No. This is for extra light and light fabric and also I believe serger is not used on leather.

Is there a way to turn off the cutting blade and just use the sewing needle alone?

Chris Marras you could remove the knives if you didn’t want it to trim the edge of the fabric but we would recommend using an edge guide so you don’t catch the loopers
