Thank you for saving me cash with this video. It was exactly the same thing. Now I just need to find the harness that no dealer's in the U.S carry anymore.
I knew that I knew what to adjust but didn't want to damage the cover while taking it off. Your video? Very big help, now I subscribe because of your "attention to detail".. thx.
Ok, I got the old switch out, didn't seem to be damaged, reconnected the switch, and every time I worked it by hand things would work as they are supposed to. While trying to put the old switch back in I damaged it, as it was difficult to get it back in place. Any help?
Thank you for the education about the latch mechanism! The how to diagnose and finding the broken part and the part number for the replacement is spot on!!!
I pushed the latch to the maximum adjustment but still wouldn’t grab without help from inside. Wrapped electrical tape around the handle itself and that did the trick. Once the rubber wears off on the latch, it does not want to grab
Thank you for this! Just got a 2004 Liberty with this problem. A quick google search turned up your video, with both a work-around and a fix. Subscribed now. Keep up the good work.
Hi could you answer my question?. I wanted to order the Wiring Jumper from ebay, but they only have it for Jeep 04-07. When I select 2002 Jeep liberty I can see the info "This part is not compatible with 2002 Jeep Liberty". Do you think it will be compatible anyway? The part number is the same.
I had the same issue with mine being an 03. I looked at the picture of the jumper and it looked the same. So I ordered it and it was exactly the same. Can’t say whether it’s the same on the 02 but eBay is usually good with returns if it ends up not working.
Great video. My rear glass would pop open randomly. I found this video and checked the switch. Mine was rotted and split open just like yours causing a false signal. Thanks!
So I’m having to replace the actual locking mechanism for the window. Are parts for 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty interchangeable? I can’t find a clear answer on google. I have a 2006 and I found a part labeled for 2002
thank you! exactly what I needed to see! (except I have the opposite problem, also very common apparently, of that microswitch freaking out and randomly opening the back window thanks to corrosion and humidity - either way, same fix.)
Can you post a picture of how the micro switch looks when it is put into it's correct place before putting the metal clasp on to hold it in place? I cannot get it to work, so I must have it in wrong. Thanks
Thanks so much! My 03 Liberty suddenly would not latch the back window. Now I can latch it until I can further diagnose the issue. And I was able to do it with out the hubbys help!! (He doesn’t like my Jeep)
Nice to see some trouble shooting and not just a parts replacement! My problem it the rear window will not stay latched. The clasp works and latches fine, but the window will not stay closed😡
I've had this problem on my '06 Renegade for years. I suspected it was the handle switch because the latch still disengages with the key FOB. Now I don't have to guess before I pull the panel off and I know what part to order before I do. Huge time saver! Thank you! Question: Is your wive's KJ lifted? I just moved to Sedona, AZ so I'm fixing things I've been putting off and shopping for lift kits and tires.
Glad I could help! Yes it is lifted, it’s a 2.5” rough country spacer lift I believe. The lift was done before we bought it, but that’s what the previous owner told us. Tires are 245/70/16 Goodyear Duratrac
Need help. Installed a new wiring harness but nothing is physically triggering the microswitch. It is exactly identical to the old one. Not sure whats wrong.
Hello friend I have this problem with my jeep, the only thing that my Jeep Liberty sport 4x4 is from 2002 and the part is discontinued by the factory. How could you help me with an idea or advice that you have?
Great video, I fixed the same problem in '06 Liberty with your help, pretty easy to do and saved some cash! Great idea of putting the part # right on screen too! Thank you
I tested it so shown. The switch activated and released. I replaced the wire assembly. The same problem still exists! My key fob activates it, but not the unlock button inside the vehicle. It may be possible I didn't seat the switch on the wire assembly properly, as it was difficult to access the location.
Yeah I was about to go out and buy a new part I was out of ideas but ill give this a shot also my motor for my wiper blade is broken off where the shift goes into the gear but its all good I keep telling my self its a jeep thing ;-)
I've got a similar problem with my 2003 jeep liberty sport. If you remember messing with the latch itself, it has this trigger that when pushed up the latch should press in meaning the window is closed, when it's pressed down it will release the window. My problem is that the switch is not clicking into place when the window is meant to be shut, as it almost feels like the hook on the window cannot reach back far enough for the latch switch to depress to lock it into place once that hook has gone back far enough. Only it does appear to at least look like that hook on the window is going back far enough, but that lever switch just does not want to click into place to shut the window. Do you know if I have to replace the whole window locking mechanism or can it be just a simple easy fix like you showed here? I don't want to mess with anything without knowing more information.
Hmmm. It’s a Mopar part number that I used. Weird that they couldn’t cross reference it. I ordered mine off Mopar Parts Giant. Some call it a “jumper harness” as well.
Wooo!! Manitoba represent!! Is there a way to just pull the latch forward so that glass hatchback locks into place? When I try to close the glass it doesn't want to lock into place.
Yeaaa MB fam! I’ve never tried adjusting the latch, but I would assume it would be adjustable where it’s bolted to the tailgate. Definitely worth a try.
If there is no power to anything in the hatch it could be a fuse. First thing I would check anyway. If all is good then I would investigate the hatch wiring harnesses with a multimeter to see what’s not getting power.
Thank you for your amazingly clear how-to video. Now if only I can figure out why my 2002 jeep liberty tailgate latch keeps clicking when the car is locked. You've given me a starting place for my problem.
Good video but unfortunately this was not the issue and I think I need to order the latch. Would have been helpful if you had continued with the latch replacement!
Thank you for saving me cash with this video. It was exactly the same thing. Now I just need to find the harness that no dealer's in the U.S carry anymore.
The problem my 2005 Jeep Liberty has is that the trunk lock doesn't want to lock, what can I do to get it to lock again?
Where do I find the replacement clip mine fell down and I can’t get it
Great video!
The GLASS light stays on even though the trunk window is closed. Is the problem with the latch?
I knew that I knew what to adjust but didn't want to damage the cover while taking it off. Your video? Very big help, now I subscribe because of your "attention to detail".. thx.
Can you show which way the microchip end goes in door handle and how the clamp goes securely?
Thank you! My 2002 Jeep Liberty had this same problem. I appreciate your help. 😎👍
First and only person so be helpful
As a college student I can’t afford to be dropping new parts so thank you.
Is another symptom of the faulty switch an inability to shut the window as well?
Ok, I got the old switch out, didn't seem to be damaged, reconnected the switch, and every time I worked it by hand things would work as they are supposed to. While trying to put the old switch back in I damaged it, as it was difficult to get it back in place. Any help?
Thank you for the education about the latch mechanism! The how to diagnose and finding the broken part and the part number for the replacement is spot on!!!
Glad I watched this before I ordered a new latch lol thanks and great video
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching
I pushed the latch to the maximum adjustment but still wouldn’t grab without help from inside. Wrapped electrical tape around the handle itself and that did the trick. Once the rubber wears off on the latch, it does not want to grab
Ya that works! I had to do the same thing on my civic hatch latch. Working good so far
I wonder if painting on some plasti-dip could be a more permanent solution to electrical tape?

Thank you for your video and for the part reference, I just repaired my 2003 Jeep KJ thanks to you! 👍😁
The problem I'm having is not that the glass will not release, but that it will not latch.
I'm having that same issue. Did you find a fix for it?
You're easy to follow as well as showing the steps from each step of fixing the latch.❤
Excellent, You have saved me a trip to the shop. Thanks Again.

Great video. My Jeep has the dongle flipped. It's like the mirror image so the new part doesn't fit! Why is my car different?
Can you post a picture of how the micro switch looks when it is put into it's correct place before putting the metal clasp on to hold it in place? I cannot get it to work, so I must have it in wrong. Thanks

Nice job on this video, saved my bacon on my repair job!

You just made my week. Ordered the part. Spot on in the fix. Cheers to you. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the video it helped me today 👍🏽
Wish I had seen this video BEFORE I ordered the entire latch assembly. Turns out I was one of those people! Great job on the video.
Thanks! I was so close to doing the same thing. Hopefully this video helps some people out.
Great walkthrough! Keep up the great work!
All good except the part that I have to put the switch back. Which way does it go?
Thank you so much, I haven't fixed the the lock but I can now close the window
Thanks. I heard about the lever. So it's nice to see it. I'll have mine fixed right away.
Thank you for making it easy! Great video!

You are the man!!! Just saved me a whole lot of headache. Thanks bro. Just subbed and sharing.

This was a great video, helped a lot. You spoke very clear, walked through everything very easy and detailed. Definitely look forward to seeing more.
Just got a salvage one of these from Copart auction with same problem thank you for this video.
Nice! Glad it helped 👍🏻
I have a 2002 liberty but the part says 2004 -2007 . will it still work for 2002 ya figure ?
great video - will follow instructions and all should work as well as it did before, thx

Massive thanks, exactly the problem I have with my Jeep. Key works fine to open the glass but the handle does nothing.
Glad I could help, Thanks for watching!

Excelent video. Definitely fixed my problem!
Thanks for watching! Glad it helped 👍🏻
Great video. Direct easy to follow and solved the problem for me.
Happy to hear, thanks for watching!
Thanks brother. Subscribed.
This was a big help, who did you order from? What is the ball park for price?
Glad it helped! I ordered from Mopar Parts Giant. Price was about $40 cdn before shipping.
Great video, very informative. Keep up the good work.
Problem solved, you guys are awesome, thank you so much for the help , 👍
I did it You SAVe me lot of money
Thanks
Excellent information, thanks
Great video you guys are amazing.
Thank you so much it help fix the problem!
Hi , thanks for the video, replaced the micro switch as needed but now window will not latch in, it is in unlocked position too, any ideas? Lol
If the glass doesnt close same problem possibly ?
How do you remove the clip that holds the switch in?
^^
Where did you order your jumper from? Can't find it at any dealer
I ordered online from Mopar Parts Giant. Just type the part number into their search bar and it should pop up.
I've got a similar problem with my 2003 jeep liberty sport. If you remember messing with the latch itself, it has this trigger that when pushed up the latch should press in meaning the window is closed, when it's pressed down it will release the window.

My guy thank you. Solved my problem
However, when calling auto zone for availability, they couldn't find the part I need by the number you referrenced, or by a "micro switch"
Hmmm. It’s a Mopar part number that I used. Weird that they couldn’t cross reference it. I ordered mine off Mopar Parts Giant. Some call it a “jumper harness” as well.
Good one - very helpful. Thanks.
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Thank you so much worked perfectly just like u said
Good part to pick at upull yard. Test switch with multimeter continuity before buying.
Just a suggestion you could check continuity of switch with your meter to see if it's bad
Yes that would work too. Thanks for watching 👍🏻 Wanted to show it without a meter in case someone didn’t have one.
Nice men very professional
Good video! Very Helpful.

@@MtGarage Got it to work! Thanks, ma friend!
Right on!
This really did help me a lot, thank you very much! For your video, 😀
Thanks for watching. Glad it helped!
Bro you saved me a arm and leg fixing my door
Im having the same issue mines a 2002 im glad its just a simple fix
Does that back latch not working effect the door locks also that what i got going on. Help
It didn’t affect my door locks at all. Might be a different problem in your case. Could be a combination of this problem and something else.
What causes no power to the rear hatch ? Any fuses ? My fob won't work for rear but unlocks all other doors
If there is no power to anything in the hatch it could be a fuse. First thing I would check anyway. If all is good then I would investigate the hatch wiring harnesses with a multimeter to see what’s not getting power.
All fuses are good could it be a bad acuator
Thanks!! Looks like an easy fix!!
awesome video thanks brother.
Thank you.. this is what was wrong with mine.
Thank you for your amazingly clear how-to video. Now if only I can figure out why my 2002 jeep liberty tailgate latch keeps clicking when the car is locked. You've given me a starting place for my problem.
what camera are you using.
Currently we just use our phones. We’d rather spend money on car parts than a fancy camera lol
Mt Garage nice
Thank you for your answers
Thank you✊🏿
Good video congrats
Mine will open but window will not reclose..wont latch
Thank you. I save money.
thank you soooo much it fixed it for me for my 2006 liberty limited!!

Good video but unfortunately this was not the issue and I think I need to order the latch. Would have been helpful if you had continued with the latch replacement!
Hi 👋 sweetie I'm having the same problem I going to try to do the same thing thank you
