After seeing Joowon’s show, the members are announced that their roles for The Nutcracker have been suddenly switched. I started to cry when Cheng Xiao cried OMG, I laughed so hard at myself for that😂😂.
I'm so invested in this show because of Jiwon. But hopefully, the producers would realise that ballet isn't just a dance. It's both an art and a sport. You don't just give people major roles in a ballet production like it's some stage play. I understand that the ballet director was trying to empower them. But still, learning ballet takes time. Going en pointe takes time. However, I just feel so proud of Jiwon. I'm pretty sure if it wasn't for her injury, she would've been a principal by now.
i know right :') it's really hard on them to practice for a few months then participate in a play already. i thought the series would be longer because i honestly love the casts so much.

Why is Cheng Xiao so good at everything?
right? Cheng Xiao got me fooled with her crying. Honestly I could believe that it came from a true place. no doubt she's exhausted on the inside somewhat. Hopefully all the swans get the proper support -- this pressure to perform especially as a ballerina is no joke and they kind of just threw themselves into it. i don't think anyone takes it lightly but on top of their already demanding schedules is an even more demanding side job.
On next episode, she cried. It's real cry..

I really love watchig this show... this only shows how being a ballerina is not a joke. I mean they dance beautifully on stage. They're like a doll and we enjoy watching it. I think they should have give Chinese doll role to the Chinese girl. Yet she got stiff doll role. Girl doesn’t even look stiff how is she supposed to act like she is stiff? I think tall woman would have been better choice.
yeah I'm confused why they switched. I thought the roles were perfect to begin with. Cheng Xiao as the Chinese doll and Seungeun as the stiff doll since she's naturally stiff -- it would've been her advantage
I just hope it's not because Cheng Xiao is quite curvy compared to the other woman. Cheng Xiao dances really gracefully, and is really flexible which is what the Chinese doll's role needed, but I guess the judges wanted someone more "skinny", if you know what I mean...
maybe they change the role because cheng xiao schedule... there's a lot of event and doesn't have much time to mastering that role.
In entertainment, there would be a possibility of controversy if Chen xiao was cast as the Chinese doll, maybe that could be a reason

I hate it every time they say someone must lose weight because I see them all and they're all very lean and look healthy. They only need to train their muscles but their weight is fine :/
She was a bit too heavy for the male dancer to lift her up. That could be dangerous since he could drop her if shes too heavy for him to carry lol. (Super late but idc, also maybe bc she didnt bend her back right idk)
@@cupid3890 It's because she didn't bend her back enough. Chengxiao is about the same weight as her, maybe a few lbs/kg heavier (like 2-5). The same thing happened with the other dancer. She didn't bend back enough and was very stiff. You can't lift something if its center of gravity is in front of the lifting/balancing point.
It’s probably because the more toned a dancer is,the heavier they are.Why?Because muscle actually more heavy than body fat

The idea of having them perform leading parts so early on was absolutely ridiculous. And then giving them stern-faced audition judges, as if it was the swans' own choice to take some of the most difficult and most prominent parts in a live performance. They were essentially forced to do it if they want to remain on the show instead of bailing out and potentially causing even further embarrassment for themselves. It is obviously meant to create drama, at the expense of the swans' welfare. I hate it. Thumbs down.

I know right! I felt so bad for yoonah when she had her mental breakdown at her first rehearsal. Must be so annoying when your brain does not listen since all the stress blocked it.
Also they all actually have their own original profession, which with this whole ballet thing happening, still goes on and they have schedule for it. With such little time to practice and with that amount of audition pressure, it is just beyond ridiculous.
I agree, they have to perform in only 2 months of practice. It’s difficult to do so even with a professional ballerina let alone someone who knows nothing about ballet. What’s more difficult is that the pressure they feel when they have to perform in such a big performance. The show is great but it is too short for the casts to develop their skill. Even for Ji-Won I still think it’s too rush for her. They should have let them practice more but I guess it’s all about timing obviously they don’t have half a year for the show so they have to rush.
Anh Ho lol i somehow got the feeling that the staffs probably thought this is just variety and yeh they have to do challenges but it's all good it's doable and probably didnt really think much about how kim joowon will takes this super seriously (since, well you need to tho lol) and boom. Poor swans :c
Yes i think it was too fast and thight schedule for them as they re not a profesional routine ballet that always perform , poor them.., feel their sadness unnies please dont force yourself ....all matter is healthy and happy ...we re already appreciate to see you all on this show

Don’t most ballerinas retire in their late 20’s or early 30’s,I’m not a dancer so I don’t know for sure but I’ve always loved the art and have been in theater for many years.Honestly watching this makes me miss acting (I haven’t acted in a few years) I think I will look into some acting classes so I can get back into it.I miss rehearsal,especially dress rehearsal

gosh gosh gosh... I thought that when the said December the meant December 2018 and not December 2017....my brain is gonna explode. they had like four and a half episodes of practice and now they are in rehearsals. I thought the series was going to be much longer.

I'm sorry I love everyone on this show but this is getting a bit ridiculous. The girls who have better dance skills aren't getting the same level of treatment as the girls who aren't as good and it frustrates me to no end that every time there is a really good role for a girl that is higher dance skill they change it and then every time they want to do a little challenge a girl who's not as good wins so they feel that they are good as well(they are good for beginners) deserve something good and when they are told that maybe the part won't work for you. They get upset. I'm just really confused right now. Ahhhh maybe I'm not making any sense or maybe I'm confused and so one can better explain everything but it's really getting confusing and annoying especially chen getting that stiff doll role knowing she should be the Chinese doll (sorry for no punctuation just fustrated and yes im still gonna watch the show)

You do realize it’s about giving them a chance to improve and giving them a challenge to face because the teacher knows their abilities. The show won’t be as exciting to watch if everyone had it easy. The teacher gave them their roles for a reason.
Gabriella I - I agree about Jumi, she is a good dancer but technically is not up with the other swans. Another reason why she got the opening act is partly because in terms of showing emotion and character in her part of the show is the best out of the swans. And the opening number needed someone who can show a very mature and very graceful portrayal. Jumi was the perfect fit for her character

Y'all complaining about how this ia too much for them, I understand, it is too much for them. But this also shows the real world of ballerinas. It's not all roses, this is their reality.
people think it is too much because most of them are still beginners except for Jiwon. for them to audition for major roles in a play when they only started in just a few months where ballerinas and ballerinos learned the art for years for them to get the roles. their foundations are still not strong, thus make them prone to injuries (some even started to wear pointe shoes when they shouldn't yet and that scares a lot of people, what if something bad happen) and also less possible to actually get the roles irl. if only the program is a lot longer and they have more time to strengthen their foundation instead of progressing too quickly, people might be okay with it.
In the real world of ballerinas, they would practice 10 years before even auditioning for a company and then they would dance in the corps (the group dances) first before they get a chance to have a solo. No real ballerina would be thrown in at the deep end like this.
I thought this show was about giving the women a chance to be as good as they can be as dancers without having a lot of pressure on them or injuring themselves, but I guess that is too boring for the average viewer. It started as something that they can be proud of and have fun with, just a positive experience. But now they need to audition for roles that they are not even ready for, get constantly told they are too fat, even though they are already loosing weight and are in no way overweight, and get told they just need to keep up with the time schedule without listening to their bodies. The former ballet dancer had to give up her career because she got injured and now she is told she needs to progress as quick as possible, helloo, this is how injuries happen... At the beginning of the show she said she needed a positive closure with ballet because she was ripped out of her world by her injury, but instead of giving her a positive experience they put her under the same pressure she was under when she had her negative experiences. This show really had the chance to show ballet in a positive light and show that there can be a healthy way to do it, a lot of viewers liked that approach, but I guess they would rather be an average game show with silly challenges.
Also I don't like how they laugh at most of the performances instead of helping them to progress and show every failure three times. They all take this very seriously and the show makes clowns out of them. Well, one of them is exempt from ridicule, the women that they introduced twice and almost made a commercial for her out of her appearing on the show, the one they never show making any mistakes. I guess the producer likes her.

It's really not about being muscular or not. The ballerina has to help a lot and in this case no one really told them what to do. The dancers are doing an amazing job since this could definitely hurt them badly.

Tbh a lot of nutcracker ballets are pretty racist lol. They're a product of the time they were created in. Like the Chinese dance isn't really Chinese and the Arabian dance isn't really Arabian, they're mostly caricatures and racist stereotypes. Kinda like how a disney's Aladdin is technically Arabian but also has some Indian influence as well
Yoonah is being a bit too harsh. Like, I get that you're frustrated that you're not able to memorize a lot of choreography. But don't just complain about it.. the role you got was just fine for you. If she got the actual Arabian doll role she would've died.
Also, the 40 year old girl wrote down the movements, she tried to memorize the choreography she had as much as she could, and she has a bigger schedule than you. She has to go abroad.
What I'm trying to say is, if you're given an opportunity to shine in a big role. (A role you don't normally give out to beginners and or ameteurs) do everything you can do shine with that role, don't just complain. Write shit down, make up a song for it, keep repeating the move over and over again. Just don't give up..
Also, I don't like how the show is making the idea that pointe shoes, lead roles, and just not going over the basics and techniques are totally fine. Ballet is not meant to be mastered in 5 months. You get pointe shoes when you're at least 5 years of experience. You don't all the time get lead roles to performances. And don't ever not go over the basics and techniques.
This show will inspire others to try out ballet sure, but once they realize that it's not all "fun and dandy" like the show made it out to be. It's gonna be disappointing.
This is why i hate crap shows like this. The initial idea is good, but when ratings aren't good enough they start to force in tears and drama cause that's what female viewers like. I just lose all interest.
I'll continue to watch for Cheng Xiao cuts, but mainly this is becoming more and more bs.
