    hello, greetings, I would like to know if you have any video where you show how you make the model of the weapon, that is, how to make a mold to make the plastic gun or the material you use, thank you very much

    If I had all the workshop equipment this would be brilliant. I'd like to see a video where hand tools are used to create the same thing. Also the issue you had with putting in the back plate for the clip would have been nullified had the hook not been installed first, seems logical to do the clip first THEN the hook

    Do you ever have any problems with not using a butterfly press? I’m wanting to start making these but i don’t know what press to get. So does that press work for taco and pancake style holsters?

    • @KnifeKits
      @KnifeKits  3 года назад +1

      Hi Clay. Thank you for watching. If you're only going to do one or two holsters, you can get by with a plywood press and molding foam. We have the foam available on the website and lots of guys do that. The CKK press that we're using in the video is the only way to go if you're going to make more than a couple. It has multiple adjustment heights, zero deflection, a clamping chain, and will last for a million holsters. It does both, the fold-over (taco) and 2-piece (pancake). The top plate can be adjusted for changes in girth.

    Well made instruction video. Thank you! I'm interested in knowing if there would be any differences in making a holster that would also account for having an attached light/laser. I'm thinking of attempting to make one for a Byrna HD with an attached OLIGHT Baldr Mini 600.

    • @KnifeKits
      @KnifeKits  3 года назад +1

      Hi Micah. There's no difference in the way it's made, other than requiring a bit more material to cover the light, and with larger retention posts and washers (for the extra thickness). A lot of guys will use a molding prop with the specific light model on it, but as long as you tape off the protrusions to allow them to clear on entry and exit, you should be good to go. Even if the prop isn't available with your light, you can still inspect a similar prop with a light rig to get an idea of how to prep yours before using it for molding. Here's a link to our olight prop line to give you some examples: www.holstersmith.com/vcom/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=olight

    I'm definitely interested in picking this up as a hobby. I already have a few projects in mind. My issue for those would be getting firearm moulds. I've seen videos of guys using masking tape and such on actual guns, but I'm not sure my buddies will be ok with that. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    How do you ensure that the retention even works? I've had issues with some of mine just not snugging up. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I use master series split molds, and I make all my different models the same way essentially. My g19 owb versions just don't work with the retention unless i use rivets. Any advise?

    The claw is too low. The piece which comes in contact with the interior of the pants must be at the same level with the bent of the clip. Otherwise it would not push into the belt, but only into the pants fabric, below the belt. So, this holster has that claw for nothing.
