- From the 2000 Mercury Smashes Box Set... this is an extended version, almost nine minutes long. The following information is from Wikipedia: "Slippin' and Slidin'" is a R&B / rock 'n' roll song performed by Little Richard. The song is credited to Little Richard, Edwin Bocage (Eddie Bo), Al Collins, and James Smith.[1]
Eddie Bo first recorded the song in 1956 under the name "I'm Wise". His recording was released by the Apollo label.[2][3] Little Richard covered it in the same year, and changed the title to "Slippin' and Slidin'". His version is on his first album, Here's Little Richard.[4]
"Slippin' and Slidin'" was the title of a song written by Maxwell Davis and performed by Calvin Boze and His All Stars, and released in May 1951 by Aladdin Records (3086). The song was described as "an engaging set of novelty lyrics, while combo puts down a swingy, medium shuffle." [5] Over a year earlier, this song had been recorded by Gene Phillips - Jack McVea, and released on Modern (20-733). It was a fast blues with Phillips delivering in a Louis Jordan like style.[6] A version by J. Lewis and Trio was released on Atlantic (927) in early 1951.[7]
Nobody can sing it like Jerry Lee.
Very nice to have you here listening! 🎹❤️
Obrigado Paul Gaston por partilhar ( em 2015...) esta fantástica versão do Jerry l.lewis ! Foi à 9 anos , mas só agora a descobri . Nunca é tarde para ouvirmos o que gostamos.
I'm not able to understand your language. I'm not even able to copy and paste to translate. Thank you for coming to my channel! 🎹🎹💜
I have never heard this. It is simply amazing!
It's on the 30th Anniversary Album with a shortened version. Same track but just 6 minutes 49 seconds then fades out. I could listen to this if went on for a whole hour.
It is just good to listen to...
This is a piece of magic! It just rocks along at a great pace.
Over 8 minutes! Thank you for listening! 🎧💜
Originally done in 1951 by a guy called Calvin Boze, this song went on to be covered by many others including Gene Vincent, Little Richard and Buddy Holly. Jerry Lee brings it 100% back to its blues/R&B roots with this jam session version.
9 minutes of pure joy! 🎹🎹💜
Great slow version, nice jam 🎶🎵🎶❤️
What a fabulous and beautiful version !
Thanks to Paul Gaston for sharing.
Yes

thank you - Jerry Lee wins again regards from Colin Dale.
Let's hear it fo Mr. Lovelace have mercy!!!!😯
Don't know what this particular style is called, but I love it. I can imagine Jerry Lee and Little Richard giving a heavenly performance of this song in Heaven. I love the photo...looks like an old church piano he's hammering on while giving the cafeteria-style chair a kick with his cool cat black and white shoes. Classic JLL.
Particular style?
It's Jerry Lee Lewis style
Def got some swing/shuffle
IT'S CALLED JERRY LEE LEWIS BOOGIE WOOGIE !!!
For me he's the best, can sing Rock @Roll and nobody beats him at country, AND his piano playing, THE VERY BEST.you can not beat it.
Love this slow version of the classic !!
Quick slow
This is, so far, my most preferred piece and I am listening to it all the time :), OK, everything could change with time, so my preferences too and I already had my preferred pieces, now is this Slippin' and Slidin' by Jerry Lee Lewis
9 minutes of rock and roll!!
Fantastique interprétation du Killer 😊

Superior excelente único grandioso lo mejor.
Thank you for listening! 🎧💜
What a jam
Jerry lee lewis great patio player great legends we hav lost should make flim about their lives
It’s a good thing when Jerry Lee Lewis can take a song made famous by Little Richard and make it all his. It took talent to change it into a blues shuffle and make it so mighty fine. I also like how Kenny Lovelace swings that fiddle. I wish Jerry Lee Lewis’ favorite label Mercury Records had put it out there when he was still alive and well and rocking the piano.
a beauty by the ... KILLER
As George Gobel would say "They don't make them like this any more." Too bad!
He was a character miss the man...
Fantastique . Quel artiste !!
just great!!
Great music from a legand
Thanx a bunch for this!
The keyboard work is fantastic, the tempo a tad slower than Jerry's normal speed, but that works just fine here. One of his best and I can't believe they didn't release it. Thank God for people like Paul!
He gives this a thorough treatment! This was before the 12 inch single 🤣🤣 We need to release it! Think about it, Little Richard ❗😅🎹🎹💜
@@PaulGaston88 I just can't believe some of these gems went unreleased!
@Johnny NotEnglish After word of Jerry's marriage got out, it suddenly became impossible to get any of his new Sun releases. I was 14 and had to send away to a place called Select-O-Hits in Memphis to get any of his records. It's possible most of the Sun material has been released, but what about outtakes from Smash, Electra, etc?
@Johnny NotEnglish Jerry's fan club president mentioned it to me when I told her I was having trouble finding Jerry's records. I just googled it and was surprised to find it still exists...a giant music distributor in Memphis. It was certainly a life saver when I was a kid and couldn't find any of Jerry's releases back in the early sixties. Don't know what it's like now.
He was fantastic!
Wow love it
I am crazy for this song
Great song
only the killer
Grande makina!!!!!!!!!
Welcome! 🔥

Fantastic thank you
Funky and very Blusey JLL OWN THIS.

Jerry Lee Lewis is the best ever
wie immer, 1001,1 %
Epoustouflant final
Paul, do you think there's anyone who would even know how many songs, Jerry lee did record?!!!
I have no idea, but there's someone who knows. I will have to ask around. I have some basic facts I will post when I find them. Thank you for listening! 🎧💜
It taste whiskey 🥃!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
My uploads to youtube are automatically posted here, but I wanted to note on this one that it is almost NINE minutes long and WTF were they thinking when they didn't release so many of these outtakes at Mercury and Elektra, not to mention Smash and Sun??
Jerry was great the best and sexy as hell
Conhecia essa música na versão do John Lennon. Com o Jerry Lee Lewis, pra mim é novidade. Ficou muito boa.
JUST GREAT!! THANKS FOR POSTING
Thanks you for these informations, i thougt it was Little Richard Penniman, vho Witten. The version is relaxing and the hands of Jerry, effectively slid well.
Prima JLL😊
The London Sessions. Seems like he’d been havin a few, put him in great state to slip and slide. The Seesions is his best apart from Last Man Standing
This wasn't from the London Sessions. This was after that. This was recorded in December 1975 in Nashville.
No, not from there. Recorded Dec. 1975 in Nashville
PAUL, THEY TALK ABOUT JERRY AND MYRA HER SO YOUNG. THERE WAS LOVE, THAT'S WHY HE AND HER STAYED MARRIED FOR 13YRS!!!
The one thing Jerry Lee wanted the world to forget was his marriage to Myra. It nearly ended his career. His last marriage to Judith was a loving one just short of 13 years too. But Jerry Lee had a great life!
@@PaulGaston88 THE BEST Years FOR JERRY LEE WAS THE MIDDLE OF THE SEVENTIES AND THE EIGHTES FOR SURE!!!
@@MichaelBickley-nn7xt He was with Kerrie and I think it lasted just over 20 years and I believe his last wife Judith who he married 2012 loved him the most.. She is such a nice woman. I'm glad to see you here. I worried about you because I haven't seen you. But I didn't put up a lot of music.. peace and love always 🎹🎹💜
Who’s the Bobby on acoustic piano? Some balls to play alongside JLL ( when he’s not a cousin)
How'd you know it was a Bobby? 😆 Bobby R. Wood was playing on this session in December 1975 in Nashville. Kenny Lovelace was on fiddle.
@Johnny NotEnglish read my reply above.
Better than Little Richard. Better than anyTHING by anyBODY.
+Rick Marschall trés bon mais pour être meilleur que Little Richard,c'est pas qu'il faut se lever de bonne heure,il faut même pas se coucher
Jerry Lee Lewis is my 6th favorite singer.
What does that mean?
"Very good but bla bla bla Little Richard, he is bla bla bla, memes bla bla bla. " There you go.
The original version is called: "I got the blues for you" from Al Collins (1955) with Eddie Bo on piano! See: ruclips.net/video/WGcS6dLW2BY/видео.html Eddie bo recorded it in 1956 as I'm wise.
Sorry bout the hope misspelled!!!
Is this his original?
This was not recorded by him in the beginning at Sun Records. This wasn't even released on Mercury when he recorded it. Little Richard recorded it at Specialty, but he didn't write it. I just read about this a few months ago, but my 58 year old brain ... lol. I'll put it below...
Buddy Holly was the first to record this but Jerry does an amazing job as if it's his very own - which of course it is. What a shame there's so much unreleased material that could be opened up.
Should have been released. They could have faded it out about 6 min mark.
So damn he was 65 or so when he recorded this?!!!
No, he would have been about 40. Apparently this was recorded in late 1975, and Jerry Lee was born in '35.
