru/Yamato:
I'm not that confident that the medicine Maru has with him is actually an antidote for the disease, mainly because I feel like this expectation will be subverted but also because, if Mikura/Shino had access to it, I don't see a good reason for her not to use it on herself (yes it could be because it was too late for her or because there wasn't enough but I find that both reason would feel a little too forced).
I'm trying to figure out why the girl/priestess/ex-student we meet in Nara sees both Maru and Yamato as "scary" and "enemy": my best guess would be that she can somehow sense their ability to destroy Hiruko cores and, if that's the case, it would mean that the only difference between the twins would be that the true son of Tokio and Kona should be immune to the disease while the clone created my Mina could be affected by it just like the other Hirukos.
About Robin
This is totally wild speculation:
- we saw his sister in the first pages of volume 8 and we know she probably died soon after the day of the collapse,
- we know that Robin kept a man-eater locked in a room and kidnapped people to attach/feed them to it,
- even when Robin was in Asakusa people vanished with no apparent reason,
- it wouldn't make sense for Robin's sister to be from the facility but there is one of the phase 5 kids that has at least a vague similarity to her.
What if, after losing his sister, Robin took a girl that was originally from the facility as a replacement? After some time spent together surviving she could have developed the disease and turned into the man-eater we saw locked in episode 13. Still I have no idea of what Robin's true goal would be and it's probably far simpler than anything I can think of.
I had same theories like you, but i didnt notce similarites between mina and Nata robot eariler, so thanks. Also this wild one with robin's sister so this is nice that not only me :)I wonder why michika can sniff hiruko like Maru. I hope you like my theory: Asura propably was meant to be ai with normal body. Mina is ai created from analyze 4 persons. If you look closer to i373 this isnt human conected to something, but device which analyze these 4 persons and spread ai conciesnous among other terminals. Mina has arms separeted from body and empty shell of woman body and dont moves mouth when speak so no way that this is human. This is why director said that asura had too weak body for his powerful mind. Mina can whithstand because she is machine. Some people speculating that asura is from mixing too much dna but this have not difference with origins of other Kids but director said that asura birth was a sin. And said something about several thoughts.
Answearing to your question, this boxes beside mina head could be boxes with analyzed minds but this is strange because were 4 persons, not 6. On the bottom are 4 beds but all empty, except one wchich cannot be opened without password. As you said this is strange why mikura didnt use thic cure on herself, so maybe this(or these, he has two of them) labtube can aweaking skill of killing maneater.
@@ukaszkutkowski9500 about Nata and the robot, I can safely day that it is confirmed that robot is her even if we don't know if what that rice-cooker actual is (it may be just a backup battery, as far as I know): in the first image of volume 10 you can see Nata carried by the robot and we know Ishiguro never draws stuff like that casually.
About Michika I guess all the Hirukos have some degree of perception of each other, Michika is just better at it. You can see how Jugo sensed the arrival of the spider and cried waking up all the men back in the walled town and maybe he activated his ice powers for the first time because of Maru's presence.
I guess the fish man-eater too was attracted by Maru's signal, we can even speculate that somehow it was carrying Kuku's desire to get on a ship like "that time with Tokio".
About Asura, I like your idea.
The possibility that she could be some sort of candidate to become a "portable" Mina makes sense but it's strange that they didn't make any other attempts if it was something important.
For now I'm more for the idea that Asura and Kona were the results of 2 different experimental methods to achieve the same result and Kona's method was just considered the best and all other children were made improving on it.
@@Lanodd Yeach, she said "sensei" after sawatari's death. This thing with yuugo and kuku is very intresting. With Asura i dont know but this speech of director after Tarao's death is the biggest mistery for me... these words was so strange. Maybe they dont do it again because that was only experiment and they were scared after her suicide, and you know, 4 minds in one person, maybe they had hard time with sleeping after that.If they can connect Nata's mind to robot, so maybe they can also transform ai's mind into body.
I guess that Asura could give Tokio her power because school staff was shocked after seeing her turning into stone. Director said yeach Mihihime has good intuition, Sawatari dosent give shit about Tarao who could throw far away heavy stone, but here they were suprised. With that power, Asura could give descendant of Tokio(Maru)his power. As video said Asura has some mission so maybe this and next creating med or maru touch potion from Tokio i dont know exactly, or maybe this is meant for Tokio to aweaking her from coma inside Mina' pod. Sorry for messy thinking, i maybe overthinked this.
Is possible that tomato heaven is alredy heaven, because there were boxes with sign, they grow tomtoes wchich seeds were findend in something like garden and probably close to place where Kuku's corpse was thrown to water after abandoning island by her?
@@ukaszkutkowski9500 I don't understand the last part but we can see her corpse turning into the fish, so I guess they didn't find it. Also the last chapter supposedly confirmed that Mikura called "heaven" the Takahara Academy where the kids came from.
About Tokio I don't think the academy staff knows about any of the children's powers until they show them, so Sawatari knew about Tarao's super-strength because he discovered it pretty soon but had no idea about Tokio's shell power just like everyone knew about Taka's agility and sturdiness but nobody knew about his invisible blades, maybe Miina did but the real question for me is how many factions there really are:l? Is Miina against the director? Is Asura working with Mina or against it? Is Kona helping Asura or just getting his revenge?
Tokio is on Kyushu island somewhere in Fukuoka prefecture, maybe she activated her power again and Yamato is searching for a way to free her from the cocoon (maybe she needs her "real" son for that?) I don't know and this is total speculation.
About the pods: the password locked one should contain Aoshima's mother but this is a part I have no real clue about but I really hope for the solution to be something clever and satisfying because I guess it will be something we will witness in the last chapters.
I mean, that takahara academy maybe was on Island where tomato heaven is now. Nara and Ibaraki isnt place where Kids were raised. Kuku leave takahara island, died after reaching main land and next michika meet Taka. Place where taka lives should be close to immortalities city where he and anzu split up with mihi and shiro. Probably safe water city due to his daughter totori. immortalities city was close to kuku attack place because Kiruko and Maru after landing can reach this place on foot.

About mina: director wanted keep children in facility. Sawatari and aoshima had some hidden agenda against director and wanted save kids, but the one who told Kids that they get test to reach outside was robot on the pool. So yeas mina or mina controlled by asura (rather external devices of her not main mina) was against the director. After that mina was disabled. Is she disabled by hersefl? So who accidentaly will open the door letting for Kids's escape? Hacked by military forces while they attacked?Abandoned and disabled by asura who knowed thank to her foreseen that will be crack in the Walls? But only mihi shiro anzu and taka escaped by this whole.
Tokio was on kiusiu short after leaving takahara island. Next she moved to nara facility with yamato. Check chapter 54, sakota told that they lived there by he no see them by ten years. Really good idea with Maru unstone tokio like this terrorist soldier in takahara academy once. I also thought about aoshima'mom in this pod. In the end aoshima hide her True identity from director, who knows why, and tried open this pod

Thank you so much!!! So the kids go to the cave whenever they die. This is evidenced when Mimihime enters the cave and sees Shiro in it and holds his hand. Remember, Shiro was never killed by Maru nor was he ever a Hiruko. Hope this helps!

Mikura was in the main land searching for heaven, so Yamato can't be at the island. The hiruko at the race track isn't Kona, good chance it's Tokio. Kona probably is with Yamato at some new Takahara facility.

I liked this anime but they had too many moving parts that were never explained, making the show very confusing. By the time of the last episode, I had no clue what was going on.

I think it's possible. We already saw Taka who was not visibly infected with the spots disease turn into a Hiruko, but I think it was implied he had it anyway because he abandoned Totori before fighting Michika. As for Shiro, he was most definitely not infected otherwise he would have amputated his own body parts. So I'm leaning on the idea that he won't but we don't know yet.
What I found interesting is the choice of her name "Asura"... in Hinduism the Asuras are the enemies of the Devas.
If memory serves the Devas drunk some sort of divine ambrosia kinda stuff and the Asuras didn't... I wonder if the same kinda symbolism was used there... and knowing the Japanese, it's quite possible.
Spoilers:
So basically Tokio is presumed to have the real kid, and Maru is presumed to be the clone. In heaven, Yamato probably gets the sickness but they need him alive for some reason, so they use his clone to deliver him the cure.
Only to find out after that Mary is actually the real one.
Either that or it's backwards and Maru is actually the clone.
Can you answer why mitsihime could watch hanging asura at the center of school i really missed that why she had this ability but no one else could watch it
They all mostly have clairvoyance but Mimihime has a stronger form. Director Shino says it herself.
