Some common misconceptions I'm seeing in the comments: 1. The people asking if there's anyone in the cage are the passengers, not the crew. The cages hold up to four people each, they have it listed on each air hose who is in the cage and exactly how they long they've been in the water. The passengers on the deck come and go and some happened on this scene from above and are asking out loud, please don't confuse that with the crew diligently trying to get the diver out in the safest way possible. 2. There was blood spotted from the sharks gills, this was only noticed on the video afterwards, at the frenzied moment, which happened so quick, they didn't notice and at the time a diver was still in/under the cage, which was their focus. Please don't take this as them not caring about any injuries to the shark. These people absolutely love sharks, a marine biologist was on board, they want to provide awareness of these amazing great white sharks and have people experience them and understand they are to be protected and not feared in the "Jaws" sense. They usually swim around the cages, curiously, and do not attack the divers or cages. The blood could be from thrashing in the metal cage, possibly the tuna, but it was evaluated by a biologist and determined to be a minor wound and the shark was spotted the next day totally fine. Sharks can be very aggressive with each other and fight, and even the large prey they attack is a very physical thing, so they are quite tough and often get scraped and gouged and bloodied and it's just another day for them. 3. It is understandable that some people feel differently, and that's fine and worthy of discussion, but these boat operators love these sharks and their overall mission is to bring awareness and protection to them. Often the best way to make positive changes in awareness and protection is experiencing the subject to be protected. These are amazing creatures, they are awesome to see in person, they will not attack and eat you, they are fearless and curious,, they are at the top of the food chain but humans are not part of that chain. They are listed as an endangered species, so awareness and protection are vital to their survival and experiencing them brings awe and appreciation. This video does not show a shark attack, it shows an extremely rare accident and the shark unintentionally hit the cage, has no capability to reverse, so instead of turning sideways it thrust through the cage. The power shown is incredible. The diver was experienced and although you can't plan for this kind of event, did the right thing, did not panic, and the crew made all the right decisions, opening the top, checking to see if they should attempt to pull the diver by the rope or give the shark a moment to free itself up out of the cage and then evaluate the best way to bring up the diver. They knew who the diver was, that he was there, from the video perspective you couldn't see bottom of the cage but they could, the water was clear, and they helped bring him out safely. Could it have been worse? Of course, horrible accidents happen, flocks of birds get struck in jet airplane engines, but landing safely takes skill, experience, and a certain amount of luck. 4. The cage diving operators, who work with the government and the marine sanctuary there are collectively reviewing and making appropriate changes to cage design and bait techniques. They want this to be as safe as possible for divers and for sharks. The goal is shark awareness and preservation through experience. These people sincerely have the best interest of the sharks in mind and work with non-profit organizations and agencies and sanctuaries to best make this a positive thing for the sharks. The sharks are not "fed". The sharks are there naturally at Guadalupe Island in big numbers in the summer and fall to feed on the seals and elephant seals that congregate there. That is their main prey. The chunks of tuna are tied to a rope to lure them even closer to the cages. The sharks come to the cages out of curiosity regardless, but this assures more frequency as the divers rotate in and out of the cages. The bait is yanked away when the shark goes to bite it because they don't want them just there to find an easy way to get tuna meat. At times they do grab the meat, but not substantially enough to make it any kind of food source. 5. Lots of comments on "just leave the sharks alone". And that's a debatable position to take, no doubt. But the "leaving them alone" strategy has ended up with the great white sharks on the endangered species list. A huge danger to these sharks is illegal culling for their fins. Having several cage dive boats in this area where the sharks are heavily populated keeps out poachers and protects them. The parks and governments don't have the budgets to keep patrol boats there 24/7/365. And the experience the divers get form these operators brings awareness to the sharks and a thrilling adventure. These are all shark lovers. Doing nothing - sharks may disappear. Having operations like this, a strong argument can be made that it's an effective way to protect the species. 6. The diver had a camera with him and took lots of video and photos, but unfortunately not during the 'event', so there's no underwater video of this from his perspective. 7. On a different note, all viewpoints are allowed equally in the comments, if your comment doesn't show up it's because we have a filter for foul language that's pretty strict as our core subscribers are family friendly kids content viewers, and we want parents of young kids, and the kids themselves, to read comments without bad language. There's no deleting of various view points, just the language itself. I see some very good points being made from both sides but some key words keep them from going public, so if you want to make a good point please do so without bad language. Thank you.
Yes, it's clarification only for those who want to know more of the story, the haters gonna hate on either side regardless, but for those who really want to know more, there it is!
The one who said "Nobody is in the cage" is probably not the guide nor the boat operator, and they corrected themselves later on with "somebody's in the cage". So.
The crew looked like they knew there was someone inside. The moment they incident happened, they were getting ready to go in and when the shark escaped, they grabbed their goggles but they saw the diver surfacing.
What you heard was one of the passengers, not the crew. The crew knows exactly who is in each cage, and for how long, they monitor the cage divers closely. They can tell you to the second how long they've been down and which air hose goes to which diver.
I mean... The description states pretty explicitly that, for his own safety, the diver exited the cage, and returned to it only after the shark had left. So, there seriously was nobody in the cage when the guy said "There's nobody in the cage." No lies, no mistakes.
This company needs to be SHUT DOWN! the bait handler DIRECTED the shark into the cage and most people didn't even know they had somebody down there! the shark GOT HURT and was extremely stressed!!!!
Maria Jesus Valdes you are literally what's wrong with the Internet and life. You know about 10% of the facts and have formed a stupid opinion. The operators clearly knew someone was in the cage, the spectators were confused. The shark wasn't directed, just in case you can't read- sharks are momentarily blinded after lunging at bait. It panicked but got free. Sad that it's bleeding, but it was an accident. ACCIDENT.
The shark 'handlers' are actually experts, this is so rare that it's the first time this happened to them and they've been doing it for decades. No matter how you slice it, it's a risky thing. If these were giant goldfish swimming around, no one would be there.
no, they are professionals they know better than you, they just want to take some footage of the sharks and things goes wrong thats all, the blood probably from the shark struggling to get out from the cage
There is very little we can do about stupidity and common sense is just not so common. If you listened carefully and watched the operators, you will see that they got this and the fact the diver came unharmed was just great. When you go in the shark cage, there is a possibility that you might be eaten by a shark, even our families warn us when we decide on such experience, that is the reality of the experience otherwise go to the aquarium and you will enjoy the experience from behind the glass safely....
This is probably the most hated video of shark tourist companies. Any time you show a tourist a shark cage and assure them it's safe - this video will come out.
What kind of morons build a cage where a big dangerous fish can just slide through. If one guy didn't have the quick mind to open the cage top the guy in there would have been smashed to death.
On the contrary, these irresponsible companies will promote this video to fool hardy thrill seeking tourist. With 4k video and many professionally competent scientific organizations who study sharks posting videos on social media why are these magnificent creatures being abused in their matual habitat?
@@patweb1109 and people wonder why sharks attack. Humans if we aren’t killing them for an out dated status symbol for soup we’re teasing them with food for tourists. These animals have survived Millions of years and if we’re not careful these magnificent creatures will be gone forever. I live white sharks , but I wouldn’t go diving near one as I respect our seas
people get so butthurt over these jokes.................. but it Is the sad truth..... you're more likely to be killed by your SOFA then that GREAT WHITE SHARK
For those interested in the background and full story of this incident to put it into perspective, we just uploaded this video: ruclips.net/video/UffOvJnD-4s/видео.html
One-liner summary of my long post for those who prefer Tweet-sized sentences! 1. Crew knows there's a diver in the cage, it's passengers asking if anyone is in there. 2. Shark had very minor injury and is confirmed okay. 3. These tour operators work with the gov't, non-profit agencies, sanctuaries, marine biologists for the good of the sharks. 4. Cage design and bait techniques are being reviewed and changes made if necessary to ensure safety for sharks and divers. 5. 'Leave the sharks alone' got them on the endangered species list because poachers won't leave them alone. 6. No video footage from diver. 7. If you want your post read, don't cuss because it will be auto-filtered. If you want those points filled out with more info, it's in my other post!
The shark was spotted later that day and several times the next day and was totally fine. There was also a marine biologist aboard the boat at the time. The boat operators know each shark by name, they can identify each individual. They have a binder on the boat with dozens of pages of the known sharks and their names.
The blood pouring from the gills is nothing unusual. Bodily fluid pours out when it’s stressed in a confined space. The same thing happens to me when I’m in a cage with a shark.
That shark is dead. It's right pectoral fin was ripped and it had blood gushing from it's gills. All of that thrashing around in the cage would have given the animal other serious injuries.
Sad. This kind of thing should be banned, no research going on here whatsoever, just throwing "chum" into the water to attract sharks, and some tuna on a rope to guide the shark near the cage. Also conditions shark to see boats as a food source, potentially causing human deaths. I know this is nothing compared to the thousands of sharks killed each year for their fins, but still, two wrongs don't make a right.
the shark bleeding isnt actually because it was hurt, u can see the blood coming from the gills. this happens very often with when they find themselves in a confined space and they stress out. it happened to me twice while handling my koi fish from the pond and i've been koi keeping for the past 9 years.
TheGrandWhiteFox hi! I'm a subscriber! Keep it up! Everybody check it out this guy's page if you want to discover new music or you just want to jam out. 10/10
Of het water goed is??? Het water van de oceaan zal hierdoor wel niet veel veranderd zijn ;) If the shark allright is .. that is an other question. It deed bleed.
he also made a human appear in the cage since the guy says there was no one in the cage, shark exits cage and there is now a human in the cage that is a pretty good magic trick lol
dragonhatcher12 lol you understood wrong. the shark broke in the cage and then came out of the top. and the passengers who didnt know the guy was in there was there cuz they are only passengers and possible has been lookin at there for a shorter time
+Mulinaster Humans are a terrible stain to this planet, you prove that point. Without us it would be a much better place, don't think that somehow nature needs us.
Legit like wtf. All of them claiming no one was in cage, and then “bloop bloop bloop”.. I genuinely don’t understand how no one knew whether someone was in the cage or not. Never take me on that boat
These magnificent apex creatures are not performance experiences for thrill seeking tourists. The GW was in considerably more danger than the person in the cage. Obviously the shark penetrated the cage and finding itself confined it was frantic to get out. Fortunately one of the observers/boat hands opened the top of the cage and gave the GW a means of escape.
You guys need to start issuing some DCMA takedown notices. This video is blowing up. So many websites are stealing this and re-uploading it on their own servers. Do a google search and start filing copyright complaints. You deserve to make a lot of money from this vid. Don't let people profit from your material.
Am I the only one actually happy that the guy is alive? Everybody is worried about the shark, but come on, this is not going to be the next Harambe. Sure, the shark was injured, but I'm sure it's still alive. Please, for one, out yourself in the guys shoes. He almost effing died, have some respect.
The shark didn't even get injured, the blood was from the tuna that they soaked it in. Sharks are attracted to blood, hence them soaking it in blood. And also, I agree with you, I'm not trying not to hate. Hope that helped. :)
are you kidding? animals typically die of injuries.. the blood did not look like it will stop any time soon... the guy meanwhile was "meddling in affairs that ought not to be meddled with"
What is amazing to me, is that they still make the opening in the cage big enough for a shark that size or even half that size to be able to get into the cage. It is harmful to the shark and no one needs to that close to danger to get an adrenaline boost. If that is what you want get out of the cage and give the shark a chance ti see YOU up close.
No that’s stupid logic. If you want to be in a safety cage, to see a shark, that’s totally fine. And the idea of it being harmful to the shark is dumb too. I’m thinking about the humans there. But I’m also not a self loathing person. Now I do agree with you though on the cage size holes. Super stupid. Never understood that either.
@@LadellTurner It so that a human can get out if something does get in and also so they can get out if the cage were to fall all the way to the bottom of the ocean
Theres like a dozen people on board, and no one knew their homeboy was in the cage?!?! Nice friends you got. If he had gotten eaten, no one would have known!! I felt bad for the shark, i hope the blood coming out of his gills wasnt life threatening.
I agree they need better work on the cage, but it isn't easy. that is an incredible strong animal and is capable of bending those bars pretty easily when it is going full force against it. I do not think you can make the steal stronger without making it heavier, or paying a crazy amount for special steel, so it is just the reality. Maybe I am wrong, and someone way smarter needs to come up with a better, stronger system. But, still, i don't blame them for not being able to stop a 2000 pound animal from bending a steel bar, and that is just the average size, biggest females can weigh 4300 lbs when mature.
The cage would be made out of aluminium not steel, it's a lot lighter and doesn't corrode. One wouldn't expect a shark to batter it's way in.I suspect the food was to close to the bars or perhaps fell inside it and the shark went for it. Might be wrong tho.
Dead hamster is the only passenger you can send to the moon, dude. There are only 2 countries which have functional manned spacecrafts at this time. I suppose you're not form one of them.
Yea, you are no doubt right about the aluminum. I should know that. I grew up on the coast and aluminum was used for everything on boats because of its strength-weight ratio, and because it doesn't rust... I just looked up a link here... www.popularmechanics.com/adventure/outdoors/a16400/the-secret-strength-of-shark-cages-is-aluminum/ Scanning quickly, they did make one out of steel, that is for the really big sharks, but it is a 100,000 dollar cage... Ha, it says the sharks would not hurt the cage... I wonder if that was on of their cages... Anyway, yea aluminum you are right....
this video proves that these types of business ventures are NOT 'non-invasive' and 'neutral' to the sharks' natural habitat, and that their business practices DO essentially impact the marine biology and wildlife with potentially dangerous methods employed solely for profitability ... you can argue all you want ... this exercise wasn't conducted for research purposes and the continuance thereof is overall detrimental to sharks in many other aspects too!!
I don't think the issue is so cut and dry. I think they need to tighten up the rules, and there should be way more pressure not to let the animals get too worked up, and into a frenzy, which is when they get hurt, or they kill each other. But there is way worse stuff going on, how about the fishing, lets put an end to sport fishing sharks for fun, and even worse, do something to save the ecosytems which are being destroyed super fast by drag net fishing, which destroys every living thing on the bottom, the are destroying every square part of the ocean floor, and other types of net commercial or huge line fishing is just killing everything fast. That is really what we need to stop, this is only seeming bad because we get to see it, the worse stuff is happening without anyone filming it with a go pro. This lets people get to see the animals, and that always helps conservation. Stopping this will mean people will ignore the fact that they are getting killed by fishing, etc. Even all the cetaceans are being killed now because of sonar oil and gas exploration. They are setting off sonar explosions that make the animals beach themselves to escape it. Those mf from the fossil fuel industry are basically killing all the remaining whales because of this. Watch Sonic Sea, and how they find these dolphins, whales, etc beached with their inside of their eardrums melted, and also the part of their brain that is attached is also liquefied from these explosions that are being set off every few seconds over the length of time of weeks, and systematically sweeping the entire ocean as well. Basically it would be like having the stereo so loud your ears are bleeding, and your brain is liquefying and you cannot escape, so the whales then beach themselves to commit suicide. That is where we need outrage. Yes some sharks are hurt here, but that that is ok if it means we put people in touch with the oceans in a real and emotional way... I don't like seeing the sharks hurt either, but they just need to get better at not letting them get frenzied, and being more careful how they use the bait, etc.
O.o - why should there HAVE be an alternative!? If a similar, more non-invasive method could be applied for scientific research purposes, then i could possibly endorse that; but considering how much research has already been conducted - what can there possibly be to research more, which would essentially necessitate these intrusive methods ... they are obsolete and redundant in my view, and rarely serve any purpose other than spectator value and profitability ... why not just leave the sharks be?
+Leon Coetzee Because right now most people think great white and see Jaws, Jaws II, Jaws III, Deep Blue Sea, etc, and then don't care if these animals get wiped out. As I have said this is not the thing that is not killing them off, it is the fishing, etc, so if you show them swimming gently beside people in cages, and it helps change the image people have, so they will support passing laws and giving money to protect them. They did a study awhile ago where they compared the chances of an endangered animal coming back against the publics perception of them, and there is a direct correlation to the publics perception of liking them, vs not to whether they will be saved. In fact they showed in that study that more then how much money was put into scientific study, etc, that the most important factor that dictates whether an endangered animal will survive is whether the public thinks they are either cute, or they like them. So we need the public to like Great White so they can relate to them, otherwise chances are they will eventually become endangered and there will not be enough done to help them. So while I share you sentiment that some of these yahoos are being ignorant in how they get the sharks riled up, etc, it is more important to let it continue in order to secure their survival...
Quint: Cage goes in the water, you go in the water. Shark's in the water. Our shark. Farewell and adieu to you, fair Spanish ladies. Farewell and adieu, you ladies of Spain. For we've received orders for to sail back to Boston. And so nevermore shall we see you again.
Thank G the guy with the orange T shirt was smart enough to quickly flip the top of the lid open ! Sharks are smart but still fish once it felt trapped all it wanted to do was leave!
I've never had much faith in these (seemingly) oddly designed and flimsy shark diving cages. Why are the gaps so large? Why does it seem like they can break rather easily? It doesn't sound like it would be too difficult to solve those issues when constructing a cage
The gaps is made for adrenaline pumping.. People who likes sharks are surely because of terrified of them but crazy enough want to feel terrifying event from it.. It's just like bdsm ya know, made for masochistic persons who likes danger
He was probably cut and hurt with a broken rail or metallic part. Do not worry for him, sharks have very strong immune systems, so no great risk of infection, it will be left with some scars.
No, the blood is from the SHARK, not the bait. It states clearly in other articles that the shark was injured when a metal bar from the cage was broken off and slashed the side of the shark while it was struggling. Also, it is highly illegal to bait the cage to lure sharks. It makes sharks associate people with food, causing more wildlife conflicts.
The diver was on her "sick girl time". Okay, hun? There's no need for you to worry about girl business. Now, run along and play with your Mindcraft! **turns to Camera 1** And that's how you handle *that* situation? **winks** -Educator Extraordinaire Jessica Trentwood
Ok, yes they lure the animal to the boat with tuna and what not but they didn't do anything else to the shark. Its probably better to have people see sharks in their natural habitat then an aquarium. People can actually see the full power and beauty of these creatures and get more awareness of shark endangerment.
***** yeah the system WAS good, the laws still are some of the best in the world. However the ANC has really ruined this country, I mean the high courts are now being used to try and sideline the minister of finance so that Lord Dictator Zuma can steal even more from the country with his Gupta buddies
Emma L the shark is perfectly fine. It just ate a huge piece of blood soaked tuna (used to lure the shark close to the cage) and since the gills are directly connected to the sharks mouth the tuna blood came out of the sharks gills giving the appearance that it was bleeding from its gills.
There is hardly any common sense in this thread. I will always fight for the protection and preservation of wildlife, but I'm also never ignorant of the fact that some sharks and other species will instinctively kill a human being; not always for food, but mostly when threatened. Sharks are not and never will be pets. Try to cultivate healthy respect for the many types of life that share this planet, but never attribute predators, like sharks, with human thoughts or feelings; it's nearly always a fatal mistake. Also, I'm utterly baffled why so many people would assume the crew were trying to harm the shark or catch it simply because there was a cage. As others have already mentioned, cages are needed to protect the divers. The presence of one in this video could imply that the crew was conducting research or perhaps filming the sharks in their natural habitat. It's as if a ridiculous number of people posting comments have never watched a single documentary or read a book in their entire lives. Then there's the folks more distraught over a perceived injury to the shark than they are to the safety of a fellow human being. Please stop trying to convince people that you're some kind of humanitarian with your absurd logic. Whether your comment reads like a doomsday wish, ridiculously advocating the utter annihilation of mankind in an effort to preserve nature, or was carelessly directed to the diver trapped in the cage who most likely has a family that cares deeply for him, you have only succeeded in making yourself appear less ethical or humane than you perhaps intended. Develop rational solutions if you're worried. You can and should care about all life. Concern for humanity's well-being and the preservation of other species should never be mutually exclusive. Be cautious reasoning in extremes & have a great day.
I assure you, once the shark found itself confined in the cage, the last thing on it's mind was eating a human. The diver was at far greater risk of being crushed or bludgeoned by the shark thrashing around trying to get free.
Im glad to hear that. I thought the same thing when I heard ther person speak is there someone there. I saw the crews worry though. Great video! TY very fun and exciting.
The Shark was not bleeding. All of that red coloured stuff is simply the bait. It's specifically "blended" (and I use that term loosely) to be as bloody and tasty as possible to attract sharks. Sharkskin is incredibly tough. If it were to bleed from anywhere, it would have been either its main dorsal fin or the two side fins (that I forget the name of). What you have here is a very confused shark and scared witless hoomon. (Because if I were in there, the water would be a distinct brown colour).
Just some further information. The blood coming from the gills. If anyone knows how fish breath... they take water in through their mouths and flush it through their gills. Guess where the blood goes. Also... how could it be bleeding from the gills and nowhere else? Logic my friends. It will doom us all ;).
someone reply please and tell me what you think do you think the shark should be put down because I don't know.I don't no how the man was still alive WOW I houp the shark it ok
I don't understand why are there such big holes in the cage, it's dangerous for the shark (because if a shark gets stock he can't swim backwards) and for the divers as well. Is it because you can see more like this as a diver? I hope not.
What kind of morons build a cage where a big dangerous fish can just slide through. If one guy didn't have the quick mind to open the cage top the guy in there would have been smashed to death.
Pelix I meant we should just leave sharks alone. Every time someone goes shark diving they are entering their environment and people wonder why the sharks get agitated. If you go in be prepared for them to check you out
oh as you can see here we have a fascinating creature known as Aaron Mayorga but also referred to by scientists as the perverted person on the internetitus.
It’s horrible for the shark, it looked very hurt and stressed. If you want to visit wildlife, the first decent thing to do is insuring the safety of people and the mostly the wildlife you came to disturb!
@@davrus632 I agree with you! You're absolutely right, human must not disturb wildlife for adrenaline. Everyone should respect pristine nature and give it chance to live its life in its own way without human's stupid affairs like teasing the shark from the cage!
In the words of QUINT. "Cage goes in the water, you go in the cage, shark goes in the water" or Mr Hooper "you got some fancy equipment there.Don't know what that bastard shark will do,probably eat it"
Yes, the gills were bleeding, and no it was not the fish that it ate. Pieces of dead tuna don't bleed. You can see the piece of tuna in the beginning of the video and it is not bleeding. I wouldn't be surprised if the shark died.
I agree with that dude tho, he didn't say it wasn't dangerous, because it clearly is, but the reasoning that it shouldn't be a thing because accidents happens just don't make sense. No one forced these people into this activity, they willingly signed up themselves.
Some common misconceptions I'm seeing in the comments:
1. The people asking if there's anyone in the cage are the passengers, not the crew. The cages hold up to four people each, they have it listed on each air hose who is in the cage and exactly how they long they've been in the water. Could it have been worse? Of course, horrible accidents happen, flocks of birds get struck in jet airplane engines, but landing safely takes skill, experience, and a certain amount of luck.

Directed the shark into the cage? Haha wow.. Youre not a clever one.
no, they are professionals they know better than you, they just want to take some footage of the sharks and things goes wrong thats all, the blood probably from the shark struggling to get out from the cage
If one guy didn't have the quick mind to open the cage top the guy in there would have been smashed to death.
hopfully, cuz it could finally stop the cage diving, which is so dangerous for the sharks
@@pearls4875 Thank you. You’re absolutely right.
a few secs in, the shark realized its in a cage with the most dangerous and cruel species on earth and panicked.
Syrales lol sadly true. At least the shark got away relatively unharmed
katnissandpeeta if a shark tries breaking into a cage and harms itself in doing so how is anyone to blame but the shark ?
katnissandpeeta love your name
he didn't try to break in the cage though. it was an accident after it tried to get the tuna.
people get so butthurt over these jokes.................. but it Is the sad truth..... you're more likely to be killed by your SOFA then that GREAT WHITE SHARK
For those interested in the background and full story of this incident to put it into perspective, we just uploaded this video: ruclips.net/video/UffOvJnD-4s/видео.html

Awesome watching the sharks in cages
I wonder how they confirmed the shark was ok? Or did they just say that to appease people.
The shark was spotted later that day and several times the next day and was totally fine. There was also a marine biologist aboard the boat at the time. The boat operators know each shark by name, they can identify each individual. They have a binder on the boat with dozens of pages of the known sharks and their names.
Gabe and Garrett how in the world is your comment not liked to the top yet, so many confused people in comments.

The blood pouring from the gills is nothing unusual. Bodily fluid pours out when it’s stressed in a confined space. The same thing happens to me when I’m in a cage with a shark.

The same standard in games, when you took the cap off, or turn it to the other side (like Stallone in 'Over The Top') :-)
Hope the shark is ok.
0.25 Pretty sure I saw blood...
Oliver What? What is my second name? it's either the shark's blood or the tuna.
That shark is dead. It's right pectoral fin was ripped and it had blood gushing from it's gills. All of that thrashing around in the cage would have given the animal other serious injuries.
R.I.P Shark :(
Sad. This kind of thing should be banned, no research going on here whatsoever, just throwing "chum" into the water to attract sharks, and some tuna on a rope to guide the shark near the cage. Also conditions shark to see boats as a food source, potentially causing human deaths.
I know this is nothing compared to the thousands of sharks killed each year for their fins, but still, two wrongs don't make a right.
the shark bleeding isnt actually because it was hurt, u can see the blood coming from the gills. this happens very often with when they find themselves in a confined space and they stress out. it happened to me twice while handling my koi fish from the pond and i've been koi keeping for the past 9 years.
usually when my koi fish was netted*

kinda feel bad for the poor shark
Thanks, I was wondering about that.
Cool
What a story this man will be able to tell.

but the shark was hurt
I don't think they were worried about a lawsuit so much as just glad he wasn't dead.
I don't think the shark understands how a shark cage works

Gabe and Garrett Do you have any footage from the camera that the dude in the cage had?
JoshaHoudt Ikr smh

cos there was originally no one in the cage . the dude rode in on the shark and it dropped him off.
Big respect to the man that opened the cage ... he was the only one who knew what the hell was goin on
No disrespect to all who "dive" with a cage!
Is the water okay?
Samy Hadera I don't think so man. Look how the shark beat the crap out of him.
The water? Yeah it seems to be.. phew that was close..Still sparkling blue baby!!!!!!

ptrinch, you mean don't put the bait too close to the cage when your attempting to film a Great White
Where is the footage from the guy in the cage??
now thats footage id like to see
Thats the first thing i thought too
he replied above that he was not recording at the time.
The only door is at the top of the cage. It is open for a quick exit. This is a fairlyrics small great white and pushed through the gap.
if the only door is at the top of the cage, how did it get in?

The shark didn't even get injured, the blood was from the tuna that they soaked it in. Sharks are attracted to blood, hence them soaking it in blood. And also, I agree with you, I'm not trying not to hate. Hope that helped. :)

Yes, the shark was spotted a day later and it is fine.
bro.... a shark always bleeds
Jason Troy the blood comes from the gills
+Konrad Kammerer (RikiRack) do they really? i didnt know that. Why do they bleed?
What is amazing to me, is that they still make the opening in the cage big enough for a shark that size or even half that size to be able to get into the cage. It is harmful to the shark and no one needs to that close to danger to get an adrenaline boost. If that is what you want get out of the cage and give the shark a chance ti see YOU up close.
I always wondered why they do that!
For real. I never understood the big openings
How can they be doubting if there was anyone in the cage??
The crew knew someone was in the cage, the passengers who happened onto the scene are the ones asking this question.
Swaf
SwafflesYT. did you see at the end a guy came out
Theres like a dozen people on board, and no one knew their homeboy was in the cage?!?! Nice friends you got. If he had gotten eaten, no one would have known!!
I felt bad for the shark, i hope the blood coming out of his gills wasnt life threatening.
They knew, but they kept quiet because if the guy is dead, in there, it is better not to let the passengers know. Great way of avoiding a lawsuit.
We can send someone to the moon and we can't build a cage that sharks cannot break into? That just doesn't seem right.
I just looked up a link here...
www.popularmechanics.com/adventure/outdoors/a16400/the-secret-strength-of-shark-cages-is-aluminum/
Scanning quickly, they did make one out of steel, that is for the really big sharks, but it is a 100,000 dollar cage...
Ha, it says the sharks would not hurt the cage... I wonder if that was on of their cages... Anyway, yea aluminum you are right....
I think this is exactly a place where they should use special steel, not some cheap one.
this video proves that these types of business ventures are NOT 'non-invasive' and 'neutral' to the sharks' natural habitat, and that their business practices DO essentially impact the marine biology and wildlife with potentially dangerous methods employed solely for profitability ... you can argue all you want ... this exercise wasn't conducted for research purposes and the continuance thereof is overall detrimental to sharks in many other aspects too!!
what would you suggest in replacement. all very well saying dont do something without having a alternative
So while I share you sentiment that some of these yahoos are being ignorant in how they get the sharks riled up, etc, it is more important to let it continue in order to secure their survival...
still they eat humans

I've never had much faith in these (seemingly) oddly designed and flimsy shark diving cages. Why are the gaps so large? Why does it seem like they can break rather easily? It doesn't sound like it would be too difficult to solve those issues when constructing a cage
This isn't a one time thing either. this has happened a few times now.
The gaps is made for adrenaline pumping.. People who likes sharks are surely because of terrified of them but crazy enough want to feel terrifying event from it.. It's just like bdsm ya know, made for masochistic persons who likes danger

Why was there blood coming out of the shark's gills?
Alixandah How do you know that?

Ok, yes they lure the animal to the boat with tuna and what not but they didn't do anything else to the shark. Its probably better to have people see sharks in their natural habitat then an aquarium. People can actually see the full power and beauty of these creatures and get more awareness of shark endangerment.

Don't know, go jump in and ask him.
Emma L the shark is perfectly fine. It just ate a huge piece of blood soaked tuna (used to lure the shark close to the cage) and since the gills are directly connected to the sharks mouth the tuna blood came out of the sharks gills giving the appearance that it was bleeding from its gills.

Honestly.
Guy almost gets eaten and you're worried about the animal? I would've stabbed that shark into oblivion!
Ah yes, Stab it.. Stab an animal in its natural habitat because it was the SHARKs' fault obviously. OFCOURSE we're worried about the animal.
Josh B. The shark is within it's predatory rights. If you walk through a lion park in South Africa will you blame the lion for attacking you?
imagine just getting slapped by the shark while he is flailing around, I guess its crazy force involved
The shark is bleeding badly around the gills. I guess this is someone's idea of entertainment.
Peter Stuckings it could also be the tuna's blood.

Johaman Jones whats this! A person with common sense in RUclips! Praise the nine!!!
Paul Conaghan I apologize if it took you all day to read.

Haha. You actually made some very valid points in there, somewhere. 👍
well, you wanted to be up close and personal to a predator, careful what you wishf or lol
Whiskiz Yo should have made it fish for
Ali Wahab i like my point better, than making a sea pun :p
You're an idiot. Humans are the predators out of these 2 species.
Only commenting because I want nofitcations about this comment

My goodness. He could have been shark lunch. He is one lucky guy, remind me never to go into a shark cage ever.
Always remember, never go into a shark cage ever.
💁🏽♂️
I assure you, once the shark found itself confined in the cage, the last thing on it's mind was eating a human. The diver was at far greater risk of being crushed or bludgeoned by the shark thrashing around trying to get free.
I want to see the footage the diver shot.
ChilidogLance that's what I'm here for!
I've heard all you can see is brown water...
Is there someone In the cage??//???/? You have to be kidding.. They had to ask?.. No way.
That is the spectators you can hear asking.
That was a passenger, not the crew. The crew was very aware of what was going on, who was in there and for how long.
You sir, are a delightful idiot.
Im glad to hear that. I thought the same thing when I heard ther person speak is there someone there. I saw the crews worry though. Great video! TY very fun and exciting.
Why would you have the bait so close to the cage - that was stupid... Poor shark, it was bleeding :(
poor human survived
That shark was just trying to live its life and ended up confused and injured
That shark thought he had found dinner
Shark get in the cage where was one man-diver.
Then shark trying to get out of the cage like scared pussy cat.
WHO IS THAT MAN??? o.O
Tai ger chuck Norris
A Weed my thoughts exactly

someone reply please and tell me what you think do you think the shark should be put down because I don't know.I don't no how the man was still alive WOW I houp the shark it ok
I've always thought the wholes were too big
Charlotte Jurczenko preach
*holes
Charlotte Jurczenko he break the cage the holes are too small for him to pass
***** same difference
Charlotte Jurczenko don't worry they aren't as big as your breasts ;)
I don't understand why are there such big holes in the cage, it's dangerous for the shark (because if a shark gets stock he can't swim backwards) and for the divers as well. Is it because you can see more like this as a diver? I hope not.
Oh my gosh! I had no idea that a shark would ever try to attack a person dangling, semi-exposed, in chum filled waters! Good thing the cage worked!
be careful what you fish for when going diving with sharks.
"Careful what you fish for." Lol :D
I hope the shark wasn't seriously hurt. What a freak occurrence, though! That's a story the diver will be telling for a long time!!
What kind of morons build a cage where a big dangerous fish can just slide through. If one guy didn't have the quick mind to open the cage top the guy in there would have been smashed to death.
And the shark too... About the story telling. 😁
Props to the deck hand he realised what was going on and acted fast.
lol. the shark was more scared of the guy.. couldnt have gotten out of there any faster.. 😂

I disagree. Sharks don't really display fear of humans. Orcas? Then yeah. But humans? Nah.
It was afraid of the cage.
casey childs The Joke went over your head buddy
And that's why you don't f*cking mess with nature
fletcho909 So you are not supposed to help animals?
special snowflake lmao
Pelix I meant we should just leave sharks alone. Every time someone goes shark diving they are entering their environment and people wonder why the sharks get agitated. If you go in be prepared for them to check you out
fletcho909 Yeah, I get what you meant. I meant my comment as a joke.
special snowflake Oh ok. That was hard to establish :)
Took the word "lucky" to a whole new level!
"Ok so whos goin in next?"
uh me...
00:35, "Nobody's in the cage"? Really? They don't even know if there is someone in there? Great organization...
Poor shark
Jaymez Laflare too bad the animal didn't win this one. No sympathy for morons like this
Poor dude
Poor water
poor bait
poor me
the shark was injured in the process bleeding through the gills
Yes, but the shark is okay.
Lolita HoneyComb idk about sharks honestly, but I hope he or she is. That would suck if that awesome healthy looking white shark died because of that.
BuHzaRRo hope it's k
I work as a fisheries observer and that shark is okay. It's fairly normal for a little bit of bleeding to occur from an incident like that.
oh ok, but how and why does that happen in an event like this? I felt hecka bad about that shark
Ummmmmmm wow there was someone in the cage
i would get in that cage for you if thats what it takes to wife you up

oh as you can see here we have a fascinating creature known as Aaron Mayorga but also referred to by scientists as the perverted person on the internetitus.
was it Richard Dreyfuss?
Aaron Mayorga creep
Just another reminder, cameraman never dies.
Always carry a camera!
It’s horrible for the shark, it looked very hurt and stressed. If you want to visit wildlife, the first decent thing to do is insuring the safety of people and the mostly the wildlife you came to disturb!
The shark literally put itself in there people watch sharks from cages bc it can be dangerous they weren’t disturbing the wildlife
@@sixela9389 you did not see the bait or are you blind? they lure him in there, don't toy with nature.
I think we should stop disturbing animals ...human beings are just a problem for the sea..
@@davrus632 I agree with you! You're absolutely right, human must not disturb wildlife for adrenaline. Everyone should respect pristine nature and give it chance to live its life in its own way without human's stupid affairs like teasing the shark from the cage!
In the words of QUINT. "Cage goes in the water, you go in the cage, shark goes in the water" or Mr Hooper "you got some fancy equipment there.Don't know what that bastard shark will do,probably eat it"
The shark's gill openings was bleeding after the breach.
Oh he dead son
That was the salmon it ate.
Alien Dweeb so if the shark was eating the salmon why was it by the cage?
Yes, the gills were bleeding, and no it was not the fish that it ate. Pieces of dead tuna don't bleed. You can see the piece of tuna in the beginning of the video and it is not bleeding. I wouldn't be surprised if the shark died.
No, its blood frm the meat he at.
Shark: ''Ohh, hello human''
*gets stuck inside cage*
Shark: ''WTF DID YOU DO TO ME HUMAN''
Can we see what the cage looked like afterwards?
Why wasn't the diver filming?! Can you imagine how awesome the footage would've been??
i don't think he has times to film if i was honest
Probably wouldn’t have seen much. The shark’s body and then foam would have interfered a ton.
And this is why shark cage diving shouldn’t be a thing.
These people are crazy.

I agree with that dude tho, he didn't say it wasn't dangerous, because it clearly is, but the reasoning that it shouldn't be a thing because accidents happens just don't make sense. No one forced these people into this activity, they willingly signed up themselves.
Indeed
Tanya Reyes there was someone in there, watch the whole video
Thank you for not being click bait trash
Why on earth would anyone get into a cage, that Shark can go through it? Doesn't serve the purpose. Thank God, the guy survived, what a miracle!!!!
Poor animal, bleeding, panicking, engaged. Humans act like satan
@@RereDomingues Correct
The shark got into the cage with no intention of showing anything any mercy
