    Wow, “People dont work at the pace we think they do”, thank you for this

      Apparently the average productive worker only works 3 hours a day, but for some people (aka ME) we refuse to reward ourselves unless we've worked all 8 years at full focus for several days in a row.

      @@ToLiveCreatively I work for myself as a therapist and I only see four clients a day max, generally more like 3, five days a week with a bit of admin totalling probably another 30 minutes a day tops. I currently earn around the same amount of money as I did when I worked for the government working 40 hours a week. When I tell people this they are generally both shocked this is possible, and sometimes annoyed that it is. I try to point out exactly what you've just said - even those engaged in contractual labour for 40 or more hours a week are rarely productive for more than 30-50% of those hours. Our whole approach to productivity and what it means to be meaningfully occupied is both outdated and broken at this stage.

    • @ToLiveCreatively
      @ToLiveCreatively  3 месяца назад

      Glad to see an actual expert chiming in! Yeah thank you! The phrase "meaningfully occupied" is exactly what I was trying to get at. Nobody does 8 hours of that kind of work, but people with ADHD or anxiety or even people on the spectrum tend to blame ourselves and self-flagellate over these unachievable milestones...

    I actually socialized with a friend today for the first time in 3 weeks. Before that I hadn't spoken to any of my irl friends outside of saying hello.

      Listen I'm super proud of you for doing this. It's never too late. And they love hearing from you. For some people, me included, it's really hard to get the energy to socialize AND to not feel guilty about not socializing. So if no one's told you this today, I really am proud of you.

      That is high praise! Thank you so much! And yeah I mean right now the way things are set up is unsustainable and that's never good news for anyone.

    I had emergency surgery and reached out to my clients to reschedule their services with less shame than I would have in previous times. I need time to heal. And that is ok. They all understood

    Thank you for support. I noticed that when I try to relax after hard day in uni I always blame myself, that I'm running from reality and I should be doing something more important, study more, learn new things. But now, little by little, I'll change this way of thinking and become more accepting and loving to myself.

    • @ToLiveCreatively
      @ToLiveCreatively  2 месяца назад +1

      It's super difficult to make that mental change but it's worth it! Little by little is the only way to do it as well. Be kind to yourself and remember that relaxing is not a guilty pleasure, it's a necessity!

    Wow, Jack, I love your energy! What an incredible video! Subbed and liked, and will be watching more!
    I also struggle with playing videos games these days... When I think about how game is going to require 20, 30 or 40 hours to even complete, I feel guilty, like I could have used all that time to learn something... And then I don't even start the game 😢. I do see it as a positive as well though, as I've taken up reading and journaling to fill it's place.

    • @ToLiveCreatively
      @ToLiveCreatively  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for the compliments! I'll take them! Which is new to me since I don't take those well but hey, we're all a work in progress!
      And yeah I get that...it's hard to "reward" yourself when you think you've done nothing worthy of a reward to begin with, but try it...write down the stuff you've done today, even if "taking a shower" is one of them, and you'll see how much you've actually achieved.

    i’ve been talking to this boy for nearly 2 months now and i kinda start to have feelings for him. he is in Italy and im going to see him in 3 days :D its weird i bought the flight tickets 3 weeks ago and now i feel like he is talking a bit weird. I told him that i like him and he is like how can u im just a random guy etc. so im kinda feeling sad. I normally dont hangout alone that much but thanks to him i learned to spend time alone. i’ve been by myself for 2 months now (but that means im in love with him and dont wanna see anybody) ohh fuck i wonder whats gonna happen in Italy. I feel so scared

      Learning how to be by yourself and hang out with yourself is incredibly important. Cause then you'll only allow people in your life that actually ADD to it. Instead of looking for someone to "complete" you or fill the quiet spaces.
      I wish you luck in Italy. And if it doesn't work out with him, remember...it's Italy. There's a thousand things to see more interesting than boys 😁
      My personal favorite is the stray cat shelter beneath the ruins of the site where they stabbed Julius Caesar. Torre Argentina I believe it's called, look it up if you're going to Rome!

    Shout-out to la ligne une du métro ! :)
    Loved the video and will follow your advice of rewarding oneself.
    A friend told me about a helpful thought for dealing with guilt and pressure to perform: "Allow yourself to mess up (at least) one thing per day".
    It's okay to burn that dish you were cooking, to not answer that email just yet, to have an awkward public moment, or vehemently affirm something that turns out to be wrong information later...
    Mistakes are fine. They're okay, you're okay.
    Thank you, and enjoy those video games !!
