OMG First Cabin. I stayed in their Kyoto branch and got the same room type that you used back in 2015. So much memories. I also had an early flight when I stayed there and I was not allowed to use the alarm also. The staff said they will wake me up. Fast forward to early morning, somehow I woke up 5 minutes before time, took time to wake my self up and a few minutes later saw tiny hands below my door with waving motion whispering "Please wake up, hello, please wake up.". I guess they were hoping that I can see their hand movements mid sleep, it was adorable really. I thanked the staff and sounds like he was glad that I was awake and, probably, didn't need to get inside the room to wake me.

Staying at a capsule hotel is very much on the "to do" list if I ever visit Japan. As a rather big person I think the smallest capsules might feel a bit to claustrophobic but at the same time, the largest ones, that seems more like a small room than a capsule almost feel like cheating if you're after the capsule hotel experience. For me, the first hotel seems like the perfect mix of actually feeling like a capsule hotel but still providing a decent amount of space.

Up to now I have viewed capsule hotels as primarily functional, to be used only in times of urgency (like when the last train has gone) 😅.
Didn't realize that capsule hotels have evolved their own sub-culture - Book & Bed Shinjuku, and Manga Art Hotel both seem fun places to try. Thanks @seerasan !
One capsule hotel that you may like to visit is Sora-no-Yu, an onsen (hot spring) hotel with additional ganban-yoku (stone bed sauna) facilities. Located right next to Narita Airport, it offers shuttle bus service to and from the airport. Perfect for when you have an early-morning flight the next day, or if you've arrived in Narita late and need some rest before traveling on to Tokyo.

omg at least i’m not the only super deep sleeper this reminds me if i ever capsule somewhere not to do it before a flight. i slept through my flight back from london the morning after staying in paris and i would be so anxious to repeat that. i do have a vibrating alarm clock at home to wake me up but it vibrates the entire bed because it’s under the mattress. • @janusu

Sarah's ASMR voice 😍. Another fun experience! How close would you say any of these are to a standard capsule hotel experience? Like where a salaryman (or woman) just needs to get some shuteye because he missed the last train home. That would be useful to show, too, I think.
And folks, I recommend doing a little research before going to one. I just kind of winged it in Tokyo years ago thinking the experience would be pretty much the same in all of them and the first one I found was an absolute dive. Like, they had the old-style Japanese toilets in the bathroom and basically just bunk beds in a large communal room. As I had lived in Japan a couple years by that point, I might have managed on my own, but my American friend who came for a vacation and was traveling with me was not having that. Fair enough. We ended up finding a western style hotel that night that had a room available instead.
I took the 'wing-it' approach in Nagoya once, as well, but that time things turned out okay. The capsules were nice and there was an izakaya in the common area where I could get a bite and a drink. There was also a massage therapy room where I was also able to get a professional massage for my sore muscles before going to bed. That place was called WellBe, if I recall. This was about 20 years ago, so I have no idea if it's still there. I went there several times because I had season tickets to the Aichi World Expo back in 2005.
Now I'm going to watch Alyssa's video. Thanks! Bye 🙂

The first 2 nights of my 3 week Japan trip I stayed at the 9H in Suidobashi. Loved how cheap it was and the layout of the building but man I just couldn't get comfortable on their futons. I don't know if all capsule hotels are that uncomfortable or not but I felt like I was switching sides every 30 min. I'm also a big fan of sleeping with a fan on and I thought the 9H pod was kinda stuffy. Would love to try other capsule hotels in the future, Maybe ones that are a little pricier.

9h had larger sized lockers on another floor (not for suitcases), but generally most of the other capsules have a space underneath your bed to leave your suitcase. For any smaller valuables, you can store it inside your room with the safe. I don't think I've ever stayed at a capsule hotel with a proper locker for your suitcase, the best I've seen (another place not in this vid) is they give out a bike lock and you can secure it that way.

I am Korean, Can anyone tell me why she said “I am going to bed” when she is already on the bed?

It is just a casual way of saying I am going to sleep now. The word bed and sleep gets switched around a lot.

Spent my first couple of days in Japan in 9H. Really nice. Only bad thing was having to wakeup and stay out of the pod from 9am til 13h, after a jetlagged night out 😂

Don't you use your Apple Watch to wake up? The vibration on the arm easily gets me awake. And there's no sound needed.
