- (25 Jan 1970) RR7004A Eastern Nigeria Post-War Report
The fall of Biafra, Nigeria's former Eastern Region,
brought the civil war to an end, but not the suffering.
As the federal government took possession of the
defeated enclave, there was considerable controversy
over how serious the condition of the Ibo population
was and how well the federal troops were dealing with
the situation. Among the first journalists allowed into
the conquered territory after the war was our reporter
Richard Lindley. He spoke to Ibo women who alleged
they had been raped by Federal soldiers and to a
Federal commander who admitted there had been
isolated cases of rape but claimed that the great
majority of his troops were helping the Ibos. Lindley
also talked to military observers and to refugees
about the food situation. He interviewed Cyprian
Ekwensi, and Ibo novelist and former Biafran Minister
of Information, who was happy the war was over and
looked forward again to a united Nigeria.

We will never forget
Chinedu Godwin don't forget that you made a choice to war, and unfortunately today we still have igbos calling for another war, and at the end you will blame somebody else for the disaster that automatically come with war. I don't understand igbo people.
@@w4814252 This is exactly what I can't quite fathom about them. And you put it in the rightest of words "don't forget that you made a choice to war."
@@w4814252 mate, the people are literally asking for their right to self-determination.
How can you ever cry injustice when you are hindering justice to another?
Let them go. You can't force a people to remain against their will.
@@SuperCornelius100, u started by taking over mid west and other regions. Is that how to declare self determination. What concerns ur determination with oil rich regions?
We must fight this war to restore Biafra at all cost
😀😀
Is not over yet, we're back in town again, to restore our country Biafra..
Idiot you ran away the first time, now you want to come back to start again
Welcome to the police most wanted list, my guy.
💪🏾
@@michaelbabson8143 what is your concern with igbo self determination?
😀😀
There was no justice given to the people, there is still no real effort to address the issue, we must make efforts to do so.
The pains and killings suffering from British and Europe unions. Shame to the world and their colonization, God of justice must fight for his people IPOB and Christians all over the whole world and home as well in Jesus Christ name I pray Amen?
Because the Muslims are not created by God ba? Cry me a river...
Charles Omotosho why are you even here? A group of people are seeking secession and do not want to be part of the Islamist hellhole where nothing works and you’re pained ? Why do Yoruba people get triggered when this debate of Biafra comes up ? Na by force to stay yoked ? Why are you panicking
@@charlesomotosho2880the way igbos see things and the way yorubas see things differs, but at the same time' if the yorubas so much love the fulanis' they can move on with fulani, but the igbos hate to live in the same contraption with fulani because everything about fulani are negatives and one cannot prosper coexisting with fulani, you will endlessly experience strange evil extremism that they are genius of.
Amen
I dont like watching anything about the war becouse it makes me feel so hurt
Am hearing them speak my "NGWA " tongue in the video background.
I hope you know what it means.
@@kelvisezeribe5246 am from there
I'm from Enugu but I heard the ngwa too
This so called Nigeria will pay for Wat they did to biafra during and after the war
You guys started it and so deserve what you received
We will see
Imagine the British soldiers denying the rape of Igbo women after the war by Nigerian soldiers. Do they expect the culpable soldiers to come their offices and report themselves or what?
Biafra must stand
Form another war na
The rape and murder of thousands of Igbo women by Nigerian soldiers after the civil war is still the big untold story in Nigeria
+Spoilt Child What's stopping you from telling the story. What are you waiting?
War or no war. For me today Nigeria isn’t working. BHM is the new war in Nigeria now. There was a country
*That British general's aim was to dispatch with all the formalities and get back to counting oil money for queen and country.*
*He could barely contain his contempt for any Biafra-like African who had the audacity to get in the way.*
*You almost get the feeling that he was disappointed that there were still some Biafrans left😐.*
*So dear fellow Africans, Blacks, "Nigerians" one day it will be your turn too. Benue-ites and other Middle beltans are now incrementally on the hot-seat compared to what Biafrans endured, but IT IS COMING FOR EVERYONE SOONER OR LATER WHEN THE YOUTH WILL INVARIABLY ASK "WHY DO THINGS HAVE TO BE THIS WAY???*
*Whereupon there'll be a prancing Gowon like "good-boy" dancing to the tune of puppeteers who will send out generals such as the fellow above to scoffingly cover up atrocities with a mere dismissive wave of the hand.*
Well said bro! God bless you abundantly for your remarkable wisdom.
@@hombrededios5413 Thanks bro, and May God bless you too.
he isn't British, do you see that even the simplest of things get lost in hatred and ignorance for you anti Nigerian anti Igbo types.
From there to now. South Easterners and south South rock!!
Just factor in all the periodic religious unrest that and marginalization that has followed the post war.God is great!
This is a sad story seeing people killed for no reason has Nigeria change now know?
Untold Story about Biafra Genocide!!
After we get biafra I can tell you that Nigerian is in trouble because
Because what??? Go and sit down...if you spark another war, the country Nigeria will not be tender at you this time
@@charlesomotosho2880 yariba no country survives two civil war
😁😂
They didn’t do shit as regards reconciliation or rehabilitation. We just wanted our own nation state . Total sovereignty from people who we have no common affinity with. Like
Israel , we wanted autonomy and freedom to protect the motherland and fight over oppression. We are Christians , children of most High , Yahweh. Well fast forward today, Igbos are the most economically advanced group who don’t need shit from the central government to prosper. Nigerians look around and think deeply we the igbo ethnic group is outstanding , we are a blessed people.
Wounds getting healed day after day.

They don't remember that they are our nabours ok
The person that led the first war left the people suffering and ran to the Ivory Coast. That should be a lesson today as another war bell is ringing. The second man is in hiding in the UK while people are dying for him all over the region. Peace, peace, and peace. nothing more beneficial than peace.
What do you know about peace? What do you call peace? Maybe you think peace is about playing dead.
If you want peace you have to prepare for war. Peace goes with war.
@Samuel Eleko
Given the present realities, your definition of peace is skewed.
