The Future of My 125g Vivarium

  • Hey everyone! In this vlog I finally tell you guys about what I'm going to do in a few days. This is not something that I planned for and it actually wasn't intended to be the focus of the video. Then about half way in... I started scheming some ideas and had to share!
I know some of you won't like the fact that the 125g is being transferred, but its time has come and it's for the better. As I said, it's just not enjoyable for me and I would like to feature it more, but it's nearly impossible, in its current state. Also, I think that the 125g will be better suited for Whodini long term.
Additionally, I've got big plans coming up for some of my other animals (the 40g rack). Now you know about the rack, but I won't tell you about what kind of setups I'm going to do. All that I will say is they they're going to be one-of-a-kind enclosures! Don't worry I will do a full blown tutorial for each one.
As mentioned, here's a video that explains a little bit about how I built the stand earlier in the video. I made some modifications on my end to make it stronger, but you get the idea. It's basically three frames, fours posts, a few supporting boards and a lot of screws.
    • HOW TO: build an aquar...
At the time I didn't want to make a video on it because of time constraints. However, at some point I will need to make some more of these. If you guys would like to see me do a tutorial at that time, I most definitely can! Just comment about it below.
Anyways I think I've said enough! Wait maybe I should say one more thing... I do upload these vlogs occasionally, but I don't want any of you to think that I'm going to step down from making tutorials or that this is what my content will become. Tutorials are my BNB and I love making them. Just like my life, I keep it diverse. My content is no exception. I will keep it varied.
For additional content like this, projects sneak peeks and more, follow me on Instagram @SerpaDesign.

Hey, just wanted to congratulate you on your channel.
I've spend the last couple of days watching most of your videos. Really liking them all.
You already excited me to try and make my own native terrarium, found a perfect glas jar for it already and will be talking a walk through some local forests to find some materials this week.
    Keep up the great work.

Dude your videos are amazing! not just because of your professional production. You are the ideal herp keeper, because you aren't gonna settle for less than the best for your animals. Not only do you make their cages healthy and naturalistic, you make them gorgeous. It takes tremendous talent to do what you do from scratch! Keep them coming and educating!

Deans tank leaked because the gasket/ o-ring was on the wrong side. The seal has to be between the bulkhead and the tank, not between the nut and the tank. When placed between the nut and tank water will work it's way down the threads.

    Great video.
I have a solution to the drain issue...
To efficiently evacuate the water from your enclosure make your drainage compartment sloped to one corner and run plastic tubing
Flush with that bottom corner; also any protrusion above being flush will cause sitting water.. you may have already thought of this but hope this can add some value to your builds as your videos have to my vivariam endeavours..
    Peace

Now I've taken an interest in your videos over the past few days, but of course to create my own terrarium would like to use the cheapest possible method. I can make my own charcoal and have available large ecosystems in the surrounding area in which I can obtain samples of nontracheophytes, preferably mosses and liverworts, however, I live in Florida and the local soil is made dominantly of sand. Can I sustain an enclosed ecosystem with this sand soil?

Would this racking system work for aquariums? I can only assume you have written down the measurements for this rack. Please share length and width of boards you used. And how to compensate for the weight of they were aquariums. Maybe a future video?

    • @SerpaDesign
      @SerpaDesign  6 лет назад

It would work for aquariums, but I did not keep the measurements. They're dependent on the size of the tanks anyways. I left some information about it in the video description.

Hi, I've got a question, and you might be able to help me:
I made the bioactive substrate you always make, but after a week, it dries out. I spray the enclosure twice a day, and I spray the substrate heavily, also twice a day. Once it dries, the coconut fiber and sand fall down, and the bark and sphagnum stay on top. Do you have any recommendations to avoid that? Maybe adding something to the substrate? Could it be the false bottom? It's made from gravel, and about an inch deep.

Tanny B if you use fishing wire, you’d have to take the wire out around a week after you tied it. I recommend using sewing thread, because it will naturally break down.
