Just watched a UK BBC2 program where they did a a brand new procedure for curing prostate cancer with no side effects , it was done in a hospital in Birmingham UK, I have it on video and will send further details when I get time...
Had low grade PC. Had the onco type test done. 3TMRI, guided biopsy, blah blah blah. All docs said I was a good candidate for active surveillance. But I still had the surgery done. Why? Because no one 100% knows for sure what your tumor is capable of, and I’m 44 years old, I really don’t want to have to worry about it anymore. Trust me, it wasn’t an easy choice. But when doctors talk about 10 years of survival doing this or that treatment, surgery was the only treatment that could give me 30-40 year survival, worry free. I chose the right surgeon (Dr. Reiter, UCLA) and my outcome is better than before the surgery!!
This guy makes sense. I am sure there are some good urologists, but as a class I do not trust them. They will exaggerate your condition in order to justify harmful, unnecessary procedures. They don't seem to care what they do to a patient's quality of life.
Understand this, with prostate cancer you can either die with it or die from it. Always a tough call, but a man should try n live healthy and hope to die with it. Doing a operation on prostate and suffer for next 10-15 years doesn't add up in my book.
I totally agree at 50 years old was told because of the PSA biopsy must be done to test c prostate cancer. I was sick for 2 months and I was dying and Doctor told me the only option is to remove the Prostate gland.I am not a Doctor but I will never recommend biopsy as it is a terrible idea
Frankly I am not sure it is worth it. I think I would pass on transrectal biopsy. I would rather have a targeted biopsy through the perianal area instead. It seems safer and being put out would be best for pain. Transrectal biopsy should be never be done it is cruel and in the case of those not using a pain block inhumane treatment.
I tested with a high psa of 27...I'm scheduled for a prostate biopsy in 2 weeks...according to the research I've been doing on the web...it seems that there is a greater risk of me regretting having gone thru with the biopsy than not having one at all....The doctor told me that other things can cause a high psa....I've noticed that nothing was mentioned as far as testing for these other causes so they can be eliminated...I'm going to give them a call this Monday to find out...I'm thinking about cancelling this appointment and taking my chances....to think of a rod up my butt with a needle that's spring loaded.., riddling my prostate with holes makes my skin crawl....the doctor also said that alot of men dont go thru with the biopsy...who can blame them.
@@reddawg6748 I went through with the biopsy...not as bad as I thought...The biopsy was painless..although the test results came up positive..They took 17 samples...15 of the samples showed cancer...There are 5 grades of cancer..1 and 2s are non life threatening because it doesn't spread...It's just there...3 spreads slowly...4 and 5s are life threatening..I have grade 4..They told me theres a 65% chance that the cancer spread to the bones and other parts of my body..I'm due for another test to find out..If I had taken a PSA test a couple years ago..who knows..I might have avoided what's coming...
3T way to go. Just had one 98% accurate. They found nothing even though the psa level was 7.7. Later discovered had internal double hernia as well as infection from diverticulisis. I have learned that you had better do your own research before you let a money grubbing doctor butcher you.
Had my biopsy a few days ago and I have to say it was fine. It wasn't painful and it wasn't uncomfortable and now that I've had it done, I wouldn't hesitate to have another one if required. It was the TRUS biopsy and wasn't embarrassing either. Three nurses and the urologist were present and it was over quickly. Maybe it depends on who does the procedure but I have nothing but praise for my biopsy team.
Hi,you had it well, mine was hell.It was painfull and I had blood in my semen for 1 week.balls were swollen and so on! Thanks for sharing your experience
I had a biopsy at 48 years of age . Very painful no anaesthesia! I had prostate removed due to ca . But recurred in the biopsy site in my bowel wall 6 years later!
The hell it is. Stop spreading old ignorant medical procedures as the only options.

The PSA is a lousy tool. I had a biopsy and it went ok just bleeding in semen for 6 wks. Won't do it again, though. Urology Dept. do all this treatment to make $$$$$$$ and do not always care for the patient. Patient beware. It's all about money.

Thank you for this excellent video.
I had over three weeks of a rectum infection from this but they did find that I had aggressive prostate cancer and treatment is to start soon.

The 3T MRI looks promising for those that can have an MRI in place of the the current way of doing the biopsy.
Show me.

@@donniedale3522 Wow ! Thanks for the information . Docs are encouraged to recommend biopsy at PSA 4 or higher.

What kind did you have Rectal or Perianal?.
My advice to you don't do it again because it is already infected
Well my concern is more in the future after the biopsy, did it help metastasize the cancer..
