While I was in the USAF in the '80's, I did get to see plenty of F-14's at play: the scene where they buzz the sail of the carrier had me convinced that it was a real Tomcat (though I know that the U.S. has none left that are airworthy). The Tomcat was quite a bit faster than the F-18, and they really nailed it with that high speed pass. What a tribute to that old bird.

А как бы иначе объяснить, что старый американски металлолом, смог уничтожить два истребителя пятого поколения. Том Круз в этом фильме мог бы это сделать и верхом на метле

Hangman may not have turned on his own radar till the last second. Might even be able to fire a heat seeker without radar lock at all.

SERIOUSLY THE BEST MOVIE EVER MADE !!!
And I studied filmmaking and worked in the motion picture industry, so I know quite well what I’m talking about.
If you go on pure entertainment value, production value, and the kind of film that makes you want to see it over and over again, and it never gets old, that is superior filmmaking.

There were alot of things wrong here ..... gor eg radar lock by 57 doesn't take such a long time in straight flight....... then the pilot showed no situational awareness......the su 57 radar didn't catch the f 18 and so on.... but I mean its a good thrilling scene
