I'm very curious to see what you guys think of the Short Tactical Naginata I show off at the end of the video. Make sure to listen to my review of it before commenting.
Actually, the Short Tactical Naginata's tang is about right for a long knife, with the way it's anchored in the handle, and simply has an extended handle, which allow you to do different things with it. It seemed to hold up well, and I think it would be useful for camping, but also as a tactical defense weapon as well. People and animals (like bears, etc.) are not as hard as a Wing Chun dummy, so I think that it would perform fine in a defense scenario.
**The escrama sticks, looks cool just wish the spike was bigger. And if you really wanted to make it really cool have both ends have a sort of like a bulb type end on them to make both ends heavier than the rest. **The tiger claws why not made out of steel? **The OTF knife looks good! **The Tactical naginata no thanks, looks like it'll be really hard to get it out of that sheath, in the handle just looks non-ergonomic as all get out.
RE; testing tasers- Thank you for these 😂 as a life-long martial arts student and instructor, a close quarters combat instructor for the Corps, and currently contracted with the D.O.J it's becoming a real issue that people see a "less than lethal" weapon has MILLIONS of volts is leading to many accidents and deaths. Something to keep in mind is that anything more than 50 volts can be lethal and 130 and up is lethal for adults of up to 300lbs 70% of the time. The reason tasers are considered "less than lethal" is due to the current being used which is often quiet low in these devices. That said unless you've checked both the voltage and current with a machine several times with different battery charge levels you should NEVER test these on yourself or others !!! These are often made in China and quality control is FAR from consistent and the engineering is NOT great. I've seen SEVERAL deaths in the last year (17 actually) just kids playing around, college kids for initiation..even a couple of 11 year olds playing truth or dare. In the Corps and as a Police officer we are required to test these on each other before carrying one and after a couple of deaths we now test each one several times and have a doctor's sign off for the officer's and Devil Dogs. One thing we learned rather tragically ( killed the suspect and an officer as well as leaving another disabled for life. Blind--she lost her eyes, amputated hands, no nose ) Tasers can cause the person to ignite into a fireball. This 27 year old was detained due to a bar fight. One of the bouncers sprayed him with mace and a couple hours later while being taken to the hospital and checked out for a head injury that was from the fight..a couple of different detainees started fighting eachother and one of the 5 tases discharged at the two gang members missed and hit the drunk kid. He WHOOSH went up in a massive fire ball. I've seen other reports of the same thing with several different ignition chemicals...perfume, hair gel/spray, an asthma inhaler coco butter lotion, self tanning lotions etc . I'm not trying to throw shade or dress down this channel or anyone in this video. I think both are great. Just sharing because as someone far wiser than myself used to tell us- "we don't know what you don't know" . I hope that you and those you care for are happy, healthy, and safe. Semper Fidelis P.S. I apologize for any words that are out of context or poor punctuation and misspellings. I lost my hand in Afghanistan so now I dictate rather than type and the program is not perfect.
I'm teased all the time by my team, as well as my students and coworkers because despite being a life long martial arts student and instructor as well as an instructor for my beloved Corps and currently contracted with the D.O.J....😂 I am...fond of mall ninja stuff/ old mail order defense and ninja "weapons"😂❤🎉 I mean not enough to ever purchase any but I'll totally waste an hour here and there looking at some. I HAVE gotten several of the ones like knife in belt buckle 😂 etc but not the plastic gems for eyes and wizards, dragons, Kratos like stuff. 😂
I'd go with the Hidden Ice Pick Escrima stick I think. 1.5-1.6 lbs is heavy enough to do damage with an impact weapon and a 4 inch steel spike is long enough to do serious damage.
Hi Kyle as usual a nice array of different weapons love the escrima and the otf the naginata is great mate love how you give us an honest opinion as well as describing its pros and cons so as we know what to buy without wasting money much appreciated Kyle .
Thanks Craig! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your positivity and support. It means so much to me. I hope you have an excellent weekend, my friend!
The ice pick thing was very gangster'ish, the knuckles were very Wolverine and the last item would be better if the handle was shorter, but that's just my opinion?
Actually, the Short Tactical Naginata's tang is about right for a long knife, with the way it's anchored in the handle, and simply has an extended handle, which allow you to do different things with it. My pick for the week is the Dark Reaper OTF Knife. The shirt tactical Naginata is very nice I do think the tang should run the length for a straight tactical weapon but for a camping or hiking blade it would be very useful as a combination of a machete and a large Bowie style for multiple tasks. The Hidden icepick Escrima is my second choice and the brass claws are really cool but if used as a self defense weapon the spikes or claws become a deadly weapon even with a simple punch I hope you all had a safe and great weekend Kyle you have a awesome crew with Amenda and Ian and Mel keep up the awesome videos .
Thanks for the video. I already have the Brass Tiger Claws. I ordered them from KarateMart earlier this year. I really don't see them as great fighting weapons, but I want them for a photoshoot. The bad news is that I haven't been able to get a model to my place this year. Given that I've bought them, I guess I have to call them my favorite. I still see them as a very cool photography prop instead of a real weapon. The Hidden Icepick Escrima is a cool weapon. This one has the most range of any on this list. For someone with the right training, this one might be the one most likely to be immediately effective as a self-defense tool. I suspect that most experts would use this as an escrima stick, but the spike option is interesting. As I've said many times, I worry about threaded connections. A career in failure analysis of industrial components makes a man paranoid about threaded connections. Threaded aluminum is particularly concerning for me, but maybe people aren't able to generate the stress levels that would be a problem. Everything I've seen in failure analyses has been part of industrial equipment. The Short Tactical Naginata is also a cool weapon. I'd actually see this one as more of a fighting tool than a utility tool. In utility service, I would use this similarly to how I'd use a machete. Light wood and brush chopping would put many fatigue cycles on the stress risers where the tang connects to the handle. I think that there would be failure at that point eventually. Afterwards, one could probably use epoxy to fix the handle around the tang and continue to use this as a large knife. I have terrible luck with paracord wraps. They always seem to move out of place with hard usage. I would probably end up using epoxy or some other glue to cement the cords together and then wrap the handle in hockey tape. If I had to pick up one weapon off a table two minutes before being attacked, I'd pick this naginata. While this doesn't have quite as much reach as the escrima does, the blade would make this weapon formidable. Thrusts would produce cuts that would bleed immediately. This one is slightly lighter than the escrima, so it might be just a tiny bit faster. A slash that landed would cause a deep cut. In a few short fights, one wouldn't create enough fatigue cycles to break the handle. Someone buying one of these as a weapon should buy two or three. One would be kept for emergency self-defense. The others would be for training and utility work. The Dark Reaper OTF Knife looks cool. As you are painfully aware, I have all kinds of neuroses about weapons. I always prefer as few moving parts as possible on a bladed weapon. That gives me a little prejudice against OTF knives. Within that genre, this one still seems nice.
I love the concept of the short, tactical naginata. I would like to see a similar weapon with a full tang and maybe a different choice of steel. All the weapons from today’s show were very neat. I would probably prefer two of the escrima sticks, but I’d have to check out their weight first. As usual, I loved the show.
The naginata is a nice light to medium duty tool. The escrima baton with hidden ice pick is a really nice tool as well because you get more bang for your buck. Very nice work on that. The otf knife looks nice as well. My overall choice would be the escrima baton with hidden ice pick. Thank you, Kyle, for another nice review. Stay awesome 😎👍
Thanks Matt! You seem like such a cool guy! I really appreciate all your supportive comments. I really hope you have an awesome weekend as well, my friend!
Awesome video and some cool weapons this time and some of today's weapons are not legal here in Sweden. And i have shared your video out on my X for you as well.
Hidden Icepick Escrima is pretty nifty. I seen Mel getting in a few swing. That really sweet looking. It be nice if you could screw it into the end have yourself a spear. Short Tactical Naginata Naw it would do good. Only people complaining are the ones you chop upzthen they not talking g much but to God. I liked the sword chop chop. Awesome selection Amanda. Have a great weekend.
Wow…I love this comment Kyle! Thank you! That was a great suggestion on the escrima. We are actually working on a new version right now, but it’s very different than anything you’ve seen before. You’re right about the tactical naginata😂. I hope you have an awesome weekend, my brother!
Yes , the hollow grind on the Parang makes it " slicey" , but a Parang is designed to chop. A high flat grind or Saber grind would have made a better tool. 440 A , 440 B , and 440 C have good toughness to avoid chipping the edge on a chopping tool. ( not every knife has to be Magnacut, S35vn, etc) Read Parang as Naginata
I thought the tactical naginata was pretty nice. I've seen axes with similar handles and they seem to take some hard use without breaking. The distinct advantage that thing has going for it is reach, obviously the original naginata was a spear so that's clearly the idea of that weapon. Also, having an extra long handle means you can get two hands on for a more powerful stroke. If it wasn't illegal, that's the one I'd want to buy.😢
ok i would love to see you guys make an expandable baton sword . so a baton like the NEX 39" Quic Air Riot Baton with the last section being a blade would be the closest anyone get to weapon that emulates a light saber. the tubes should be made oval in shape instead of round so the blade end doesnt rotate and the blade end be double edge so it can stab. I would pay for a weapon like this. but it must work like the nex baton with push button to retract the baton so when you stab it doesnt close. You could make a version that is round with a spike at the end first and i bet it would sell like crazy while you R and D the oval version with blade. must be push button to close though so stabbing wont close it.
All the weapons on the wall behind me are weapons I tested out on the KarateMart RUclips channel. I believe that one is here: www.karatemart.com/dark-spiked-war-club Thanks so much for watching!

Great show, as always as a matter of fact, I study arnis. And love that hidden spike. Again, great show. Hope you have a great day.
That’s awesome! I love that you study arnis! Such an incredible martial art! I hope you have an excellent weekend!
The otf for sure...I'm a sucker for small blades 👍👍
Heck yeah! Thank you, my friend! I hope you have an awesome weekend!
Hidden Icepick Escrima needs to be in a Blade movie killing Vampires.
Absolutely! Well said!
The ice pick thing was very gangster'ish, the knuckles were very Wolverine and the last item would be better if the handle was shorter, but that's just my opinion?

Very true, Alan! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, my friend!
Those Brass Tiger claws are very sharp. Glad I gave those same pair.
I love those claws! They are an awesome weapon!
Thanks for the video.

Hahaha! So true! Thanks so much for watching! I really appreciate it!
Love all the stuff you guys make at HQ!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that! I hope you have a very Happy Halloween!
You just know John Wick visits this dude for the "dessert" wall... LOL

The tac naginata would be better with a flat grind. The hollow grind always ends up limiting its slicing potential, but overall it is a cool concept
Thanks Dave! I hope you have an excellent weekend, my friend!
As a close quarters combat instructor for the Corps Kali knife and stck is a good portion of the syllabus.
I really like that escrimi stick .
Thanks Jacob! I hope you are having an excellent week!

Have you heard of a roman cestus? This could be a great new product with a lowe production cost but great value 👍
Yes, I have! Great idea! Maybe one day! I hope you have an excellent weekend!
The ice pick would be cool if you could also make it a spear

Brass tiger claws and the tactical naginata
Excellent choices, William! Thanks so much for watching! I really appreciate it!
What type of grind is on the Short Tactical Naginata
I don’t have one in front of me to look at, but I’m sure it’s just a scandi grind. Thanks so much for watching! I really appreciate it!
Tiger claw looks like it would break your hand ✋️ 😢
That was one of my concerns as well, but if you hold them correctly, that doesn’t seem to be a concern. Thanks so much for watching!
What is the spiked club on the wall?
All the weapons on the wall behind me are weapons I tested out on the KarateMart RUclips channel. I believe that one is here: www.karatemart.com/dark-spiked-war-club

but not too combative
