For your next block, you should do the Jack-o'-lantern. Especially because Halloween is right around the corner. Plus you could make it hollow and turn it into a real lamp.

This seems like a wholesome idea. I've played Minecraft as a child, and it's kinda my own form of escapism at that time. Frederic Chen, in general, is fairly creative and sophisticated, and is the never the type of person to let someone down.
I love how real and open Frederic is with his entire audience, he is literally my favorite person on youtube just because how down to earth he is.

Great to see you making art again! One of the flowers might be a simpler project to do next.
Really easy way to draw out those lines without having to measure - it's 16x16, so you can just fold a piece of paper that's the same size (trace the cube) as the cube faces into halves a few times to get the segments. (also eliminates problems with things not being perfectly square, you can do a piece of paper per side if they're very different)
edit: some pigments get you more or less flexible paints than others - titanium dioxide gets a very inflexible paint.

suggestion: maybe u should use gesso next time as a base layer and then sketch the little squares, it will even out the shitty texture of the wood and plus a white layerr, so u dont have to worry abt the shade when its dried 🤍🤍

Cornstarch and baby powder both work, i recommend baby powder tho cause it's finer

Personally, I think that the "imperfections" make it look better, since the non-straight lines make it feel more alive as a painting instead of as pixel art :]
little tip for keeping your paint longer alive, I usually wrap my paint container with cling film (idk if that's the right english word but like the clear foil you put over leftovers) and then put it in the fridge :) it usually helps me keep my acrylics alive for multiple days a week! also spiritzing the top of the paint with a little water before sealing it up will also help

It's wild what painting Minecraft things does to a person I painted a wolfs head told myself I would never ever do it again then found the left over blocks a couple months later and decided to make the flower pot for my actual plant (haven't finished it), painting Minecraft things is a love hate relationship imo ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ

I appreciate the talk at the beginning, I can relate. I'm sewing pants and did a small painting last week, there will always be imperfections nobody but me will notice. And sometimes I just tell myself it was a stylistic choice.

You can sand your surface after you apply mod podge or gesso for a smooth surface. Hope this helps!
