The Shirakami-Sanchi mountain range, spanning Aomori and Akita prefectures, is a mountainous area with pristine beech forests that have been registered as a World Natural Heritage site. From early to late October, the beech trees, along with maples and mountain maples, vividly change color, captivating visitors. This time, we will introduce the Aomori Prefecture side. On the "Anmon Keikoku Route," submission of a notification of passage and the wearing of helmets are required due to the risk of falling rocks, creating an atmosphere of true wilderness. During the autumn foliage season, the beech forest surrounding waterfall basins is dyed in autumn colors, exuding a fantastical ambiance.
青森県と秋田県にまたがる白神山地は、世界自然遺産に登録された原生的なブナ林が広がる山岳地帯です。10月上旬から下旬にかけて、ブナをはじめ、カエデ、ヤマモミジなどが鮮やかに色づき、訪れる人々を魅了します。今回は青森県側を紹介。「暗門渓谷ルート」では通行届の提出と落石の為、ヘルメットの着用が必要須。まさに秘境ムード満点です。紅葉の時期には、滝壺を囲むブナ林が紅葉に染まり、幻想的な雰囲気を醸し出します。
