Great tips for us all! AND.....EVERYONE take some time and support Sheetz as often as possible!👍
Why do we need to support Sheetz?
Being sued for doing criminal background checks on potential employees… racist!!!!!!
Just towed a gently used WoodMizer LT50 into my property. I will be doing business with these guys. Especially blade sharpening since no one within 1000 miles does that here in Interior Alaska. Very impressive array of machines to upkeep blades/
Good Morning Morgan Family 🌞- Have a Wonderful and Blessed Day 🤠
Woodmizer Shade Gap PA is the Best !
Just like the saw shop owner showed me on saw chains, watching from someone that really knows is the best way to learn.
i appreciate this human to human connection at Woodmizer. I understand progress and technology and automation.... all of it. But Wow! When good old boys like Marty and Nick and the other fellas present their knowledge and craftsmanship in this way, it makes me feel a connection. AI, Robots and Machines will not do this. Thanks Mike for reminding me that there still are good humans out there in a time where Craftsmanship rarely surfaces anymore.
Great video Mike. As a saw operator in an Ag plant, my blades can never be re-sharpened...lol...They usually don't have any teeth left when I replace the blade. Just like finding nails in trees, I find hard spots in steel and that usually rips the teeth of the blade. When the teeth go flying, it's like a Gatling Gun and you don't want to be anywhere near the business end of that blade when it happens. Bent teeth for me isn't much of a problem as long as the cut is square, but for lumber you end up with a line every inch or so depending on how fast your travel is and that's never a good thing either. Seeing the process that Wood-Mizer offers is really kool from start to finish. Thanks for taking us along on this journey.
I've been enjoying my new Orange coffee cup. Can't start my day without a few coffee's to get me kick started. Interesting video and learned a lot about how these blades are maintained. My dad was a framing carpenter so his Sunday morning ritual was to sharpen his Skill blades. Back in the day they didn't have the carbide tipped blades so he would sharpen by hand and then set each tooth with a special tool. Have a great day :)
Good morning y'all from British Columbia, hope your day is a great one!!!
Wow!! Very Interesting and Quite The Process!!
Thanks Mike!
Keep Smiling On!!
😅👍👊❤️
Morning from BUCKS COUNTY pa. Have a day everyone.
Hi Mike, very interesting process they use to re sharpen the blades.
Great video! I generally run the blades across my sharpener once(first time being dull) not touching the hook angle just touching the back to restore the tip and then send them in the second sharpening and correcting the set.
Extremely informative, Mike you do a great job of educating on many items, been a subscriber for years, keep it going and enjoy
I never realized all the equipment it takes to properly sharpen the blades. But on the same note thats why they do an excellent job. That was educational!.
Morning outdoors fam👋👋
Mike,Marty and his son nick are very personable people who have the customers back that makes a huge difference whether they keep their business booming excellent video 😮😊❤
This was very informative, gave me some ideas on a blade cleaner system for my shop. Would be nice to have a big wall to hang my blades on but I have to fold them up to save space.
Nice information about the behind the scenes of what goes on with a sawmill. Stay safe.
Very interesting video. I would have never imagined the process was so indepth to correctly resharpen a saw mill blade. Thanks for sharing.
Very interesting how the blades are sharpened, thanks mike
This was a fun video to watch! Talented bunch of guys.
Thanks, very good to see this kind of operation.
Very interesting video!
Im used to my metal cutting band saw, and didn't realize the wood cutting bands could be re-sharpened.
Buckin Billy Ray would love hearing him say, you gotta get the gullet !!
Thanks so much for this video.
Excellent video. Like you, I didn't realize the number of steps in the process of sharpening a blade. Thanks for the info.
Thank you for another great video. I like that you have a variety. I like more than watching you around the woodyard.
Good Tuesday morning Morgan family! Hope you’re having a productive week. Getting a lot of outdoor projects started (maybe completed?) here in SE PA.
I wondered about what the process for blades was. I seen some people sharpen the blades themselves, but i doubt many have the equipment to clean, set, and sharpen like Marty and Nick @ Wood-Mizer has. Very interesting video Mike, we like seeing sort of behind the scenes videos like this, shows us what all you and others go through to make nice lumber.
Thanks also for your free [to us] Newsletter we really like it, and it shows us a lot of information about what's going on and products and videos.. :) TY
Great Customer support, super people!
Man, these guys are sharp. Sorry, but maybe Melissa will get a kick outta' that one. 🤣
Love, love, love people who know their business inside and out.
Another great vid, Mike.
Great tour, never knew how much went into blade resharpening.
Morning Mike and Friends...

Great video - need more young men like Brandon! That’s who gives me hope for the future - grounded and eager to do good, hands on work….
Thank you for the video.
Very interesting video. The level of technology in every industry is fascinating.
👍👍👍👍👍👌lots of great information and the process of rehabbing, blades , that are professionally inspected reset and reshare Ed or rejected, it’s the process that produces the reusable product, all very interesting!!!
Great information content. Thanks Mike! Wood miser is a full service company and I see why and how they make and support the community
Interesting tour of the sharpening process
hi there interesting show ,thanks for showing us around , best to all john
I was always curious about how the blades are sharpened and how often etc. I also wondered about the cost of the blades. Well done and very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
GOOOOOOOD

Very informative Mike.
Thanks for the video

Great review, nice guys. In college I worked part time at a warehouse that handled "caller ID units" if you remember those. There was an area for customer returns, about 1 of every 50 return boxes was filled with cockroaches! I always got to work early so I wasn't assigned to returns!
Reminds me of the old butcher shop that would process venison. They had a sign that read, "The hair you bring in, is the hair you get back".
THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO
Fascinating to learn of this even though I will never use it. I just like to learn.
Good morning to Hunter 👋👋😸 and family and friends 😸😺
🐱🐱🐱
Very interesting process
Great video!
Interesting information ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Cool stuff Mike!
Hi Mike one place I worked at just brought in one long length of blade and had a machine to cut and weld the blade together they had a large number of band saws in the factory.
Very interesting Video
good job
Amazing!! I thought they were in your building at first, there walls have similar colored wood.
Nice Vid!
Good morning OWTMs! Clear and brisk here in NCNC today - it’s 36F/2C and bright sun. Expected to get to 72/22 for high.
Hi John, Our weather should be similar to yours today. Maybe a little warmer.
Great video, I was looking at the racks they hang the blades on and noticed the gentleman was at the right height to do some serious damage if he should accidentally collide with one of them. If they were to raise the height by what looks like about 6 inches it would lessen the risk. I understand the racks have a hazard hanging on them but where possible to avoid the end of the rack might be a blessing for some tall persons.
Cool video 😊
Hello! 🙂
Very interesting video, thanks! Next question is what does it cost to get a blade sharpened?
Seems like a person could rig up some kind of a rope and pulley system so the blades could be hoisted up to the ceiling to get them out of the way for storage.
Morning David looks like a sunny day, outside work 😊
@@peteatthefarm4459 That's great news. We should have a nice day too.
David , you are like dew on the grass in the morning. Always here! Hi…..
@@realairplane261 Hi RA, Thanks for the compliment!
I hope you have a great day. 👍
The only award I ever received while going to school was for perfect attendance. 😂
Very similar sharpener I use for my chainsaw chains
So there's a variety of ways a man can sharpen his blade and continue on. But, if the blade is sent to Woodmizer, it will go through a complete process that not only sharpens the blade but cleans and reforms the blade back to factory specs. To me, that seems like the best way to go. Maybe sharpen it once and after that, store it cool and dry until you've gotten a box full, then send them in to be professionally sharpened. You'd have to have more than a box full to avoid downtime, but you'd always be cutting w a factory fresh sharp blade. Reforming the teeth seems very important to me. If the angles of the teeth are off, then it matters not how sharp or dull the teeth are. The cut will suffer if the teeth are not at the correct angle. I follow several channels that sharpen their blades w a machine like we saw, but nobody has the reforming machine or the cleaning, straightening machine. Mike, you're a great videographer. This video will benefit many Sawyers. As always, thank you.👍🚜❤️🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸
WD-40 is still the best for dispelling moisture. Silicone Spray is my second favorite. Between usages.
Did I hear Brandon say he likes freedom units? That is awesome!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Cecil Skinner sharpens his own blades.
I enjoyed this video very much....I was wondering how much they charged to sharpen a new blade if a new one is 30 or 40 bucks
Take me back to the "little clearing" and road building...
Freedom units 😂 I ❤️ it
HE IS Penn State!👍
Thanks Mike.
Removing the "set' then putting it Back seems strange ??
👍
Good morning from Upstate South Carolina. Mike, that was really informative. BTW, just curious, what does it cost to sharpen a blade? Have a productive day.
When I was a kid in the 50's and early 60's my neighbor had a saw sharpening shop in a building behind his house. None of his kids or grand kids were interested in the shop. It was eventually closed. Blades became cheaper and nobody cared about the business and he was too old to make investment in carbide sharping equipment. I was always asking him why he was bending(setting) the teeth. He would just chuckle and keep working.
i never realized all the steps to sharpen blades, what's the cost to sharpen one of your blades & the cost of a new blade?
Can u only use that company s blades or other company s fit
Hello we do sharpen other manufacturers blades , they will sharpened to Wood-Mizer specifications.
Hello Mike, I don't see an email or link for the Woodmizer shop, ya got one for us? Please & thanks. CJ
First - Don't have a machine. Years earlier was a thought. question for anyone: Can 3 teeth be cut out and a new section be welded back in ? I suppose if you weld your own blades that would be simple.
What’s the cost for a re-sharpen vs. a new blade? Do they work with carbide tipped blades? And, with so many blades coming in all the time, how do they keep track of which blades belong to who?
Hello
Great questions.
There are white cards for each customer, it shows count and hook angles. Each rack has the same profile. Once the blades are complete they are tagged and set aside if customer has multiple hook angles.
Cost depends on length thickness and hook angle . Currently we charge $8.00 per band. May 1st it will be $9.00.
We do sharpen carbide tipped blades 7/8” tooth spacing.
Hope this helps.
What a great tip about putting teeth into wall !
Great video . My hands would be all cut up if I worked there , clumsy as I am.
To prevent blades rusting, use WD40, the original.. It can be purchased in one gallon containers. Also buy a 2 quart, manual pump pressure spray bottle, (this enables you to use it anywhere). Once WD40 dries, you will not even know it's present. It will prevent rust for a long time, has no offensive odour and will not leave a residue that will interfere wilh the sharpening process.
Yeah, I wondered why spraying with WD40 or similar wasn’t mentioned especially if it doesn’t leave a residue on the blade. 🤔🤷♂️
4/23/24..tour of Band Saw sharpening facility..Father & Son business! Great video 2day Mike..very necessary to keep enough blades on hand to anticipate 'metal strike'/replace + kinda long process time to send damaged blade(s) off, wait before return 'like new'! 2-3 weeks just seems a long time but..these guys know what they are doing, specialized machines, skilled humans operating this equipment...not some A i.stuff...
Surprised did not hear of a more professional way for end users to store both new/refurbished blades..that 'just hang on a nail on your wall well above the slab...just doesn't sound as pro as I expected. How about some oil spray (WD-40 or =) then hang inside the patented Mike Morgan BndSaw flat storage box hanging or resting in its designated shop area?...Milissa / kids could paint this flat box different colors corresponding to the various 'hook' or misc 'tooth shape' or # of teeth details..also forget cardboard & use...? 1/4" Luan as your storage/shipping/organizer 'box'. ..just an idea FYI...Enjoyed yur video 2day Mike. Stay safe & carry on!👍💪🪚✅️😊
They have a fail proof process. That's why they expect to be paid when the work is done. Nice video.
DO YOU GET BACK THE SAME BLADE THAT WAS SENT TO BE SHARPENEED???
Hello,
We get this question often.
Yes customer gets their blades after the blade is sharpened. Remember 3- 5 sharpening per blade.
The resistance of some Americans to the metric system makes me laugh out loud! The Imperial system and SAE are great for flexibilty, but the metric system is the easiest for mental math. Just FYI, l'm a Brit, thus European.
... Shade Gap Stink Bug Destination ..?!!
Did you see where Sheets is being sued by us gov for hiring practices! a big family company that donates to RNC!
cheap metal detector and scan the logs before you cut them
Anyone ever watch the movie Keeper of the Flame? The scene when the boy is crying and they talk about slavery???? Funny how old movies remind us!!! Better wake up America
This was educational only for someone who owns the sawmill. I mean it was a great to show something like this, but too much depth to I can’t understand what the hell is going on. I’d rather to see you cut the trees.
Then skip it! Skippy
Really? You know that they make an off button on the computer that would eliminate your issue. Must have a really boring life if you never want to learn something new. I’d rather see Melissa and Eva than Mike, too but you get what you get.
@@robertwazniak9495 hey you know what I think you want to keep your comments to yourself because I meant nothing bad about that. I love this man. I just wanted to let him know that I like when he works with his hands and what he does your comment was not necessary to me, pal at all. I don’t know who you are and I don’t even know why you had to make a comment on that cause nothing bad was meant by it. I love him and his family very much, so please keep your comments to yourself. I just got out of surgery and I enjoy watching him. I just didn’t like this show as much as I like seeing him do what he really does.
Good morning !
