    Just bought a slider bar for foiling, and it's the first vid I've seen to show the chicken loop on the slider (I wanted to check!). Thanks for that!

    The rope is made out of what looks like 4mm dyneema. Breaking strength is over 3,000 pounds. It's probably stronger than the steel hook on a standard spreader bar.

    • @FlukesKitesurfing
      @FlukesKitesurfing  4 года назад

      yeah strong stuff for sure. I've been using ropes for a couple of years now wit no real issues. That said they do wear and ive replaced maybe 4 ropes. so for strength, its not so much the breaking strength of new rope, its 6 months in when its worn that might be an issue if you don't maintain it :)

    The best addition to the ride engine is an anatal ring. The chicken loop goes around it perfectly. Zero wear on the rope and chicken loop. Buttery smooth as well

    • @OpenMTBMap
      @OpenMTBMap 2 года назад

      You will need a shorter than standard chicken loop however, else it may not stick around. Yeah best solution antal 20x14 anti friction ring and XS sized chicken loop like on kite attitude AKA3. The short freeride chicken loops from various brands work too. Standard freestyle loops not so well (or only by making the rope super tight)

      @@OpenMTBMap I’ve been using a blade uni bar v3 with a standard loop for years. Works perfectly. In fact the slider rope on my harness is still original as the anatal ring stops any wear at all.

    • @OpenMTBMap
      @OpenMTBMap 2 года назад

      @@BurtReynoldstash some chicken loops drop out when depowered. Plus the shorter the loop the more depower throw you have. I really like the XS option on the AKA3. It just fits around the antal ring and back in the lock position. It's even shorter than the duotone rope harness loop and I guess the duotone metal piece still causes some wear?

      What is an anatal ring? Not a native speaker...

    • @BurtReynoldstash
      @BurtReynoldstash Год назад

      @@hansgans658 it’s a piece of frictionless sailing chandlery. Pop it on the ride engine rope and it slides along without wearing your chicken loop away.

    you could probably attach a snap carabiner for climbing in the rope. That way you could just snap the chicken loop in place without opening it? Just my guess...

    • @FlukesKitesurfing
      @FlukesKitesurfing  4 года назад +1

      Hey Son, yeah, what we ended up actually doing and what we do and recommend now. we use an old leash as they have the perfect small carabiners and we connect the anchor rope in front of the chickenlopp on the centre line. this allows you to undo and reconnect the chickenloop. Thanks for the suggestion and great to be on the same page :)

    I've had 3 of these bars fail in the exact same place. I reached out to RE myself and didn't get any response back. I also went through the shop where I bought the harness and still nothing. I've spent way too much money on this harness to get zero customer service. I'm now riding an ion waist harness with sliding bar and very happy.

      Oh really! ive not had that issue personally. where did it fail? the rope break? but glad you found something that works for you.

    The rope lasted a year and finally snapped. I replaced it with nylon from the hardware store which broke stranding me 150 yards offshore at waddel creek Beach CA. When the sun was going down. I was kind of shitting my pants. I replaced it with a steel cable which lasted a couple rounds but started fraying. Point is, the rope used on these bars is super strong. 15 times stronger than steel apparently. Use the recommended rope and nothing else.

      Hey William, holy mate lol! quite the saga. yeah the rope is seriously strong. a cool test you did regardless of the outcome haha! and yeah gotta keep an eye on the rope condition for sure! I find its easy enough to replace the rope from a sailing or kite shop.. and then swap them as soon as they show any significant wear :)

    I love your vids, congrats... Any suggestion on the length of the rope? I have noticed that a shorter rope keeps your bar closer to you but the chicken loop slides super quickly from side to side. A longer rope amplifies freedom but the chicken loop and your bar are far away, it is like if your arms are shorter! I cannot decide what is the better option.

    • @FlukesKitesurfing
      @FlukesKitesurfing  4 года назад +2

      Awesome thanks mate. Yeah for the rope, your observation is correct, what i've found, and how i like to do it, is make it pretty much tight on the spreader bar when tying the knots . This will seem tight at the start, but the rope will stretch out a bit and then it will be the perfect length. The length in this video for me is a bit to long. I'd have it typically a bit shorter. Hope that helps

    Could you use a carabiner to attach the chicken loop to that would make it easier to un hook?

  • @bvnj123
    @bvnj123 4 года назад

    Is it possible to use some sort of a carabiner to connect the chicken loop to the rope so you don't have to open the chicken loop every time?

  • @carlosdemosteyrin314

    Can you also jump high with this harnes? I mean it looks as if the rope could break if you hang from it too much..

    • @FlukesKitesurfing
      @FlukesKitesurfing  9 месяцев назад

      they are pretty strong, easily strong enough to jump with, and in some cases stronger than the steel hook, however you just need to make sure you check for wear, its only once the rope has started to wear that you are at risk of it breaking.

  • @SVEstrellita510b

    For the self landing with an anchor, can you attach the carabiner or whatever to the chicken loop and then just take off the harness and go to the kite?

    • @FlukesKitesurfing
      @FlukesKitesurfing  7 лет назад +2

      Hey Team Giddyup, yeah, I guess you could for landing but not launching. Have you tried it? I was actually also thinking you could use a smaller Carabiner that attached in front (kiteward) of the chickenloop safety release. This would hold the kite above the chickenlopp and allow to play around with the safety mechanism... but it could still apply to much pressure down to be able to release and reconnect... I will have to give it a go and see if it works. Anyway, thanks for the comment! :)

    • @SVEstrellita510b
      @SVEstrellita510b 7 лет назад +2

      I've now tried both - launch and land. When I launch, I connect my leash to the kite, the bar to my harness (but the harness not on me), and the bar to the biner, then bring the kite out and come back and, with the biner still taking the force, strap on my harness. When I land, I attach the biner to the chicken loop, and then take off my harness.

    • @liiiinder
      @liiiinder 6 лет назад

      Wouldnt it be possible to attach a carabiner between the frontlines over the trimming when you selflaunch? then the kite would still sit still without the chickenloop is used. And one think, I saw you had your leash on the sliding rope aswell... Is it that rope so bulletproof? I mean, they sell spares and if that shit breaks when you're out then the leash and chickenloop is gone along with the kite :/

      i think there is a hook that you can attach to the rope made by dakine, so the whole hook slides on the rope. But it is a windsurfing hook.

    • @FlukesKitesurfing

      Hey Tom, thats right, you do not use it on rope harness because the chickenloop cant fall off the hook. Its fully connected around the rope.

    • @FlukesKitesurfing
      @FlukesKitesurfing  6 лет назад

      Hey, yeah, I think it is for sure, the best thing to do is a get a harness that you can swap out the spreader bar. I have both a hook and rope that I can change easily, so for instance, if you want to do any unhooking, self launching with an anchor, or even powered loops, I prefer to put on the hook. Then for free riding and waves, definitely the rope
