I remember buying with my paper round money, Searching for the young soul rebels album, whilst on a camping holiday. Couldn't wait to get home to play it, longest holiday ever. I saw many bands in the 80's, Dexys came to my home town, sold out. Kevin Rowland, genius, have followed him all of life. Have waited over 40 years to see him live, have tickets for KoKo club on 14th june, so excited, I feel 14 again.
😢 I didn't mean to cry from listening to this. I just wanted to listen to how the beautiful "Come On, Eileen" voice matured, but that voice and melody marriage at 0:54 made me cry for some reason. This whole song gives me chills. Kevin Rowland is a truly exceptional person.

The more I listen to Dexys the more I think that they should bring out a fully out and out northern soul number, lots of their numbers really lend themselves to to whole northern soul dance movement, and if “The Boss” Bruce Springsteen, can bring out a northern soul cover then Dexys certainly can.

Sounds very much like the live version of Tell Me When My Light Turns Green that they were playing on The Bridge tour - not that it's a bad thing, it was almost a different song to the studio version song so it makes sense to rework it into a new song.
