are you using a Dimmer Pack to connect the controller to the lights, to change colours?

I'm just starting off as a dj, I don't know much about lighting yet. I would like to get a few LEDs but I don't know what to get. Do you have recommendations for both lights, stands, and controllers for the lights? Keep in my I have to be very cost-efficient.

Thanks for the video. This is the first one I found that talks about LEDs. I found it after watching your excellent DMX 101 video. I am just getting into lighting for my band and found both videos very helpful. BTW Be aware that videographers can have problems with intense pure blue LEDs. Certain types of sensor chips go crazy and supersaturate LED blue, such that it can’t be fixed in Post.

You are incorrect on the tri color LED's and brightness. The tri color LED has 3 LED's built into one LED "package" and just like all other RGB LED fixtures, when you are only using one of the primary's, Red, Green, Or Blue, you are only getting 1/3 of the maximum light output when compared to having all three colors turned on full brightness.
You are correct that the light will be more balanced, or blended but when it comes to actual brightness, you are incorrect.
Just wanted everyone to be properly informed!

    Hi lisaart02,
The light bar shown in the video is the Freedom Strip Mini by Chauvet, which is very similar to the Mega Go Bar by American DJ. Both fixtures are rated for about 8 hours of use on a full charge, although it varies depending on how the lights are programmed (heavy color mixing may reduce that time). You can find more info on both of these fixtures at pssl.com
    Thanks for watching!

Even on Tri-LED, the purple/mix colors will be brighter then solid color. Because there is more then one led is one.

We need a practical way to put the lighting on stands that do not get in the way of the audience, and dont shine up at performers faces to cast stupid shadows. A mic stand / lighting stand seems logical. Whats the standard method for maximum portability and minimum stupidity?
