    If you are using their video from about a year ago then you need to check those benchmarks again. Driver updates make the 6700XT an in between the 3060ti and 3070 in raster performance and rhe 6750XT a 3070 competitor an even downright beating it. So I would say 6700XT is better.

      Funnily enough in some games the 6700xt beats it in raytracing due to more VRAM.
      Still the 6700XT delivers way better rasterization which means you can play at native 1440p which will always look better than DLSS. At 1080p any upscaler just looks awful.

      Comparing bus width in this case doesn't matter because the 6700 XT has a lot of cache and more VRAM, that more than accounts for the bus width being slightly lower. If bus width was a huge factor when comparing Ampere vs RDNA 2 GPUs, the 6900 XT would have a much harder time against the 3080 Ti / 3090 as opposed to trading blows with them like it actually does.

    Ah yes this answered my comment on your other short. It’s not a 3060 ti but I mentioned my solo fan asus 3060 12 gb overclocked to 2.2ghz core clock and 8500 mhz vram, offers the same value proposition while fitting in a 7700k based minitower you can easily find with 32 gigs of vram and an SSD for 200 bucks. With DLSS Q I’m playing cyberpunk at 4k getting 40-60 fps on high settings (high SSR, ultra for low impact, sometimes ray traced shadows). I considered an external/vertical 6700 or 6750 XT but even if it could run well on my proprietary hp 500w psu, or I was willing to run it externally with a secondary power supply, it wouldn’t have offered a better experience without DLSS. Completely agree here.

      @CulesViljoen 9 месяцев назад +1

      Ray tracing is kinda irrelevant. In order for it to properly run on the 3060 ti you'll have to turn down a lot of the quality settings to begin with since it eats a lot of vram and that 8 gb isn't going to be enough. Eventually you're going to have a better experience playing a game at high settings with good fps without rt, which the 6700 xt can supply because of the 12gb of vram and the 3060 ti can't. The 6700xt just plain out performs better at high or ultra settings or with 1440p, in a lot of modern games. Doesn't matter if RT is on or off on both.

    Gotta disagree here but only slightly - I have a natural bias for Amd but I still think the 6700 xt would be better, as it is much newer and will continue to receive driver support and potential minor fps increases along with it. Think you could get a 7800XT/higher, cpu platform some Intel 12th gen are dirt cheap (same 13th with sales) with a lot of speed and cores or Ryzen 7000 series to upgrade later (7600 are 210ish, 7700 are 8cores). Would try to spend on graphics card and get a decent cpu for next 3-5 years. At least 1tb (or 512gb absolute minimum) for storage, 32gb ram would be ideal (16 min). Am sure there should be a good build guide on here or pcpartpicker might have a good one made up.

    Ratchet and clank crashes multiple times because of VRAM shortage on my old RX580. I can only imagine this being even worse with a much faster card that still only has 8GB. I had enough bad experiences with 8GB cards so yeah, I would pick the 12GB RX6700XT.

    If the GPU performance is close, and the price is close, why not go with the extra VRAM? My wife has a 6600, and the 8 gb of vram definitely holds it back in certain titles.

  • @evilgeek87
    @evilgeek87 4 месяца назад

    Rtx features don't really make as much of a difference at lower performance tiers like these.
    You'll likely get better quality by using higher texture quality while lowering settings in 1440p on the 6700xt, and at only 8 gigs, the 3060ti likely will end up being relegated to 1080p sooner than the 6700xt. Even using dlss will be a problem because upscaling from 1080p requires memory that the 3060ti doesn't have to spare. And as fsr gets better, it will become a more viable option at 1440p, and it's less likely that new games won't have both options.
    Unless you plan on upgrading again in like a year, the vram does actually matter here. Is say it's less of an issue between 12 and 16 gb with say an AMD x800 level and an RTX x070(ti) card if they're close enough in performance and price, because you can probably get away with dlss 4k with just 12gb for a while, especially until another console generation raises the amount of memory developers are targeting.

    I game on a 1080p monitor and I would have to suggest that the Radeon is the better choice if you're on a 1080p monitor and have no intentions to upgrade to 1440p. The extre V-ram doesn't make a difference now, but it will most likely make a difference down the line.
    Dlss is a good thing if you own a 1440p monitor or are about to upgrade, ray tracing however is a waste of time

    I actually just had to make this decision, and the determining factor was S.A.M. Where I have a Ryzen 7 5800 CPU, I went with the 6700xt for the Smart Access Memory feature that is available if you have both an AMD CPU & GPU. It made sense to me, but I am definitely still noob when it comes to this stuff. Any opinions on if this was the right move? Or if the S.A.M. even makes a big enough difference to consider when buying? Please, Comments, let me know your thoughts.

    8GB of VRAM isn't letting you do RT at a resolution that matters, even with DLSS so not really a selling point. Also, RSR and FSR exist and 99% of people will not be able to notice a difference between either of those or DLSS (when supported). VRAM is king, it will make the cards stay relevant for longer.

    Many games nowadays require more VRAM even in 1080p, and even more games at 1440p. Even DLSS looks quite bad at 1080p, and even at 1440p, it's only at 4K where upscaling looks decent. In many new titles the RT performance of 3060ti and 3070 is very bad again because of the VRAM. Even if the 6700XT was more expensive (which it isnt) it'd be worth it.
