I am actually writing a novel and, looking at it, I am seeing an origin story of what could become a mega dungeon. It is set in the Stone Age (Age of Tribes), where magic is in its infancy and very few have it. The faction that the MC belongs to is the Beastfolk. The MC is looking to unite the Beastfolk tribes against the expanding warlike Elvari (Elves), who believe themselves to be superior to all others because of their longevity and their more advanced magics. The Elvari seek to enslave other races and have dominion over the world. The beastfolk take to the mountains, where the MC, having Earth magic, makes an alliance with the Drabolds (Dragons and Kobolds), and start to turn the mountain into a fortress. They have other problems to deal with once they start entering the deeper underground areas, meeting with the underground denizens who had never known the surface world. Some are cautious, some are hostile, some are curious and friendly. Right now I'm only on chapter two and haven't yet gotten into the first contact with the Elvari, as chapter one is more of the MC's childhood and weaving in the worldbuilding lore, and chapter two is more of the internal tribe conflict between the chieftain who is the MCs grandfather, and the MC and his brother.

Wow, your novel sounds really interesting! I love the Stone Age setting, and the relationship between the Beastfolk and Elvari sounds super intesrting too!. I love how you’re using detailed worldbuilding in your novel, i think it'll add SO much more detail.. The alliance with the Drabolds and the transformation of the mountain into a fortress is a brilliant idea too! I'd love to learn more about this wow, i could keep complimenting you haha.

My next campaign was going to be based around a school for young adventurers, and ive also been stuck to the "delicious in dungeons" idea lately. This could be the answer ive been seeking in the way of a extraplanar portal at the school used for training purposes (level 1-8)(9-and on is for seasoned adventurers or those with "hunting tags"). But although the faculty says they created the dungeon, turns out the school was built there to ensure its control and safekeeping. The dungeon itself provides enough bounty to keep people coming and it only takes enough life to sustain itself and slowly fuel the release of "x" from its confines within obvioulsy missing one crucial part that the Party can offer and no one else... Cult of "x" which would have left markings ect through out, currently live on one level undisturbed deep within, full town with farms the works and have forgotten over the centuries spent in there why their initial purpose was there. time for a piece of paper, this is great material pls keep releasing!!

Yeah this is dope, my view of mega dungeons was tainted by persona 5 samey random encounter locations with no substance. And then hugely elevated by dungeon meshi, and on reflection infinity train too.
Capturing the feeling that huge alive space, that would be awesome

I’m making a massive dwarven capitol fortress built (unknowingly) within a mountain range created by the skeleton of a dragon-god killed by another. So it’s similar to yours but the dragon is so huge that it would be too big to play in. The stronghold itself is going to be massive with an upside-down fortress above a lava lake along with other things.

@@iamplayingthis166 that’s so cool seriously! And so unique!! I really love the lava lake too! Are you going to give players the ability to cross the lake somehow? It would be so cool if you made it so they had to cross a giant lake and there’s risks and stuff omg

I’m not sure what would be on the other side but there’s definitely going to be an incredibly powerful magic item forge in the middle.

Oh I love that!!!! Any ideas yet on what?

@@BananaBreakdown I think the other side might just include tunnel systems that are part of a dragon’s lair to make the lava lake be a sort of natural divider between areas.
