Toon fan here. Was great to see both sets of fans celebrating Sir Bobby Robson. You did yourselves proud. Don't be too disheartened by the result, when the toon is on such form they are pretty unstoppable. Wishing you well for the rest of the season.
Good summary. I agree we need to look at formation change against those top teams and make it more difficult to get through us. Newcastle completely bossed the midfield and controlled the game from start to finish. Maybe 3 centre backs and three midfield would make it tougher for those teams. We were open at the turnover on Saturday and those teams move forward at incredible pace!
Much appreciated Dave. I just try to be realistic mate, no good throwing toys out the pram. We all knew it was going to be bloody hard at the start of the season, just need to all stick together. Merry Christmas 🎅

A tough afternoon for sure. In essence we are in a league of 7 and it’s the results around these sides that will be pivotal. Picking up points against top 6 was always going to be difficult. As for the summer window, large amount spent but very little PL experience, just shows the task in hand. The PL fees are nuts - is Jacob G x 20 the player of Cam B, his transfer fee says yes but reality is no. As for the keeper, such an important position to get right and we didn’t.
Newcastle fan here. Keep your chins up lads one game won’t define your season. We’ve been coming into form recently and scoring goals for fun again. There’s always been a link between our 2 clubs through Sir Bobby and from what I’ve seen all the vlogs from Ipswich fans have been very gracious and complimentary. Have a great Christmas folks and wish you all the best for the rest of the season.
No point going long and their press was very good if we went short. A change of tactics might have meant we lost 2-0 but they had superior players. Play that game 100 times and we lose 99 of them
Very good video. 1000% agree about Mckenna. People who want him out need their heads read. On a similar note about fans leaving early. The game kicked off here in Sydney at 2am, and even though we were 3-0 down at half time, I still stayed awake to watch the rest. As hard as that was given it was not enjoyable at all.
Think its time for a formation change, playing 3 centre backs, Leif likes to push on, when the play breaks down he's out of position and then he's behind his man, exposing Burgess who then covers leaving the middle open, 2 full backs pushing on with gives the 2 mid field more outlets, Think we are good playing out from the back but seem to move the ball to the middle of the park and then run out of options and as we move the ball slower we give the opposition chance to re-group.
Im optimistic and realise not everyone is. Our players are of a better standard than they and some think. Just because some were in League 1 not long ago, shouldn’t hold them back if they are self critical and improve their game. With strong mindset it will be achieved. We are not the finished article yet
Fair play to Newcastle 💯 deserved their 4 - 0 win yesterday, best fans in the country imo. Regarding performances I'll admit when we first signed Muric I was a bit sceptical because of the mistakes he made for Burnley last season but I thought that Mckennas brilliance would squeeze the errors out of him but imo it is one of the worst signings of the Mckenna era. For me the biggest difference between the two sides yesterday was the pace because Newcastle were like lightning on the counter and in general play so imo Greaves should have started over Burgess because he is faster. Maybe controversial but I would look to bring in a more defensive LB in January and move Davis to LW where he should be playing imo, not blaming Davis for the goals yesterday at all just that I think we would see his creativity massively increase when he doesn't have to constantly drop back and defend 💙🚜
Newcastle are back in the groove - time will tell but I bet Ipswich look back on this result and realise the levels Eddie's team can hit will give any premier league team major issues.
Hi Rich. I'm not a Town fan but I have to say credit where credit's due. I think that's about the most honest appraisal ofa football match I've ever heard. Hats off to you. BLUEMOON PHIL (No, I still haven't bought a phone of my own!)😂😂😂
McKenna has a job at Ipswich for as long as he wants it, as far as I'm concerned. I'm more worried about him running out of patience with Ipswich before Ipswich loses patience with him.
The gulf between championship and premier league is massive,as a Norwich fan know how you feel ,the big clubs can bring on 5 pros who can change a game thats why they wanted 5 subs and big squads. realistically you have a chance ,its going to be hard watch though, the getting there is definitely better than when you're there .
Spot on assessment yet again rich. We knew this season was going to be hard but you just gotta roll with the punches, get behind the boys and move on.will we stay up? Not sure we quite have the quality this year but if we do go down then we are in great shape to have another crack at promotion next year. COYB. merry Christmas mate to you and yours.
A very level-headed analysis. Did I at one point check for an earlier train than my 5.20pm? Yeah, sure I did cos I have an hour onboard then on top of that a 45 minute drive back to St. Neots but I stayed to the end. Simply put we’ve hit the PL probably two years before the plan allowed and it’s going to be tough. I feel much of Saturday’s problem was that without that striker role as an apex we seemed to have little idea as to what to do. Now that’s not good but let’s not lose our minds peoples! Look at MUFC’s result and ground yourself a bit.
I couldn't believe delap was out and cunha played but it did us a favour wolves beating Leicester. I thought we'd lose but not like that I said 2 1 but don't think they'll be too many of them defeats other than the next 2 games maybe two good performances despite defeats if they're back to being competitive then moving into 25 could bring us confidence and hopefully at most 2 points off 17th. People in my opinion who say keiran should go when we lose aren't proper fans they're glory hunters proper fans take the rough with the smooth. Great content Rich keep it coming 😊
I think you are right we need to go in to some of these games with three in the middle. As for playing out from the back you have be more positive and more exact with your passing. So as we made bad decisions and put pressure on ourselves
@@TheSuffolkCrunch totally agree some people/fans?? Town has come so far in the 3 yrs the dross we had to put up with.. I still think we will survive as I’ve said before my partner supports Leicester they changed to RVN and got blown away by Wolves.. haha

I enjoy your honest opinions rich lovely tree aswel we all know we will have variable success picking up new players and mckenna will put them in where and when it best suits on the day unfortunately imo we have the worst signing of his era in muric and along with r/l back issues its taking the team backwards it needs sorting in jan, well done newcastle a class team with great support
Can’t fault your comments as agree with all that you have said as you speak common sense and fully understand the challenges town are facing. Just got to get behind the team and keep going as club are in a miles better place.
We have heard several times from KM that we need to learn, however, our game management is still so poor, we know that we have to stay in games and be competitive but yesterday we were the downfall of all 4 goals…..having said that I thought Newcastle were absolutely superb! We still have a great chance of surviving, we are only 4 points away from 15th place and we should have achieved those 4 points from our first 17 games! Let’s buy a couple more quality players in January with PL experience, get Axel and Hirst back and put these learnings into place for the second half of the season and get behind the team - COYB….
Newcastle fan me . Well said mate I was was nervous coming down play yous before that game you got top manager needs backing in window and you could stay up
A lack of an additional 9 in the summer will be the sole reason for our relegation. It’s a major reason for late drop offs as we have no physical outlet to release pressure late in games or to maximise Delap’s effectiveness/fitness. No idea why we signed Ali as he was never going to be able to fulfill the 9 role in Mckenna’s formation and never will. He’s not that type of player and we have plenty of options with pace that run in behind.
Great content again! I swear you secretly turn into me, I think it is showing McKenna is learning and needs to adapt. We can’t be the L1 team playing out from the back all the time, we are in the top tier. Doesn’t mean you sack him, he is learning! I get the Cajuste argument but Muric needs to be more aware, 45+2 just pass out wide, like the Newcastle keeper did. Decision making is poor, as it has been most of the season. He will start Friday I just hope he has a North London Muric performance.
I'm not pinning anything yesterday on the players - I'm a massive McKenna fan as we all are but he needs to look at the system, either go with a back 5 or a midfield 3..players were chasing shadows
It would be so nice if the key to getting a result yesterday was avoiding the customary Muric mistake, which as you say Rich wasn't totally his error anyway. Newcastle were simply on another planet compared to us and, when you look at their quality and squad depth, they have been punching well below their weight this season, until recently, with the two thumpings of Leicester and ourselves. Even with no injuries or suspensions, I don't think there's any scenario where, with Toon on that sort of devastating form, we could have got points yesterday. But with that said, we have to do more to make ourselves less easy to roll over. It starts, I think, by recognising that, to some extent, we have to become those awkward teams we played in the Championship and League One who didn't allow us to play. This doesn't mean completely abandoning our principles, but essentially doing a Sean Dyche and being realistic about our ability to match the top sides at this level when going toe to toe. We probably still need another eight wins to avoid the drop and they are not going to happen with playing out from the back and constantly trying to press on the front foot. Is KM prepared to do this is another question, but the euphoria of a late result at Molineux has quickly evaporated and we are in a very challenging run of games and facing the reality that we somehow have to start picking up points from at least some of them. It can be done, we will spend money to help get it done, but tactics have to be tweaked in my opinion. Merry Christmas to you and yours Rich.
I agree Cruncher it’s not the end of the world if you go down, only problem would be is if Southampton and Leicester come down with you. That will make it a lot harder to stay up again if you come straight back up.PL should allow promoted teams if they can prove they have the money to spend whatever they like in their 1st season in the PL.
Hi mate , after calming down on reflection you are right and that's a good vlog...you know my take on Muric and I suppose we just have to deal with it , nothing will change as we know. Think wanting us to get here and now we are here we're in bottom 3 it's just hard sometimes , probably be more spankings before end of season . Nice to see Geordies supporting us as a club and our efforts too .Anyway have a nice Xmas 🎄🎁 you and the Mrs and Boys mate .👍🏻
In recent previous seasons, the way we attack and had possession was the best form of defence we had. We're going to get batterings like this. We MUST learn from mistakes and cut down on errors. Easier said than done particularly with the relative strength of our squad. Do the simple things well, eradicate errors. Mistakes cost at this level. We aren't gifted with top quality up front when strikers get a couple of chances and score. We need four or five. That's the difference. That's the reality. I fear the scorelines for the next two games. Crikey. Wolves winning today hasn't helped. Deary me. But let's get real, this is what we expected, surely. 💙
Massivley missing our most physical players now and we were brushed off the ball far too easily. No time to drop our heads, and i hate to see fans leaving early, their perogative i guess but you dont just support our team when the going is good!!
To the best of my knowledge Bournemouth had never been in the top tier until a few seasons ago, but they're now established in the Premier League and beat Manchester United 3-0 today. Relying on players who were League One or Two stalwarts on a long-term basis won't keep us up. There are times when one has to "suck it up" and accept being beaten by a better team. Last time we were in the Premier League I watched us play Liverpool at home. At half-time it was 2-0 to Liverpool but I thought we might get a consolation goal or even a draw. Unfortunately Michael Owen and his team mates had other ideas and we lost 6-0.
Sheffield Utd shipped 8at home to Newcastle and they had a better squad than us.manager players and fans we was all well below par yesterday probably go to emirates and get a low block draw merry Christmas to all
On the subject of Muric I do think you are being a little bit generous - I fully accept he and the rest of the players are trying to execute McKennas instructions BUT the players also have a brain in their heads and there are times when you just have to do the right thing and what he did Saturday (and on too many other occasions) was not the right thing. Speaking of McKenna - anyone saying he's finished or he should go need to take a long hard look at themselves - he's worked wonders not just for the team but also for the club and together with Ashton they have raised it and us from the depths of total mediocrity. What I am hoping to see from him over the next few games is a bit of pragmatism and a bit of the José Mourinho attitude of being hard to beat. As you and others have said we don't have the players to take on the top clubs so at least don't get spanked - goal difference could be so important at the end of the season. COYB 💙💙💙
Merry Christmas Rich and your family 👪 ❤ hope you all have a good one. I have to agree with all you say on the Sunday sit down, our players would be at best, substitutes for any other prem side. I daid earlier in the season, we won't survive in this division using league one and championship quality players On to the next one ☮
As I've said to you before Rich. We need to defend and counter attack. Our only hope. None of our players are good enough to tippy tappy in this league
Hi Rich just an observation. Was at the game yesterday in Sbr lower. Not for the first time the 3 back up keepers are out warming up for a full30-40 min then Muric strides out like he dosent care and warms up for 10 min and then clears off surely that isn't enough. Also he quite clearly struggles or just dosent want to communicate with anybody be it fellow keepers, defenders or even management. Just an observation do you agree?
This thing about the Data on Muric is an odd one, I've heard rumblings that he is lazy and arrogant and really doesn't fit the profile of a current Ipswich town player or the way we usually choose people. 🤷
Hi Rich, we were beaten by a lot better team, yes we have played better. As you said two seasons ago, we were in division one. A steep learning curve and there will be more to come. We must all keep the faith. C O Y B 🚜👍
Good afternoon rich Outclass yesterday..but if we had delap on the pitch with Hurst on the breech it's still a hard game...but with no big man upfront your Struggling....we need to buy a front man ...in January...& a right winger ...keep the faith...up the town ....merry Christmas..👍
Didn't take long for the cracks to appear in the fanbase, people leaving at half time, 2 fights broke out in section 5 of the lower SBR, short memories some people. 🤦
The problem is that relegation means losing your manager and your top players. Danger of then being relegated to league 1 the year after. So, stop and think. STOP THE HIGH PRESS!!!!!
Either Richard you was angry, upset, annoyed, irritated, embarrassed, emotional maybe all of them. Just things I saw in the video. Obviously it's was a horrific score could have been and should have been worse. From what I saw of the highlights Muric didn't play well at all. But then again nobody in an Ipswich Town shirt covered themselves in glory if I'm been brutally honest. However still in the mix. Need to start games better.
I wasnt any of them tbh Peter, one of those days in the Premier League against an opponent on another level. Can't hand teams like Newcastle a goal inside a minute
A TRUER WORD WORD HAS NEVER BEEN SPOKEN‼️‼️‼️ PS > are you my long lost son as you are 'sounding like a chip off the old block' when I hear you talk❓️❓️❓️😅
Not sure I agree that the players just aren’t good enough. If we can’t finish above a very poor and dysfunctional Leicester team this season then I think questions need to be asked of Ashton and the overall management. It’s not enough to just say that Leicester have a good history in the league and that’s why they finished above us - absolute nonsense.
@ I mean’t regarding summer recruitment this year. I agree about his overall performance for the club but we’re talking about this year’s transfers are we not? So are we just judging this year’s performances on past glory’s are we?
What part of the recruitment do u think we've got wrong? I did say in the video I hold MA and the recruitment team to count with the failure of signing another striker
@ I think Sammie Szmodics, Delap, and Grieves (especially if we revert to a three) have improved the team - obviously Hutchinsons permanent is a fantastic investment and parr for last year. TBH Rich, the rest have not been a vast improvement on what was already in the building and I think this shows in the performances and drop off towards the end of games. As you said , the lack of an additional 9 borders on incompetence as every pundit and most fans were suggesting at the time. And there was plenty of alternatives we could have pursued. That’s a lot of wasted purchases and wages.
@@TheSuffolkCrunch PS, I’d also include Jens Cajuste as an excellent loan signing and I actually think we should have focused on the Italian top division far more than we did this summer.

@jonathanstringer4580 He would be an excellent loan signing
I think the Wolves result wasn't that bad for us, Leicester still only 2 points ahead of us
We are just not good enough for the PL😢
COYB
💙💙💙
Merry Christmas Rich and your family 👪 ❤ hope you all have a good one. I have to agree with all you say on the Sunday sit down, our players would be at best, substitutes for any other prem side. I daid earlier in the season, we won't survive in this division using league one and championship quality players
On to the next one ☮
Happy holidays!
Our goal difference is going to take a hammering.
Rich, in hindsight do you think Al-hamadi should have started? To at least give Burns and others a target man?
@@jackovus Possibly mate
@TheSuffolkCrunch - Rich will you be at the Emirates nxt friday ??
Yes mate
Anyone questioning mckenna is a 2024 fan GEN Z and shouldn't even go too football
Hi Rich, we were beaten by a lot better team, yes we have played better. As you said two seasons ago, we were in division one. A steep learning curve and there will be more to come. We must all keep the faith. C O Y B 🚜👍
Well said 👏
Good afternoon rich Outclass yesterday..but if we had delap on the pitch with Hurst on the breech it's still a hard game...but with no big man upfront your Struggling....we need to buy a front man ...in January...& a right winger ...keep the faith...up the town ....merry Christmas..👍
No outlet up top Karl. Just gotta stick with it. We go again at The Emirates
I am hopefully going but in the arsenal end....keep the faith
Didn't take long for the cracks to appear in the fanbase, people leaving at half time, 2 fights broke out in section 5 of the lower SBR, short memories some people. 🤦
Would you be looking at a keeper loan in Jan?
If you did that's the end of Muric Mike
@@TheSuffolkCrunch It is yeah. Backline and midfield two look like they have absolutely zero confidence in him.
It was only two weeks ago you said we wouldn't sign a keeper.have you seen the light .
@markdoyle1408 I still wouldn't
The problem is that relegation means losing your manager and your top players. Danger of then being relegated to league 1 the year after. So, stop and think. STOP THE HIGH PRESS!!!!!
@@marksilver2774 Being relegated to L1??? You been drinking Mark
@TheSuffolkCrunch No, I just placed a bet on it.
@marksilver2774 lol
@TheSuffolkCrunch Would a Christmas Tree formation be better now? 4-3-2-1?
Enjoy the ride, then keep McKenna
We're definitely aiming to keep in the Premiership.. then possibly get rid of McKenna.
We shall see
Only thing that comes to mind have park the bus if lads get to half time 0 0 you might get points here there
Do you really want to watch Mick football then Colin??
Should Davis be playing on the left of midfield instead as his defending hasnt been great this season and part of last season ?
That's how he plays in this system, high and wide.
Awful performance, half an acre space at left back. madness.
Change the goalkeeper
Walton is no better imo
Either Richard you was angry, upset, annoyed, irritated, embarrassed, emotional maybe all of them. Just things I saw in the video. Obviously it's was a horrific score could have been and should have been worse. From what I saw of the highlights Muric didn't play well at all. But then again nobody in an Ipswich Town shirt covered themselves in glory if I'm been brutally honest. However still in the mix. Need to start games better.
I wasnt any of them tbh Peter, one of those days in the Premier League against an opponent on another level. Can't hand teams like Newcastle a goal inside a minute
People want to hear constructive, balanced analysis not some spoiled teenager throwing all his toys out of the pram because we lost. 👍
A TRUER WORD WORD HAS NEVER BEEN SPOKEN‼️‼️‼️
PS > are you my long lost son as you are 'sounding like a chip off the old block' when I hear you talk❓️❓️❓️😅
Questions need to be asked about Ashton?? Laughable comment after everything that him and gamechanger have done
@TheSuffolkCrunch - Rich will you do a fan cam on AFTV nxt friday after the Arsenal v Town game ??
No
