I have to tell you guys that this "layering" function is terrific! With the combination of Royal Grand 3D and White Grand I got literally the best sound I ever had on any of the digitals I owned. Just amazing, love it and my Nord Piano 5 ❤!
Good review and create explanation of A/B concept. I was wondering about the reverb isolation and you answer that! I’m assuming other effects are assignable to the 4 piano/synth parts? Thanks!
Thank you Chuck! I’ve been waiting for this excitedly, your reviews and videos are always the best. Is the keybed itself exactly the same on both? I know you said there was a subtle improvement between the Nord 3 and Nord 4, and wondered if the Nord 5 had improved on this further? When I tried a 4 I adored the feel of it (best digital piano out there) but noticed it had quite a loud clunk when the keys bounced back, and wondered if this had been refined on the 5?
The 73 and 88-key Nord Piano 5's have identical key action (just a difference in number of keys). Early Nord Piano 3's had a thump problem that was fixed in the 4. The Nord Piano 5's key action feels identical to me as the 4.
Its a TP40H (not sure how you got TP48 out of that). Nord Piano series keybeds are different than the Stage series - they're more piano-like whereas the Stage series has to be able to accommodate organs, synths, etc... some a more piano-like feel won't help with that.
heya! just ordered a piano 5... new to nord. I'm just confused whats the difference in the pianos/synths that are already built in to the ones you can download? is there just more of a choice ?
Nord constantly introduces more sounds. The download section contains sounds already in your board as well as new sounds. You can add/delete from you board as needed.
Thanks for the video. The 5 looks amazing as a complete gigging digital piano. How does the 5 play feel versus the Nord Grand? I love the keypad of the Grand and the experience. The piano “feels” like it sounds more dynamic than a regular Nord. My only disappointment with the Grand is the inability to layer pianos.
I'm sure this is a great piano/keyboard. But I wonder why they haven't progressed to a larger color and touch display. For the market maybe it doesn't matter but I would think it would.
nord treating early 2010s technology like they’re brand new “oh look 2 inch oled screen, we’re going to ask a big premium for that feature” “look, 1gb flash memory, let’s bump up the price a couple thousand dollars” “2 sound engines in 1 normal sized keyboard, that’s a feature nobody else has” worst part is that people don’t really complain about this stuff
I’ve owned the grand sold it and got an electro 6hp my best advice is know what your gonna use it for. If you want a piano and nothing more something that Will sit in your house the grand is one hundred percent the way to go. You can’t take that thing anywhere. It’s big it’s heavy and it’s made completely out of wood super easy to chip and damage in gigs. If you want a gigging piano the piano 4 - 5 or electros are amazing and do the same thing. The piano 5 is pretty over kill features wise and will do everything you need it to do. I went with an electro 6HP over the piano 5 because it’s much lighter and has a dedicated organ section great for playing cover bands and gigs ! Either way all nords are fantastic it’s mostly just what you need it for.
@@josiahdelarosa1165 Thanks, that’s really helpful. I will be using it mostly at home but I want to use it in a band setting too in my church. Ill be taking it out probably once or twice a month so not too much. I think the grand is only slightly heavier than the piano 5 but the fact it’s made of wood has made me wonder if it would get damaged easily. I really like the dual layer feature on the piano 5 so I’m probably going to go for the piano 5. I’ve been trying to find a shop that has a piano 5 to try out, everywhere within 3 hours of my house has said they don’t have a demo piano at the moment.
@@marcospintor1333 for real the best Nord I’ve ever owned/used !!! Better then the stage 2 for sure and grand :) took me awhile to get use to the HP action but honestly being about to really use it and get good it’s probably one of there best actions ! I like it as much as the Nord grands ! It’s a very heavy action feels almost identical to a Yamaha cp88 but once you get used to it and your fingers start moving it’s really great feels fantastic
@@PianoManChuck thanx chuck! right in front of my face! there she was.......maybe you could do a video of deleting a piano sample and adding a fazioli for example...your videos are priceless piano man!

Great opening 👍we have to get that piece into a movie !! I have the popcorn ready 🍿
thanks Chuck.Great info !✌️
Thanks CJ!!! :)
Waiting for the Nord 5K - with Kawai’s action. Dreaming but that would be nice.
Thank you for such a great in depth comparison! Please, what is the best solution for getting a pitch bend wheel on the Nord Piano 5?
Wow... The mix combined👏🏻🎶

Chuck, you mentioned the Fatar TP48 keybed on the Piano 5. Is the keybed for the Piano 5 different from the Stage 3? Thanks

Question please Chuck, does Nord have any Hammond Organ samples ?, for the Piano5 or the Nord Grand ?
No. You'll need a Nord Stage for that.
Does nord piano 5 and 4 have the same keybed action? Piano 4 felt a bit stiff and not bouncy enough when I demoed it? Thank you!
Would be truly great seeing a deep comparison with the Korg sv2
Thank you so much. PMC. Love this video.

Is there any difference between the key actions? I’m curious if they’ve improved it since the NP4.
