Yes the cashier is slow but at the moment there is no penalty for customers who are waiting, they will just move around the store until a place in the queue opens up. It might change a later date but right now, I wouldn't worry about it. Great episode.

      Thanks. I didn't know that and I panicked 😁

You are playing an older version. They fixed some NPC pathing bugs, but they also added another level of multi-tasking - you need to keep the store clean, and it's not an option you can turn off. It doesn't seem to be any employee's function to clean, either. If you have Steam's auto updates turned off just be aware that updating will add this extra chaos.
*There's a couple of ways to play the first level:*
    1. Hire a cashier and handle all the restocking yourself. I *had no idea* you could boost the cashier's speed!
    2. Hire a stocker and run the cash register yourself. Order what you need for the day making sure you have enough storage shelves. The stocker will pick up boxes from the street; put them in storage or on the store shelves. He will NOT put a box on the floor so he CAN get stuck if he's carrying a box half full with product if there is no available shelf. It happens mostly if you over order a product, he stocks a store shelf from a box from the street, has product remaining in the box and there is no more room in storage. He will also pick up and throw away empty boxes you may have thrown on the floor or street. Saving empty boxes for shifting products around is almost impossible now unless you throw them across the street, but the update includes a crate in your carry tools for this.
    3. Sell the cash register and buy a self checkout (or two). It runs at the same speed as the cashier, and I don't know if it can also be boosted (my guess is no) but it's a one time cost. Costumers will occasionally need assistance - another layer of multi-tasking but it's not too often.

Great advice as always. The next video takes a different approach. Also, these vids were made awhile ago so I can take a break during the holidays. The next one uses the latest updates.
