I have had a tremendously difficult path in life... from in the womb to age 39... I was premature... 2lbs 3oz.. a Crack addicted baby, my birth mother had her own trama... and allowed me to be severely assaulted at the age of 5... that was just the start.. I was assaulted numerous times since then..put in foster care at 8 for 5 and 1/2 years... adopted at age 13... and then it's been one trama after another since then... then at 18 I began to cause my own pain and trama in my life.... I became an addict, I lost EVERYTHING... including my children... November 2022 I finally quit blaming God for my pain, for my trama, and realized even tho he didn't deliver me from the horrific situations ... but he did SAVE MY LIFE TIME AND TIME AGAIN. Thank You Lord for opening my eyes. Thank you for your mercy and grace. For your love.
Praise God for your deliverance. I had to face some stuff young in life that led me to alcoholism but God delivered me from addiction 10 years ago. Never looked back. He is my friend and my comforter. Walking through uncertainty now and I know he has already gone ahead of me. I don’t have to walk alone and neither do you. Praise Jesus. You inspire me. So happy you know the love of God and I am sorry you have to walk through such horrific tragedy in your young life. Always lean into Jesus. When you gave your life to Jesus I know all of heaven rejoiced! Your life is so precious to God. God bless you and keep you.
I am so sorry you have had to face so very many difficulties. I pray the Lord will, in the fullness of time, give you so muchore than you have lost. We have a redeeming God who makes all things new. I pray you will know his love and care for you deep in your being. May he bless you and keep you and your children every moment and every day of your life. God bless you. You can write journals to help you remember important events. I take care of a senior with severe dementia and she wrote a book of her important memories. She also did scrapbooks. She reads that book and her books often to help her remember.

Even though it's been 1½ years since we lost our precious Jackie, I still wake up every single day and whisper words of disbelief in my mind like, "I am the Mom of a daughter who was murdered," or, "It's really true... she's really gone." Saying those words are as automatic for me as drawing breath and, at times, doing both of those things simultaneously ache deeply. For several months after Jackie died, the pain was so engulfing and my heart ached so indescribably that I would lay down at night and think, "Well...I know I won't be alive come the morning. This hurts so much that there is no way my heart is going to be able to continue beating through the night." When I would actually wake up the next morning, I was genuinely surprised that my heart hadn't stopped beating. I would think in disbelief, "How? How on Earth is my heart still beating?!" Day in and day out, that was my first thought of the day when I'd open my eyes in the morning and my last thought before closing my eyes at night.
Well, one day I told the Lord how I expected to feel His presence become exceptionally closer now that we've lost Jackie, but I told Him I didn't feel like He was. I told Him I expected some incredible, unfathomable "sign" like a burning bush or loud voice coming from a bright light saying, "Behold, I am with you," but.... no... nothing remotely close to that has happened. However, God, in His compassion, reassured me that He is absolutely much closer as a result of our loss! He told me that the very fact I could still breathe is because He is holding my heart together. The fact that I have never gotten angry with Him is because He alone has secured my faith in Him. The fact that I can laugh and have joy every single day for this past year and a half is because I was being carried every single moment in the mighty arms of God Himself! The fact that I haven't been utterly crushed in mind, body, or soul is only because I am in His grip! Whenever we sing this beautiful song in church now, I resonate with these lyrics so very well. Truly, my God holds me fast. 💕
I am so sorry. May you find Him today, in your lowest depths and know that He has gone lower for us His beloved. "As the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolations also abound by Christ."
I hope someday you read this. We too lost a son, but in a different way. He was found to be a child molestor. The pain was indescribable, but you understand how we felt. We can only now know a small portion of the pain of the blessed savior
I hear scourby reading Isaiah on RUclips and those words I will carry you in old age have been in my mind of late. No man can pluck us from Jesus. Neither death nor life nor things present.... Jesus is the good shepherd and Carrie's us all the way. He holds the universe and shapes it every day to the pattern he has planned. There are dark threads as well as gold and silver.

For 6 months my husband has been in hospital. After 40 years of marriage the change was sudden and devastating with psychotic behavior. The only one holding me is God.

The comfort the Holy Spirit has led the Getty's to describe in this epic song has literally been a lifeline to me - in the wake of losing my dear Sheri, my deepest love & wife of 32 years !
Christ brought us together in 1988 and our 32 years of love & abundant life together was shifted in 2021 when Jesus called her home to Heaven.
I NEVER planned to lose my her at just 56, but the liver cancer was irreversible so we parted ways - for now saying not goodbye but "Au Revoir" until we meet again in Christ's presence !
And I KNOW Christ has held her fast - secure & HEALED from all life's fearful blast, sickness & uncertainty.
I am mostly healed of grieving 2.5 years after - confident Jesus is holding ME fast, here on Earth, just as He's holding her fast in Heaven.

Yes, He holds us fast. My story is nearly identical to the one you have written. My wife of nearly 36 years battled with pancreatic cancer for 3 years, and then 2 weeks with Covid-19. She knew her Savior and that He had her days numbered. She trusted Him. During that time He held us fast. And since her parting at the young age of 58, He has held me fast.
Thank you Getty's for your words of truth and comfort for, I'm sure, thousands or millions of grieving people. May the worlds of this song draw those to Him that suffer in this world. Knowing that for eternity, "He will hold me fast"!
I'm so glad to read such great testimonies from fellow brothers in the Lord who trust our Lord with all their hearts, know he holds us fast.
Even though I have not been separated from my wife for the time being, I am and have been struggling with what has become a porn addiction. But in God's word and the lyrics of this song, I know that he will hold me fast and that through all the hard times, no matter what, He is here with me and here with us.

I'm 17 two years ago was a big problem for me with mental illness, it all got worse and worse til it came to a head in January last year and I was prepared to attempt suicide but the Lord was gracious and I can say I'm free of my depression for the most part now. Things can and will get better for you my friend.

I just went through surgery . Despite the prayers of my friends and family and myself, God has allowed me to go through a lot more complications than might have been. Before surgery I kept hearing this song on the radio on different stations and I had never heard before in all my years. God was giving me a comfort, BEFORE the adversity and I am clinging to His Love and provision. Sometimes things don't work out butt He is still good and He is still there.

I must tell you just how, specifically, this song has been an encouragement! My Mom has Parkinson's disease, in a wheel chair, gradually coming closer to being bed ridden. During one of my last visits her head was hung down low and had been that way for some time. I thought how can I encourage her! This song came to mind. I was so thankful for my son being with me, I asked him to find this song and play it for her, I held it up to her ear and as the words were heard and began to sink in, her head slowly rose to looking up, as though pondering and drinking in these words of hope!!! @jameshowgego1944 I do have good support at my church. Thankfully, I am a grown adult, so I wasn't living at home when this occurred, and I had already made a life of my own. The most helpful things have been God's comfort, the comfort of my sweet husband, godly friends who listen and give wise advice, and lastly, a Christian grief program called Grief Share. God has proven Himself to be true --- He says He is the comforter, and He has proven that He is. I could not do without Him.
I cannot hear this without weeping. His love and promises are so wonderful!

During her 28 month battle with cancer, my wife of 45 years always found comfort and strength when listening to this beautiful song of faith. She passed away in March in my arms as the digital clock said 8:28. I miss her so much. Whenever I visit her grave, I make sure to play this song. Do you think she knows?
I am mourning with you Paul. These afflictions are only temporary but when you arrive, you can ask her in person. I hope you have trusted on Jesus Christ. He lived the perfect sinless life for you and, even though was the only innocent person who would ever live, He paid the price for your sins so you wouldn't have to. This brings peace between God and us so that we can be with Him forever. Trust in Christ. He rose from the dead to show us that all that was spoken of Him was true. Dear David, I think the goodness or badness is not the question, but one of worth and value. Jesus, according to the Gospels, was made a ransom to buy us back from destruction. If you had a child abducted and they wanted a million dollars for the safe return, what would be worth more to you as a father, the million or your child? The answer is obvious, the child. I first discovered this worship song I a service I took part in a few years ago at my local methodist church. Having recently discovered I have been masking anxiety (and now depression) on and off since childhood, and now almost daily since catching a chest infection a couple of years ago, I am really appreciating the words of this worship song more than ever. My heart breaks for the pain I know you're probably still working through. I lost my mom last July to cancer. I am so so sorry dear brother in Christ. May the Lord give you His peace and comfort you through this time. Your mother is no longer in a world of sin and pain, and that is a comforting thought to hold to as well. I'm just a little over one year since receiving my cancer diagnosis, and I can assure you that the Lord is with you and your daughter. He definitely has a plan and none of what you're going through has caught Him by surprise.
This is another opportunity for you to see Him at work in your life and that of your daughter. Cling to God's unchanging hand and remember no matter what that the Lord loves you, and He is with you each and every moment to give you strength, wisdom, and comfort.
Do as much research as you can and please don't just take conventional medicine as the only treatment or solution.
Let the pastor and trusted elders of your church come together and anoint your daughter, laying hands on her for God's healing. God can heal her all at once or slowly over time until the cancer is all gone. The healing process and however He chooses to work is up to Him and for His glory.

Death of a loved one, He is there, death of a marriage, He is there, a child gone a stray, He is there, finding your only child has mental illness, He is there, losing the job you depended on to make a living, He is there, struggling back to your feet, He is there, finding a cancer growing in your body, He is there, taking medical treatment that is more painful than the disease that is threating to kill you, He is there. Being cured, He is there, A second marriage, He is there. Helping to raise children that you did not father, He is there. I mention all these heart breaks and struggles for they are part of my story. Through all these, Jesus held my hand and still leads me today. When the time comes, I have no doubt that when my time here is gone, I will enter heaven and He will be there and I will praise Him forever, for He NEVER left me alone in my sorrow or in the great joy that He gives. When our suffering can help others to see God's faithfulness as we have witnessed first hand then our suffering is not in vain. He has been with and carried me through so much in life.. parents death, unfaithful husband that left me with 3 children with 2 weeks notice and no $$$. BUT was just newly saved!! He provided me with dependable loving family in Christ..And 4 jobs to support us.
My children are all adults and know Christ as Savior. The oldest a pastor and author of 6 books about old testament and teaches theology to graduate students.
If Christ didn't " hold us fast during all this heart ache we wouldn't know Him and how He suffered and died for us ..
His father held Him fast!!. Praise God for seeing the depth of His love in our heart aches that allow us opportunity to come along side of others to share Christ and His salvation of love.

When Christ died on the cross, He died for all the reasons and circumstances that have played a part in the sin that you did! In other words, if you have been saved, His death covered ALL of your sins, even the ones of which you references earlier!
You may need a trauma therapist to help you process these sins.
Good theological teaching will also help you experience more forgiveness. But for those who are trusting in the finished work of Christ, greater is the One living inside of us than the one who is living in this world.
We have a real Savior.

Our enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy. To pervert, manipulate, and confuse, distract, divide, and disable.
But God is greater than the doubts that clutter your mind, the enemies that frustrate your plans, the heart-wrenching and even soul-crushing situation that’s currently consuming your thoughts.

This is such a blessing especially where it says ‘For my love is often cold’. Sometimes I find myself hardened to the truth, cold towards God and others and even myself. Thankfully I am out of that now.. but during those times I feel even more unworthy because of all that God has done for me. Praise God that He holds us fast, Praise the King who is also our keeper! The children move my face to smile and your voices move my heart to worship. When I first heard Kristyn sing this song, I knew it would be among my most beloved hymns.
