Actually Pirate era perception is globally incorrect. We think they walked around dressed with eye patches, and rags for clothes, saying arrrrrrr.....that was not actually how they looked at all. Hollywood has given a very historically incorrect depiction of the pirate era. They dressed in all sorts of fashions, and they were naval experts. They dressed for the job just how we do. Many were criminals, some were mercanaries, some were explorers, but all of them had the same goal, make a profit.

They should have just made a pirate focused spin off of black flag. Leave out the assassin's and just be a full pirare exploration game with boarding amd fleet management
That what this game was initially pitched as, but as development began to drag on and Assassin's Creed moved on from naval gameplay, they detached this game from the AC franchise. When it was first announced, it was supposed to be the GTA Online version of Black Flag

This game really doesn’t look bad but at the same time it’s missing a lot like actual sword fighting and the ability to do more off boat like actually boarding a ship without it just being a cutscene
That's no the point of the game though, much like how war thunder is about vehicle combat not infantry combat.

How do you not have boarding or non-ship combat? Literally made 40% of a game. How they had so much feedback and were too lazy to steer directions a bit is mind boggling

It's because this a multiplayer game with micro transactions. The singleplayer campaign was tacked on as an afterthought They probably didn't want to deal with someone complaining that their $20 ship got boarded and plundered while they were on the toilet. This isn't the game for AC4 fans.
i'm incredibly sorry to the team who took however long to make this. I'm sure it cost them a lot of time and effort, but this just makes me want to black flag so bad. ACBF really was light years ahead of it's time with the level of immersion.

@leaf16nut call of duty does have vehicles though? Lmao. After complaints they added modes with the features due to people wanting that. Few call of duties had 32v32 w tanks helis, AA ETC. all due to feedback.

It truly is impressive just HOW much Ubisoft f***ed this up...I mean, Black Flack is one of my favorite games, so on paper this should be right up my alley, but it just looks so bland and boring.
People don't want a multiplayer ONLY pirate game. We want a sprawling non-Assassin's single player pirate game where we sail the seas, disembark the ship onto uncharted land, search for treasure, get into some fights, board a ship, raid, pillage and plunder said ship in hand to hand combat and amass a fleet of ships at our command...maybe some multiplayer on the side as a distraction.
It's remarkable how easy of an idea this all is, and yet Ubisoft were like "Let's spend ten years making this and give the people the bare minimum effort"...here's hoping we get a REAL pirate game down the line, preferably from a developer that actually deserves success.

This game looks very interesting! Looks polished and like quite a bit to do, but agree with some of the comments about possible lack of hand to hand combat or boarding other ships (at least in this trailer).
If there is a DLC that focusses gameplay which is 90% on land.
