Personally, Minions is what ruined this franchise. I hate them. At least the 2nd movie did something cool with them? But other than that one instance, I dislike the Minions. But Gru and his daughter are why I watch the movies and enjoy them so much.
Honestly I think Illumination knocked it put of the park with this being their first movie. If this was a flop then we probably wouldn’t have gotten movies like the 2018 Grinch, Sing, Migration and the Mario movie.
The first movie is actually quite good, Illumination realized that as long as they included the minions they could put in less and less effort in every subsequent movie while still making record profits is all.
@@Grant_Wolfman I had to google this because I thought you were trolling me and WHAT!!!! I can’t believe it!! THE Julie Andrew’s plays such a wicked mom WOW thanks for sharing!
Since this was basically made before they knew it would be big it's an honestly emotional story you could even say grown ups would get more out of than kids. But then they noticed the kiddies doing the funny noises the yellow tic tacs make and did what corpos do - went full on with milking it all the way, shoving more of the annoying gibberish and "wacky" slapstick to the point they got two movies and the main character is pushed to the side.
It has a heartwarming story but 100% was milked by the minions. It’s why I didn’t watch it when they were all the hype. I found them to be too annoying LOL
"Wouldn't he be falling faster because he's a big boy?" That's not how that works. Everything Falls at the same rate. The only reason why it wouldn't is because of air resistance which is negligible for the boy.
I'd recommend watching Despicable Me 2 and 4. You can watch the third one if you want, but that's definitely my least favorite of the main series. I never found the minions too annoying, so I liked the Minion films, but they might not be your thing. They definitely aren't the reasons to watch those, though. In the first one it's Scarlet Overkill, and in the second it's young Gru and his mentor.
Oh this is good to know! I do plan on watching the second one at least! Yeah it seems like you either like the minions or they annoy you like they do for me 😅
You’re the first (and only one) who has commented about that! I try to theme my recording for whatever movie I’m watching and I found that for the minions 🌝
I like slapstick, so I like the minions 😁 I mean, they have two movies of their own, and at least the first one is bloody hilarious, comedy gold. The second one is kind of a Gru origin story, and it's pretty funny as well. Despicable Me 2 and 3 are highly watchable, well, 2 a bit more than 3 perhaps, and 4 is not as bad as some people say. About the question does he want to be a villain, or does he want to be happy... well, here are my 2 cents. The moral of the story is that happy people, who feel good about themselves, and feel like they are loved and respected, rarely become villains, some angry and bitter people do. Gru wasn't evil, he just had a hard shell, that three little girls managed to crack. He really did seem to care about the minions even before that. You'll get to know him better in Despicable Me 2 and 3. The biggest villain in this movie is, without a doubt, Ms. Hattie.
Ms. Hattie WAS the villain! She was awful. But yeah, Gru just wants to be loved and give love! How heartwarming that he's now a father, and those girls have a family!
@eyesondale Yeah, she was. Gru's mother didn't seem to have a problem with him being a villain, nor did she realize she was part of the reason, she won't win any "parent of the year" awards for sure, but she did come around a bit at the end of the movie. I love Illumination, Pixar, and DreamWorks. Two of my favorite movies of all time, animated or not, are Coco by Pixar, and Puss In Boots: The Last Wish by DreamWorks. Oh, and let us not forget about the How To Train Your Dragon trilogy, with the Kung Fu Panda trilogy not far behind. I enjoyed your reaction to Despicable Me, so if you're up for some more animated movies, I'd love to watch you react to the movies I mentioned, if you haven't watched them already, that is 🙂
@Pascal-the-Rascal Oh little did you know.... more animated movies are coming!! Coco is one of my favorite movies (I cry every time) and I haven't seen Puss in Boots... at least not yet 😉 Thank you so much for your kind words and your support!
@@eyesondale Oh, cool 😁 Puss In Boots is one of those rare cases when no. 2, The Last Wish, is better than the first one. If you have seen the Shrek movies, you might remember Puss from Shrek 2, a movie that really shows that movies aren't necessarily for kids just because they are animated, it's full of "adult humor" and references kids won't get. I wish people would stop seeing these kinds of animated movies as kids movies that are somewhat enjoyable for adults, when in reality it's the other way around. Animated action comedies I'd rather call them. By the way, have you seen the Inside Out movies? They are creative ways to describe what is going on in our minds.
@Pascal-the-RascalI haven’t seen the first puss in boots movie, but I read online that you don’t need to see it to watch the last wish. And yes, I’ve seen all the shrek movies and inside out! Love animated films!
I think the minions and the movies themselves are fine on their own. The marketing for them greatly hindered not only my enjoyment of the franchise in general, but also affected the production/advancement of the Megamind franchise. I do hope you check out the rest of the series though, it's worth a watch through at least one.
Don’t get me wrong, the minions are the comedy equivalent of getting punched in the face repeatedly. However initially it wasn’t that bad(still kinda bad) but the point was the gru and his relationship to the girls. THATS what the movie is about and that’s why people like it. The new ones? Even the new despicable me movies have it way worse, and then they made the minions into its own movie and watching it was an awful experience
the relationship between Gru and the girls was amazing! I hope they develop it more in the later movies, I know for a fact I will be watching the second one!
I still think the minions are annoying 😂- what about you?
Minions are definitely the equivalent of that generations brainrot
nah I find them to be alright. Love them in these movies' universe, but them being everywhere was kinda too much lmao

7:57 When Gru talked in spanish he said "como un Burro", in english is Donkey, so he said "your face looks like a donkey's face" to the woman xD

Milking the minions 🥛
Personally I thought the 4th one was better than than the 3rd one. Definitely could've done without the minions subplot in that one though.
Just found this channel. 😂 God bless!

Gru told Miss Hattie that her face looks like a donkey
13+ years and I still can't believe they had Julie Andrews in this movie as Gru's mom
