    To be honest, as a signage user with more than 15 years of experience and work with all three types of printers, i think that eco-solvent is definitely a history due to smell and curving edges. But, I would not count off latex in comparison to UV, as latex prints are way more vivid and they can be used in wrapping curvy surfaces, on both matte and glossy media. On the other hand, UV prints can't be stretched a bit, so you can't cover even a slightest unevenness.
    Beside that, latex printer which prints 23-25 sqms per hour cost abot $25k, and UV printer in the same print speed cost $50-70k. Cost per sqm are about $2,5 on latex vs 1,5-2 on UV, so depends on your production you choose financially the most efficient option. Of course, it is important to say that latex print fade outdoors after 2-3 years unlaminated...

      Good write up. Thanks. So basically you are saying that if you were to do car wraps, latex or eco solvent would be the way to go?

    • @igor.vorgic
      @igor.vorgic 4 года назад +1

      @@troyd-motorsport9933 definetely. If you are to do wraps, forget UV (for now) in most cases. I've read that few UV machines can do prints for curvy wraps like Mimaki UCJV150/300 with LUS200 inks, and Canon Ocè Colorado 1650 also, but I never used their prints in real situation so I think that you should stick with solvent or latex for that purpose as all of them do the job perfectly.

      @@igor.vorgic Igor, what would you use to print basic but precise marks and lettering on either anodised or powder coated Aluminium? Would you say a print solution is cheaper than laser marking on a batch production basis? Precision? i.e. lining up print/laser area over pre-marked templates below? I'm trying to bring a product to market and it's a steep learning curve to get to a final finish with a viable profit margin. Thanks!

    Hello Anand, on my humble opinion i think you didn't take in count many things about the difference between the ink technologies.
    Specifically on the inks, one of the main differences between hp latex inks and ecosolvent and uv is that the latex inks doesn't penetrate into the substrate so you don't need the substrate to be coated, you can print on almost everything. The látex particles in the ink form a film that protects the inks. So the versatility is way more wide ranged in hp latex inks, beside that the ink is flexible wich not all the UV inks are.
    On the cost comparission it actually depends on the costs of the consumables of each machine in their own countries. Because the inks doesn't have the same costs in India, or in USA or in Europe or in Asia or in Latin America. But the thing that you have to take most in count is that UV printers and ecosolvent printers have a lot of mainteinance costs, the ink costs represents only the 50% of the productive cost per square meter. In HP latex inks the cost of the ink represents 95% of the cost per square meter.
    On the item that you say that an UV advantage is to print on rigid materials it will actually depend on the machine and the capability of higher or lower the printing carriage wich also requires a bidirectional calibration each time you variate the hight of the carriage. That leaves you a really wide variety of options and different costs of machines.
    Finally the UV printers and Solvent/Eco-Solvent printers use piezo printheads wich has a cost 10 times higher than thermal ink printheads (wich are used on hp latex printers) and the amount of nozzles per inch on a piezo printhead is around 100-300 and on thermal inkjet printheads the amount of nozzles per inch is 1200 so there's a visible diference in the resolution of the printer. With this i'm not saying that piezo printheads can't print with high resolution, they can but they have to pirnt in many more passes to get that kind of qualitiy. Latex printhead can achieve more resolution with less passes.
    I really liked your video and hope you don't take this as an ofense, i just wanted to add some more information to your comparission. Best wishes!

      Pablo, I tend to agree with you more here.
      If I may add, UV prints lacks the kind of color vibrancy and gamut compared to Solvents/Eco-Solvents and Latex prints.
      However, looking at the improvements of UV inks over the years, I will not be surprised to see this gap becoming very close.
      At the end of the day, there's no ink technology that will tick all the checklist.

      you have to find a UV machine with a rotary holder which can accommodate a whole baseball bat, it will rotate it as required. But this is difficult to find, so you might be better off doing a ScreenPrint instead.

      Hi Asanga, Ideally you should look for a reliable dealer of a brand like Roland, Mimaki, Seiko in your market for a small UV printer (1.6m). Every country has different brands that are active. If you are looking at 3.2m UV then quite a few Chinese brands are also very good, just assess which brand is prevalent in your country.

      Asanga W .. First sorry for my English, and I hope I can help. I’m looking for UV prints too and what I saw in this last show PRINT-UNITED 2019 in Texas was:
      Avoid to use epson print head because only good for 2 years then cross ur fingers and also print very slow. Try to get one with RICOH gen5 printhead, it is technology from 2016.. Ricoh gen6 just started this year on April so very expensive if you find it. This printhead is easy to fix and replace. Also check the type of ink you need UV ink, solvent, others,
      logojet and Roland use epson printhead..
      mimaki the small one 12x12in :$20,000
      2.3x1.8in : $40,000 after this is 4x8 ft sizes probably over $80,000 +
      There a lot more inf but I think this is just good to start for small business ..

    Hello Anand, what is the best method to print on fabrics/cloths/textiles?

    • @SIGNHOUSETV
      @SIGNHOUSETV  4 года назад

      this depends on the type of Fabric. the most prevalent fabric printing technology available today is dye sublimation printing on polyester fabrics, which are used for flags, upholstery and fashion.there are additional technologies for cotton, silk and poly-cotton. So it all depends on what you are trying to achieve. the lowest cost of entry into fabric is dye sublimation printing on polyester.

      varun sarda .. Roland LEF2-200 $25,995. (Print size 1.8x1 ft )
      First Sorry for my English, I hope I can help:
      Roland is a beautiful machine, but all depends on budget, print size and speed.
      Price is good if you don’t need bigger size of print area. Also there is
      Mimaki $24,000 (print size 1.4x1 ft)
      This printer use Printhead epson so is slow comparing with Ricoh gen5 .. but u don’t find Ricoh in small sizes.
      China products are less expensive but you don’t have the quality of Roland and the technical support.
      But If you are a person who can fix your printer yourself, go with china. You will save a lot.

      varun sarda Hi Varun, Roland UV printers are definitely very good and you should not have any issues with them.
