As a former pro musician and music lover (I'm 70, and was a real rocker!), I must agree. When you listen to Mark's vocals, it's quite amazing. He was like a refined Mick Jagger. He could scream and sing all at once, and he'd hit the notes perfectly. Amazing phrasing. My choice of top hits for The Raiders are Kicks, Good Thing, Just Like Me, Him or Me and Hungry. They were incredibly hard rock, but had Beach Boy overtones.
Having grown up in the 60s, it's great to hear personal insights from Mark Lindsay very interesting. Great to hear his open, honest and quite relatable thoughts. Thanks for developing this presentation and thanks to Mark for his time and incredible contributions.
In the 60s my neighbor friend was a girl my age, 10. We moved away , about a year later, one of her letters to me mentioned that she saw the Raiders in a parade in the Chicago area ( a PR appearance I gather); she fell in love with the whole band! Lol
Thank you so much for posting this, an absolutely wonderful interview, this man just oozes class! I've always loved the music of the raiders and of Mark as a solo
Thanks for posting this video very historical. Mark Lindsey and the Raiders what an incredible group it is so underrated is actually ridiculous. They were huge in the 60s. .I had my granddaughter she is 11 listen to and see the lyrics of "Indian Rservation" and saw me burst into tears
Mark is a talent that never grows old, he is timeless and has a very soothing voice and also has a lot of energy in his other work, very versatile. I got to see him several times and he was never disappointed, not to mention he is very handsome!
In his day he was the paramount rock and roll star. He had the most lush ponytail of the sixties and when he flung it over his shoulder while singing, it was an image that stayed in your mind. Great voice.
I saw him, solo, in Birmingham AL in 1971(?). He was terrific. I was 8-10 in the 60s when the Raiders were all over TV and loved them so much. Does anyone remember that Paul at one point had the front end of a Mustang mounted on his keyboard? I know I’m not imagining this.
Had the honor and privilege to perform three times on the Happening show. There was a battle of the bands and we came in-second. Mark graciously gave me rides in his Mini Cooler when I hitchhiked in West Hollywood. I’m sure he didn’t know who I was, just a kind and riendly guy.
Great story, I also interviewed Booker T a few times and he mentioned when he first came to LA, he was hanging with Mark and messed up his leg somehow, but had no money, Mark took him to the hospital and paid all his bills, great guy
Thank you for posting this! I remember staying up late in the 60's just to see this amazing band! I had a tiny little TV in my room and secretly watched them, I also watched Don Kirschner's Rock Concerts back then. I must admit, I had a huge crush on Mark Lindsay (and still do)!
Great interview. A credit to Mark Lindsay, who in the 60s, contended with so many opportunities. Life was really moving fast. Had no idea he was a great music producer and edited Jerry Rafferty's Baker Street. For the song's saxophone player, great piece. Wow! what an ending.
He was a bonafide TEEN IDOL back in the mid to late 60’s and beyond. Amazing how young he looks here , he must have been in his 50’s in 1996.. the Raiders and Mark went very bubblegum and then middle of the road and lost me . Using HUNGRY in Once upon a Time in HOLLYWOOD reminded me they could Rock!
What a great interview. Mark is such an intelligent and talented guy. A real Renaissance man. His insights into music and the music industry are fascinating to hear.
Interesting to hear Mark telling his stories . The interviewer was stumbling somewhat (if you could hear him ), "Wild stories" ? ...what a typical silly hack question.
Maybe Mark missed heard. The session guy from Baker Street Raphael Ravenscroft was paid £ 35. But it became more financially beneficial after that because Raphael was able to demand much higher fees down the road.
@@maryromanek6683 and it's always, always been spelled LindSAY, on every record cover. Paul Revere and the Raiders featuring Mark Lindsay. One of the major teen idols of the 60's, along with Peter None, Micky Dullins, Paul McCarthey, lol.
He was the sexy one. Paul was the Daddy. 😊. I was heart broken when he cut that famous ponytail off, out of all the songs, Indian Resavatinion is the only one that I know. I think 😂.
It's always nice when one of your favorite bands and lead singers from your youth turns out to be a real person and interesting. What a great interview thanks.
What the crap???? ONE OF THE MOST FAKE, UPTIGHT INTERVIEWS IVE EVER HEARD! What could’ve been a relaxed, amazing interviews with one of the most successful bands of the 60’s - with one of the most amazing singers 3:12 … flopped. What a disappointing, uptight interview. Made for 10 second sound bites. 😢
Mark's been answering the same questions for so many years, and pushing his personal agenda, that it feels scripted. He's got his points he wants to make, and he'll make them, regardless of the questions.
Still looking good here, well into his 50s. The truth is, it is not enough to have a distinct, good voice like Mark...it helps greatly to be handsome...and he clearly had that going too! Jim Morrison also benefitted from those traits.
One of the best male vocalists around!
You betcha… tremendous and versatile.

Great interview. Mark Lindsay and Paul Revere and the Raiders were one of my favorites.
The Pop Gos the 60s Channel did a great vid about them and it's really good.
I have always had a huge crush n Mark Lindsay!! What a heart throb-OMG!!!
So did my mom. I can see why! He is very good looking!

Me too, since the 60's! 🙂
Handsome and a genuinely nice guy.
Loved Paul Revere and The Raiders. Mark was a great front man singer songwriter and producer. ❤❤ l was a big fan.

The Raiders Rock!! Love the Raiders. I always blast kicks when on the radio. One of my favorite songs.
Loved the Raiders! Always rushed home to warch them. I've seen Mark perform and love him. I wish I could have also heard the band.
Great video! Mark Lindsay has aged well. He is still cool, handsome, funny and smart. More than anyone, including Paul, he epitomized The Raiders.❤

Paul Revere & The Raiders... should have been in the RRHOF years ago... sadly, the group has never even been nominated... a truly shameful disgrace...
I agree!
I hear ya! It’s ridiculous. Yet,teenie bop per Bon Jovi is in. Give me a break.
Agree100%. They were hard rock with good melodies and singing. Hit songs that you never forget.
Agree.
I agree ,damn straight
I too had a crush oh Mark Lindsay. Loved the music. Indian Reservation was my favorite song.

He's also a great guy. I got to meet him and it was great.....and definitely one of the best American male vocalists.
Saw the Raiders twice during their prime in Dayton Ohio. Great shows.

Yeah , in the later 60s they lost me too but I will always love the classic lineup .
WOW!!! Love This Information!!! Great Artist From Really Great Group!!?
Such an underated singer and band. Always loved these guys. I was a big fan growing up in the 60s and 70s

Thanks for sharing this, it was really interesting and a joy to hear his speak about so much great history and trivia.
He looks so good for his age!!!! We were big fans I. The 60’s
I love him!❤
One of my favorite bands at the time. Not sure why. Mainly, I liked the music, then the fun act, then the TV show. It was great.
Just Like Me !!! Arizona !!!!!!!!!!
MARK LINDSAY - BEST EVER #1 LEAD SINGER...
He has a GREAT voice. He should be more famous than he is
Great interview. Wish we could hear your questions better.
Loved his music 🎶🎵
i was a kid and saw them up close in 1981 i think, maybe 1982 at the Budweiser World of Wheels in the DC area.

Still looking young at 54. He's 82 now. Paul died at 76 in 2014. Smitty in 2001.
Where the Action Is -- Every afternoon after school!
I miss jukebox music.
Kicks still remains as a relevant anti drug song. I show it to people that do drugs. It hits home
6:09.......Perfect Jagger imitation.......😅
No no no....he got it right the first time.
If Mark was a songwriter, where are the songs that he wrote when he was with Paul Revere And The Raiders ?
That's easy to research. Start with Wikipedia and go from there. He co-wrote quite a few.
Musicians are usually really good communicators with some exceptions. Ozzy for instance:)
The Stones didn't perform anywhere in the US in 1967. He may be thinking of 1964-early '65. Even by 1966 The Stones were big headliners.
🔙 In the night, "Indian Reservation"⏱️Less! 🎶🌄🎵..🦅.....
The most underrated singer ever.
Uh, it's LindSAY. Say Say Say. Mark Lindsay.
Oops I will correct
It's always been pronounced lind-zee....

Paul Revere's real name was Paul Revere Dick..:)
Luck had nothing to do with it.
Great singer. Mullet on a 50+ year old man doesn’t work.
He doesn't look 50.
Interview was January 1996. I'm sure he's more fossilized now at 81.
And what's 50 suppose to look like decrepit? What about the hair on all the other aging rockers
