You must react to Indian Reservation by Paul Revere and the Raiders. Mark does a beautiful job on the vocals and it’s a tribute to the Cherokee nation being put on the reservations.
As someone who's lived his entire life in Arizona, I can tell you this is a great song. Mark Lindsay was the lead singer of Paul Revere and the Raiders. They had a great hit in the early 70s called "Indian Reservation (The Lament of the Cherokee Reservation Indian)".
Oh, if you like the peace, love, hippie vibe, check out Scott McKenzie’s “San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair).” It’s an homage to the Summer of Love.
Dear Jay/Jordan and Amber, I just want to take a moment and tell you two that you make me smile everyday. I watch your videos and I think to myself, what a great couple, what a great family! You truly have a beautiful family... You are young and beautiful inside and out, both of you and your lovely girls and that beautiful new baby boy, so so fabulous. Thanks for all you do but if you guys ever wanted to make fewer videos, you know because you have so much else going on in your lives, with taking care of each other and doing the normal day-to-day stuff, I would understand. I guess what I'm trying to say is please don't overdo it because you feel like your viewers want lots of reactions... We love you guys either way. Again, thanks for making me smile 😁
Midnight Confession is a example of stellar lyrics... My favorite line is "staggering through the daylight your image on my mind.. feeling so close beside you babe... Sometimes this feeling is so hard to find but in my midnight confession..."to hear this song is to be caught up in the emotions so clearly conveyed by this guy... Backed by beautiful harmonies and accomplished musicians.
I grew up and grew old in ARIZONA! Lived in Tucson 1968-2022. I moved to Southern California and miss AZ so bad. I remember this song on the radio and it still plays in my mind and on my youtube quite often. Thank you for the analysis. I am glad you like it too. I enjoy people's comments as well.
Mark Lindsay/Paul Revere and the Raiders got their start in the Pacific NW playing from Eugene OR to Bellingham WA, and over to Boise ID. In the early 1960s, roller rinks often doubled as music venues. In 1963, when I was 13, I 'worked' behind the skate counter at Skateland in Olympia WA (fixed skates, handed them out during sessions, etc. and the rink owner then bought me a pair of skates and paid for my lessons in lieu of paying me, since it wasn't legal for me to actually be an employee.) Anyway, that summer of '63, Mark Lindsay/Paul Revere and the Raiders came to Skateland. I helped them unload and set up for the performance. Once it was all done, Mark Lindsay asked me if they could skate for a while, since there was still about an hour before the doors opened. So, I put them on skates and we skated around together for about a half hour--it was a lot of fun for a 13 year old kid to hang out like that with Mark L./PR+R. Arizona wasn't my favorite song of his. I think my favorite was Kicks.
Wow, what a small world! I'm a Oly girl and my Aunt was Paul Revere and The Raiders fan club president. I remember going on the Skateland bus with my older sister. Definitely a blast from the past. lol and wild!

Another great rock band I grew up with from the 60's-70's was Paul Revere & The Raiders. Mark Lindsay was their lead singer & he did the song "Arizona" as a solo. They were known for including Revolutionary War-style clothes in their attire. The band had their first hit in 1961 with the instrumental "Like, Long Hair". "Indian Reservation" was one of their biggest hits in 1971. But they had a lot of great songs such as "Just Like Me", "Kicks", "Hungry", "Let Me", "Arizona", "Mr. Sun, Mr. Moon", "Good Thing", "Him Or Me - What's It Gonna Be?" etc.

You see, he's part Indian, which is probably why he did "Indian Reservation", I myself am part Cherokee and that song always had a special meaning to me. This was a really good reaction video, thanks!
As has been mentioned, Mark was the lead vocalist and frontman of Paul Revere and the Raiders (aka The Raiders). The Raiders did a song called "Indian Reservation". You should give it a listen.
Oh yes, oh yes. I just found out they are issuing a quarter honoring Wilma Mankiller from 1985-95 she was the Principle Chief of the Cherokee Nation. They should do Reservation to honor Wilma.
I had forgotten about this song! I so love RUclips reactions because it brings back so many memories. I live in Washington State but my daughter wants to move to Arizona. Too hot for this girl lol, but I guess you never know.
Paul Revere and the Raiders featuring Mark Lindsay had a two TV shows in the late 60s - "Action" and "Happening." Must watch for pre-teen girls like me! I had all of their albums while my sister had all by the Monkees. We fought over wall space for posters of our fave raves. Two of the biggest hits for the Raiders were "Kicks" and "Indian Reservation."
Haha, I lived in Arizona for a lot of my life. I loved it and miss it. Haven't been there in decades, so I'm sure it's changes a lot. Each part of Arizona is different... Tucson, Phoenix area, and Flagstaff, etc... All different climates for example. Some parts of Arizona have lots of scorpions, poisonous spiders, water roaches and snakes. You always have to check your shoes before putting them on. And, in the winter in the Phoenix area it can get to the 50's and 60's which is cold for there, but not cold enough to enjoy winter activities. Flagstaff is a higher elevation and gets snow. Oh, but I really do miss Arizona and have such fond memories🌵🙂
I'm 65 and I remember Mark Lindsay doing this song and others ...you've seriously got to check " Indian Reservation "...I saw someone request Blood, Sweat and Tears...another great group with great horns...my personal favorite is " God Bless the Child "...another great reaction, guys...keep being awesome !!!...
Kbret..oh wow..!! I frickin LOVE that song..I heard it on AM radio growing up in San Diego California. Throughout the years found myself singing " Indiana wants me Lord I can't go back there" and hearing that great bit at the end of the song..."
I don't know why but this song made another song pop in my head that I thought I'd suggest to you... "One Tin Soldier" The original version was released in 1969 by the group The Original Caste. Two years later it was used in the movie The Legend of Billy Jack. The lead singer of the band Coven sang the song using the film's orchestra as the band but they credited it to the whole band Coven anyway. The vocalist for both versions of the song is female so you might use it for a Female Friday. My memory of this song is from Elementary school... I remember a 5-6th grader sang it in the school talent show and brought down the house. I was just a kid and remember thinking how can such a big voice come out of someone so young.
Don't know if anyone else will agree (well, those that know music and I mean know),but the perfect follow up to this song would be "Point Me In The Direction Of Albuquerque" by The Partridge Family which is very similar in topic, but musically is similar with those great brass flourishes throughout, backing vocals, and great lead vocals.
Paul Revere and the Raiders, an under rated, under appreciated 60s garage band. Worth digging into. Kicks, Hungry, Just Like Me, Good Thing. They were my favorite.
Can't believe he's 79. Started with Paul Revere and the Raiders, successful group mid 60s. Great voice, believe he was 15 when he was with the band. Went solo had this song, Mr. Sun Mr. Moon and Silverbird. All good songs on the charts. I dug him with the Raiders, and as solo.
When I was in the fifth grade I would come home and watch "Were the Action Is " on TV featuring Paul Revere and the Raiders with Mark Lindsay. That was a very distant memory.
The horns on this are just sensational, the whole arrangement just stellar. One of the best parts about this channel is you discovering this great old pop music. It makes me realize just how great the radio was during this time and having all this awesome music coming in during formative years. I would recommend "Julie, Do Ya Love Me" by Bobby Sherman as another great horn driven pop song from this same time.
I think one reason the song sounds so great is that Mark had a hand in co producing some of the Raiders later albums and knew his way around a recording studio and how to get high quality results. He's a very talented man and a great singer! 😊
I recently started watching you guys and your reaction videos and loving every minute of it. I came across ya listening to a song about Arizona and wanted to let ya know that "the Scorpions" have a song called "Arizona" too that i think you may enjoy. Thx for all ya do, Cal-in-AZ!
Hey guys, another great reaction! I was actually going to skip this one because I didn't recognize the artist nor title. But, I thought, I just crossed the Arizona border should listen to it. Once it started, I recognized it immediately. And I do love this song but never knew who did it. I spent last winter in Arizona for the first time. It wasn't my plan. But that's what happened. By the way, I sleep in my minivan. Been doing it for 4 years. So, I started off in the Phoenix area in January. It started to get too warm. So I moved up to Sedona. It was nearly perfect. We had about four snows. They were never more than about 4 in. And the snow was usually melted within 24 hours. The combination of the temperature and the dryness. Although, I've heard it can get worse than last season. And, I can't speak with personal knowledge about the summer. When I left I drove East towards Florida. And I drove through the mountains of arizona. I never knew they were these mountains. So, my guess is you can find your perfect weather in Arizona if you want. Just be aware of the type of towns you go to. You know what I mean. Love you guys. And be safe.
I remember in the '70's, my older brother had this on his reel-to-reel tape recorder, lol, and it's been on my playlist for years. It's so good to see this music being shared.
Jay and Amber, I know some have already made comments suggesting a follow up to this song is Paul Revere and the Raiders "Indian Reservation" since Mark Lindsay was part of that band. I highly recommend that song also. I always look forward to listening to your reactions and also seeing your family grow. Keep the music coming!
Mark was really a great talent, as front man lead singer for the Raiders he was part of a genre that included bands like the Young Rascals, Don and the Good Times, and The Kingsmen. Mark was really a blues shouter style singer. Their shows were legendary. Very talented guys Paul Revere , Mark Lindsay, Mike Smith, Drake Levin, Phil Volk.
I remember when this song came out, saw Mark sing this live back in the day! He is amazing and always will be! I live in AZ and it is awesome, so much to do and so much to see. Get a Harley and do it right! An old hippie chick, much love!
Glad to say that Mark Lindsay is still alive n kicking and active. He first found success and 'fame' in Paul Revere and the Raiders, who had Hit songs in the 60's. The song "Arizona" had a huge impact on me in 1970 in Australia where it reached #10 on our music Charts. Check out Mark's vocal variations in the outro of the song. "C'mon" & "Yeh" are thrown in to break up the repitition of him singing Arizona. It's simple, though very effective and would've come very naturally to Mark. He is one of the greats and deserves more recognition.
He was lead singer for “Paul Revere and the Raiders”. I used to go to dances at a popular roller rink in Bellevue, WA that they converted to a live band/dance venue. It was THE place to be on Saturday nights! Paul Revere and the Raiders were CRAZY! They would jump around on stage, hang on the low rafters and swing and jump. 😁👍
@@craigaust3306 I was a Kirkland teen. All I know was it was in Bellevue. It was back in the mid to late 60’s that I went. It was up more in the hill area than downtown Bellevue, I remember that. It was called “Lakehills Roller rink”….but everyone just referred to it as “Lakehills”…
So cool that you react to this one. I was born and raised in Arizona and love the desert, mountains, rivers and all the rest of the beautiful landscape. Loved when this song came out because it spoke to me as the girl with the rainbow shades and i did go to San Francisco and visited Haight Ashbury, the seat of the hippie movement. Love this. Amber, you would find so many things to see and do in Arizona. I don't live there now, but love it so much. Thanks for this.

Where the action is - is what they called the show where I grew up.
@@shelleybleu4903 Yes! I had forgotten the full name of Action. Also, Happening was "Happening 68" then "69" then the year was dropped at some point.
Oh my gosh! It must be 50 years since I’ve heard this song! ❤️
Me too...I had the 45 of this song--one of my favorites!
Oh, and remember, the summers in Phoenix can be brutally hot ☀ California has the best climate, but the traffic is terrible
Absolutely love this song!!!
Hey take a listen to R. Dean Taylor, who just passed yesterday, Canadian singer, hit in US was "Indiana Wants Me". Similar vibe but 70's
Kbret..oh wow..!! I frickin LOVE that song..I heard it on AM radio growing up in San Diego California. Throughout the years found myself singing " Indiana wants me Lord I can't go back there" and hearing that great bit at the end of the song..."
I have two very long time friends then move to Arizona nine years ago, they live in Mesa right outside of Phoenix… Absolutely love it just like Jay.
Such a great song! Have not heard this in years and it was always one of my favorites. Thanks for the memories!! 😊
Paul Revere and the Raiders, an under rated, under appreciated 60s garage band. Worth digging into. Kicks, Hungry, Just Like Me, Good Thing. They were my favorite.
Love this song!! Great Song Mark...
The feel of the flower girl listen to The Cowsills The Park The Rain and Other Things (The Flower Girl). Also the song Hair.
I love that you are giving these older tunes a chance, there's some great stuff to be heard.
You keep your starry-eyed vision, Amber. It's a gift!
Bobby Sherman!!! I don't think anybody has reacted to him ever! Would love that!
Thx for all ya do,
Cal-in-AZ!
Had a crush on Mark Lindsay back in the day. I haven't heard this song in ages!
I haven't heard this song in decades and I still know most of the lyrics. I loved Mark Lindsay (and also the Raiders). Try "Indian Reservation".
One of the best singers EVER. He could sing anything, any style, and he can still sing today.
I like Amber's "trance" while music plays - very cute.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS, Rob Squad.
WOW this song brought back so many memories. My youth, I heard these amazing songs growing up. Love watching you two react to my music.
I had the biggest crush on Mark Lindsay in the 60's. I love this guy and he is still out there. He is a heck of nice guy!
Marks band Paul Revere and the Raiders had some hits like Kicks, Hungry and Good Thing .. all 60s music .. this song is great
Amber, John Conlee released "Rose Colored Glasses" in 1978. It was country but it was a big crossover hit.💯 I think you would like it.😁❤✌
This is an amazing song, always one of my favorite top 40 tunes. I REALLY enjoyed the two of you discovering it!
My sister played this 45 over and over and over....and I still like it!
I had posters of him on my walls! Shows my age but I still think my generation had the best music! I love seeing younger adults turned on & loving.
Wow. I grew up listening to this on the radio. So cool to see y’all experience this music
My cousin lives there and it sounds great. Plus a lot of hippies seem to land there. I love this song.
Sounds like the perfect location for Amber
I loved Mark Lindsay back n the day.
What a blast from the past. I love these old songs.
Where was it located, and when did you go? I used to live there.
@@lindapetro5594 Thanks!
Arizona rocks, great choice!
Another song I liked by him is Indian Reservation
Scott MacKenzie San Francisco is the ultimate hippie song.
I love this song. Glad you enjoyed it. Love your reaction videos.
Rose colored glasses by John Connelly
Amber is so ADORABLE! I could just look at and listen to her all day!
Gosh, I have not heard this is such a LONG time! TY for sharing...took me back to my youth!
Just a great reaction to a song I played over and over again as a teenager. Love it!
I love Mark Lindsay He had ARAZONA AND SILVER BIRD. Big hits!!!!❤🌹💋💋💋
AZ native here. It's really hot for a few months, but you have AC in your house, you have AC where you work, AC in all stores, AC in your vehicles. Kids would love all the swimming. If you want snow in winter, drive a couple hours up north. Rob Squad in AZ would be awesome. We need teachers and people like you two. Jordan, we have all 4 major sports franchises. 😀
I had this song on my playlist, and my son heard it and loved it.
He has great taste!
Yes Mark was with the popular Pop band of the 60's called Paul Revere & The Raider.....and he broke away from the group.....and this is his solo song. I LOVE this song!!!!!
Ok. Yet again y'all pull out a song that have I not only not heard in forever but it hasn't even entered my mind for decades. And after listening to it here, I see what a great song it is and should never be filed away as just a 60's/70's one hit wonder.
This brings me back to our old black and white TV watching American Band Stand
